  1. It's my second rubicon, NEVER had a problem with tires (BFG mt) broken tie rods etc.....Dents and scratches, well that's up to the operator. And yep, I have gas money ;-) Thanks though.
  2. Thanks for all the great advice, ended up going with something completely different LOL. Picked up a 2 door Jeep Rubicon, a little bigger but should serve its purpose well. Looking forward to some backwoods fishing adventures ! R
  3. Your friend did the right thing, people had already stopped, and emergency services had been called. Its Tough call not knowing the severity of the crash to offer any opinion or advice as there are so many variables to consider. If anyone does decide to stop and assist, YOURS AND YOUR PASSENGERS SAFTEY IS YOUR FIRST PRIORITY. Pull well ahead of the accident or in some circumstances well behind, leave lots of room for rescue crews (we appreciate this) DON'T turn your back on oncoming traffic ( that's why I'd pull ahead and walk facing oncoming traffic) we all know a secondary accident is a real possibility so have an escape path at all times , don't go under or inbetween any of the cars involved. All seems like common sense but its easily forgotten in any type of emergency situation. My wife was involved in a serious head on collision 2 years ago. First people to stop had zero training in first aid, but had cell phones and provided her with the reassurance that 911 was called. She was grateful they stopped.
  4. Some great pics. Heres Jasper,
  5. Nice work, keep at em !!! I've had a few encounters now with the dogs and yotes.
  6. With all that walking, come spring you'll be a lean mean bush whacking Steelie machine !!! Nice laker!
  7. Make sure your survival suit is completely clear of the "drop zone" On our yearly trip to North we had a buddy that didn't clear his suit and never noticed, pulled the suit back on and fished the rest of the day with an unwanted guest aboard.
  8. At least he remembered to put his four way lights on after the accident LOL!!
  9. I would'nt believe everything you hear on the news LOL And victims / residents already do pay for training of firefighters. That's why you pay taxes!!
  10. Thanks, guys like you are guaranteed job security for emergency services LOL!! What you have to realize is that in any scenario you put the public at risk. Example, guys out fishing 75 yards from you go threw the ice, you likely just don't watch, human nature ( most times) says you try and help. The result is joe public also risking his life to help someone in distress. Emergency services aren't the only one risking their lives. Look at the big picture.
  11. Or someone has the big one dragging your gear up that hellish slope at Bear Point, and a truck with four firefighters, and the another truck( EMS) staffed with advanced ALS medics ( 2) tries to save their life. Don't forget Police, they,ll also be helping, securing your valuables, gathering info in order to contact a relative or friend, and helping mitigate traffic to get someone outta there quick. I'd pay for that! And you do it's built into your taxes.
  12. Google how many Cops or firefighters are killed each year Just responding to calls be it water rescue, assaults, vechicle accidents etc..
  13. Again, great info guys. Thanks!!
  14. HAHAAHA! ATV will get me further down the trail allowing more time for bush whacking !! you gotta come along to some of the places i've been targeting Coyotes , the bush whacking is brutal !!
  15. Great info! i am kind of leaning towards the honda foreman. Just swung by the dealer again and also looked at the Rubicon 500 with a carbureted engine. now another question .... Carb or fuel injected for the engine ?? like the idea of being able to trouble shoot the carbureted engine as im more familiar with it, but is the injection a better option for an ATV? thanks again for the info
  16. Hey guys, got the go ahead to finally purchase my first machine, now which one. My knowledge is limited to what I've read on the net and dealership visits. ATV will be used for backwoods fishing, ice fishing, hunting and Plowing the driveway (this is how it was justified to the wife LOL) Was looking at the Hondas in the 500 class but would the 420 be enough? Can Am is an option as well as Polaris. If you have opinions I'd love to hear them. Thanks RM
  17. Yes it does, spend $$ on good tires !!! LOL
  18. LOL. No I haven't .
  19. Those red and white patterns look deadly !!!
  20. I checked into that when it was offered Not totally free, as is the case most times LOL. Was set to grab a Power Wagon at the time. A 2011 with a blown Tranny is kind of odd for any brand I would think, glad it went while under warranty . Megacabs are a little tricker to find . Only downside is god forbid you have to turn around on a tight logging road, 18 pt turn and you may be turned around . Or how about when your wife wedges it in a ATM drive through :wallbash: :wallbash:
  21. Love my 2007 Ram Megacab (Hemi). So far no complaints, had a seal go on the front diff @ 90000km but was repaired no questions asked . Its a beast of a truck, so its not great on fuel but i knew that going into it. Gas is offset by our VW TDI car . Its driven hard, put through the paces in the back roads and she's not let me down yet. Before I bought, i talked with a few of our fleet mechanics (City of Toronto) about issues with the Dodge VS Ford as the city has both in the fleet. Dodge was the winner hands down, and city vehicles are not likely babied. I will start shopping for a new one next year, this time I,m going with the Ram Megacab with a Cummins. Good luck in the search! R
  22. Looks great !!!! Nice work, Glad it went to a good home. R
  23. Sounds like a hybrid. Those are the ones I really don't trust. R
  24. Good on ya, hopefully it works. I actually rotate areas the dog hunts just to try and exercise some form of conservation. Would be easy to clean em all out in some areas.
