I never heard about the tool allowance, but I did hear about teh $1000 grant for 1st and 2nd year apprentices to help them out with tools, school tuition, etc. Definitely worth utilizing.

Truly a classic! I even own that DVD, and still can't see it to many times. I'd love to spend a day on the water with ol' Bill!

I'd say she is the prettiest sight you ever laid eyes on! Good luck and congrats! I just hope this version of "Sea King" is more reliable than the military helicopter version! LOL

Is it possible that this problem is vacuum related? I always thought the vacuum system had some control over the ventilation system. If he has a minor leak, maybe the higher revs when moving compensates for some vacuum loss? Anyways, just a thought. You folks are the auto specialists, so I'm really just guessing.

Sorry Jason, excellent shots as well on your part. That does look like a very pretty farm that you live on! I can't wait to try and take some shots of deer in the near future as well. -

Great info Dan, as always! I have not seen it expressed that clearly before! I'll be watching for your articles as well...great idea! You have already helped me out quite a bit and I can only learn more from people in the know such as yourself. Thanks! -
Clampet, I've sen similar ideas, but your collapsible painters poles make a big difference. Good idea!

Thanks everyone! From what I've read here and learned from a few others at work, I really don't need anything bigger than a 400. I have no desire to fly through the woods at high speed, and I don't expect to make it work that hard... well except for haulin' my arse around. LOL Deano, which machine is which in the pictures? The Honda does seem a little more pricey, but the lack of belts seems to be a good idea. If anyone has one for sale or knows of one out there, please PM me. Thanks again!

Thanks guys...all good info. Please keep the opinions coming. Tom, I can see what you mean about the sled being better in the deep stuff, but down here, I think I could get more hours of use out of the quad. Skeeter99, is yours very similar to the one your buddy just sold? Wish I had seen that one sooner! LOL Smokey, is the 400 to 500 range about the norm? I can't see getting a machine up over 600, but if the right deal came aliong, who knows. Anyone push snow with one?

I PM'd Tracker (Don) about his, but I know lot's of you folk have them as well. What can you tell me to look for..or stay away from for that matter. I would be looking at one for just running around on, and of course also doing a little work (snow plowing and hauling wood) and fun on the ice for ice fishing. I would think for use in the snow, 4 x 4 is a must, but what about engine size or brands? Thanks

At $12.00 per month rental, the tank is paid for in less than 3 years. I replaced mine in Aug. 2003. I already had a "B" vent chimney and installed it myself. I also found that buying it from Home Depot was easier and cheaper than through the wholesalers we deal with! When we first started out, the rental rate was $4.00 per month. The gas utilities tried a scam a number of years back where if the tank was within a certain number of years from installed date, they charged you a pro rated fee to remove it. That was fought and they soon had to give in on that one. I think if the tank is at least 10 or 15 years old, all you have to do is call them and they come get the old one for free. Remember, if you yank it out yourself, it is still their property. make sure they are the ones to come get it. If you toss it out on the boulevard and some scrap guy picks it up, you could be on the hook for it. Another thing to consider...the old one could be a whole lot heavier than the new one if it is full of scale! Just drain the water from it and call them to come get it out of the basement! You should always make a habit of draining a little water off the drain port every year (or more often) to remove any sediment buid-up. This sediment or loose scale can insulate teh tank from the burner and cause a decrease in efficiency and extend recovery times.

Well folks, after many years of being spoiled by having high speed connection available at home...it looks like we might be headed for the boonies in the very near future! Has anyone been using satellite connection? What are your thoughts? I'm currently on Sympatico ADSL and have no complaints. I do know it will be more costly on satellite. "Line of site" is not even available, so it looks like satellite is the only hope. Thanks

Nice work as always Jack! True talent!

When I set out to buy mine a couple of years ago, I got to try different ones at the G2G's on Simcoe. I was told to go with teh Finn Bore III and I did. Mine is a 6" model and cuts through 2 feet of ice like butter!

Hey Lew, you did the right thing. The rest was not up to you. At least YOU know you tried, and that is what counts.

Thanks Misfish! I wonder why they are the only ones in the GTA to carry it? Any idea if they have a model equipped with floats? LOL
