  1. Little Belgian boy saluting Canadian Troops. http://http://www.wimp.com/belgianboy/ For some reason the hyperlink won't work, just cut and paste.
  2. STRIPPERS AND BEER! (oops, was that out loud? )
  3. Give them a gift before you set out - a T-shirt with the word GUIDE printed on it.
  4. Only after breakfast.
  5. I used to have superstitions, but my astrologer said I was being silly. But now my palm-reader tells me my astrologer is nuts. Don't know what to do now.
  6. 5 years old and he puts a lot of the rest of us to shame! Atta boy Brendan!
  7. Well it won't if we keep ramping it up. But it could lead to a peaceful and respectful discussion if we let it.
  8. While I would be considered by many to be very liberal, I have no problem with proper conservatism. Think of it as a check on unfettered progress, the kind that could get us into trouble if allowed to run rampant. Science employs both liberalism and conservatism very well, in fact it can't work unless both are in balance.
  9. Because when used in politics the words 'liberal' and 'conservative' are merely names and not necessarily philosophies. Yes, decades ago the American Democrats were the conservatives and the Republicans were the liberals, but times change. Going back to the founding of America it can't be denied that the Constitution was a very progressive document for its time, as were many of the 'founding fathers'. As a measure of how quickly things change, by comparison to the current Republicans Barry Goldwater would be considered a flaming liberal.
  10. And if they found out that the original Boston Tea Party was committed as a protest over LOWER taxes they would be mortified!
  11. Pay people crap wages and they won't be able to afford to buy anything, and the economy tanks. Are those $4 an hour Mexicans the driving force behind their booming economy where brand new cars and large homes are the norm? Oh, I forgot, most Mexicans are living in poverty. If we lose many more jobs to China Canadians won't be able to afford to buy the cheap goods produced over there. Then things will gradually switch and we'll become the cheap labour providers and they will be the rich consumers.
  12. Get ready for Neoergasilus japonicus.
  13. Good one, and a pertinent question too.
  14. Terrible news. I heard the report on 680News today, but you never think that something like that will have even a remote connection to you. We are a lot closer together than we think. Condolences to Simon and his family.
  15. Actually that's a pretty good action shot. Nicer if it's leaping toward you, but you have to take what you can.
  16. They are up there, just keep washing lures until something takes it.
  17. Looks like he's on the third syllable of 'gorgonzola'. Lovely pics, and it's great to see a kid having fun with his dad!
  18. ? They were outshot 32 to 18. To me that means the defence isn't that great. And it's been a pattern for quite a few years. Even in games they have won with big scores they have still been outshot, meaning that their goalie is nothing but a puck target. They had better hope that if Reimer goes down with an injury any back-up is just as good. I know that in hockey as in any other sport the most important statistic is the final score of the game, but shots on goal tells you a lot about how your defence is, and 32-18 doesn't look good to me. It's only one game, but I'm not holding my breath.
  19. Since we're fishermen (and women) there is one simple rule; If there are no pictures and no witnesses (or at least no witnesses who are willing to tell the truth) then they are monsters, if there are pictures or witnesses then they could be either monsters or dinks. In my case they are usually monsters (I often fish alone without a camera).
  20. Pulling for the Phillies this year, I want Halladay to get a World Series ring.
  21. I've heard Frenchman Bay is good. Even though I've lived within a stone's throw of it for years I only started to fish it after bass season opened this year, by that time the pike had moved well off shore (no boat). I might try it again soon.
  22. It would make a good pet for Hap Shaughnessy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FI3qRq4EnHE
  23. I took this one a few years ago on my old 3.2mp Kodak, just pushed it toward the ground while clicking the shutter. My brother discovered that if you look dead-centre and then move your head around just a wee bit, or move slightly in and out, you get an almost 3D effect. It looks terrific full-screen.
  24. Yeah, but since I'm not putting it forward as anything great I probably won't bother. Just experimenting to find the limits of this thing. I really really really HATE the autofocus, way too slow and it doesn't always go for what's in the centre, even though that's what I've set it up for. Still prefer my 22mp set-up (an Olympus OM-2 with Fujichrome!)
  25. Good work! I wonder if we'll be hearing any reaction from the 'Lake Dalrymple Anglers Association', or whatever it was.
