  1. I say "There is a fish" followed by "that's what we came for" or "that's what I am talking about" when fishing a tournament with friends only and they are in earshot (within a mile) I just yell as loud as I can usually "YEAH!!!!" followed again with "THAT'S WHAT I AM TALKIN ABOUT!!!" When fish aren't biting I just yell a bit "COME OOOOOOOONN FISH!"
  2. Nice!! Makes me hungry. 14" is a nice perch indeed.
  3. Are white tube jigs worth giving a try on Simcoe through the ice for lakers or is it a waste of time? I have seen them used on other lakes in the spring.
  4. Too bad you didn't live near me. I would lend you my trailer so you could get it home. That offer stands. I don't know where up there is but if you are passing through Barrie and you need a trailer, let me know. You could use the trailer to get your boat home and bring it back to me. If you get it home early enough you can have feb and march to work on it. Perfect timing if youask me.
  5. Sweet! Congrats on a new boat! Looks just like my boat "Tony" except yours looks much newer, deeper and nice. lol I go out on Simcoe in my boat all the time (just check direction of wind and fish in appropriate spots). Managed to catch some really nice fish out of "Tony" and managed to pick up 3 motors for free. 2 of the motors needed minor repairs and the third was a loner that we were allowed to use all summer (6 hp yamaha). I also got a free fish finder (1985 LCR 2000) from my dad. Banged all the rivets with hammers on both sides simultaneously. Still leaks but I whatever. I also got a free trailer and put some fenders on it and painted it. I also got 2 deep cycle batteries and a 55 pound thrust motor guide bow mount electric for free. I also bought a cannon downrigger for $5 at a garage sale and it had a cannon ball on it as well. I also got a pail full of cannon balls (7 of them) for free. Wow a lot of alsos in that message. My point is that it doesn't cost much if you look around and ask people. You are very young, don't be afraid to ask for stuff. I am very greatful to all the people who donated stuff to me. I really like my boat (despite its small size, narrow beam, the leaks and the fact that it is not that stable). Those little boats can go places bigger boats cannot. Mike the Bass is ready to hit some shallow slop. Just have the safety stuff with you and replace the wood in transom. I also repalced lots of the screws. I mad a casting platform up front and a platform for the electric as well. Have fun with it. I even made my own oars out of fenceboard but was later donated real ones. It can be done really cheap. My boat and trailer could only wish to look as nice as yours.
  6. I live in Barrie. I visit Lou's shop regularly. His jigs are good no doubt. You can also buy (which I have a few of) some cheeper Matzuo jigs. Not the exact same quality (paint chips off a bit)but they do work and they are like $6.99 for about 6.
  7. Went to both CTCs in Barrie. Sleds sold out. Same thing happened to the Berkley ice fishing kit and the survival suits in previous week sales. I only saw those products (saw them both today) after the sale. Weird.
  8. Nice job. Don't lose that truck.
  9. Probably just being funny ie "I am not going to watch the show again because I didn't win." He was probably just joking around but you know how it is hard to get sarcasm across on a computer unless you write the words 'insert sarcasm'. I may be wrong about that but I hope that Radnine was just trying to be funny. That is the way I am choosing to take it. Hopefully I am right. The show is a good show and they teach great lessons on water that is familiar or close to most of us. I owe my 3 PB bass to the Extreme guys (Karl and Mark especially). For that I would like to thank them and to tell them to keep up the good work. I WILL WATCH THE SHOW AGAIN!
  10. nice catches. I love how you lip a walleye. Too funny
  11. I often think the exact same thing. Even in the summer I can go out and catch 100 perch in a day. in the fall when they come into kempenfelt and congregate between the fountain and the tiffen launch, you can easily catch 50 perch in an hour or so. It does actually make you wonder how many perch there must be in that lake.
  12. Great fish! Even a nice norther in the mix. Those are some great musky. THose smallies are all footballs. Nice!
  13. Hopefully they will help make those musky huge in the next 5 -10 years.
  14. I was thinking the exact same thing lol.
  15. I have met many of the top riders and drivers. They are some very professional people. THey really do look out for each other in what could be described as one of the most dangerous sports in the world. I have also eaten dinner with Juta Kleinschmidt. She is an amazing pilot and actually won Dakar back in 2001. I have also sat in a some of the best cars. I have great pictures I should share. Having lived in Abu Dhabi and Dubai for almost 8 years I got into offroading (both 4wd and bike) in the dunes quite a bit. I have watched the UAE desert challenge several times (that is where all the drivers compete), and have actually worked at and stayed over at the bivouac during the race. To see these guys attack unknown dunes and gatch roads at ridiculous speeds is truly a spectacle that I recommend.
  16. I am the praying kind. Prayer done for her, you and your wife and the doctors. take care
  17. Pretty sure all perch that size should be eaten, although I could be completely wrong as well.
  18. I guess that lift didn't help either. Not to mention the non-functional hood scoups and the 5.4 stickers (which by the way add 50 hp each)
  19. I don't do dumb stuff. Oh wait, yes I do.
  20. rod and reel last year. My own fault, using minnow pail as a rod holder. Also lost a strainer. Could not find my ice scoop so I was using the steel vegetable strainer. My wife is still wondering where our strainer went. I just shake my head and shrug my shoulders. lol
  21. Seeing as you are not flippin i would probably opt for a 7' m or mh. I have recently been leaning toward the longer baitcasting faster rod compared with the conventional 6'6" mh. I like the extra length and flexibility for crankin, spinnerbait and jerkbait fishin. As long as I don't have to fish the slop. If you do fish slop go for the heavy option. just an opinion though.
  22. Gulp fry is crazy. Works well in the sume set up as a drop shot. I also drop shot micro tubes. 2 or 3 at a time using 3 different colours. I drop shotted loads for fish through the ice last year with success.
  23. One of the boys from Gatineau catches them in the winter. They are open there in the winter. He has a very cool pic of a smallie through the ice. My question is this: Why doesn't anyone catch oos bass on simcoe by accident. I don't target them during winter obviously but I have never heard of anyone on simcoe actually catching one. Just wondering if anyone has ever caught one on simcoe through the ice?
  24. Congrats Rob. Hope you got most of your fishing in last year. LOL take care
  25. Thanks that is not safe enough for me yet.
