  1. slammers tubes a crankbait (cant tell you which one though)
  2. very cool Brandon. I liked everything about that vid. Taping editing shots hookset and fish. Loved it.
  3. I got home and my 8 year old daughter wanted to take her friend fishing for 1 hour. I looked at the radar and listened to the forecast and seeing as the thunderstorm warning had been lifted I said why not. On the way to the lake I heard on the news they were watching a front on Lake huron that might hit us late in the evening. I am thinking ok, no probs going out for one hour. I decided to try for some lakers/whities near shanty bay, about 5-6 miles from launch. I did not want to go too far just in case a storm would come in. Oh the irony. It was beautiful and sunny and then at about 6:05 I look up and it looks a bit grey in Barrie. I tell the girls that we are going to pull anchor and head home. I get the anchor up and look toward barrie again and now it is very dark grey. Wow, I thought, that does not look good. I start the boat and begin heading home. In about halfway I see a line on the water that goes from glass to crazy whitecaps. I enter into the wind/whitecap area and it is insane. There are million of whitecaps and they are tiny, like 6" tall. THe whole lake surface is white and just ahead of me 3 water spouts begin to form. I am trying to think of what to do as I am heading for them. I feel the bow of the boat wanting to lift up. I look back to where I came from and it is still clear and I almost turn back to head toward orillia but instead decide to head closer to shore where the wind is less. I am now thinking I might be able to run beat this storm (the rain part) if I really peg it but I have 2 8 year olds with me so I decide in my mind to find a dock, tie up and wait it out under someones boat house. Just as I am thinkig this, a lady and her son wave to us so I turn in. She asks if I want to tie up and I say yes. SHe invited us in to her house and we wait the storm out. Very cool lady. Rain shows up in Biblical proprtions along with copius amounts of lightning. I am glad I was able to take refuge. I did have a handheld radio. Learning experience for me. Despite knowing Simcoe and its ability to whip up quickly I still got caught I would consider myself to be experienced on Simcoe. Always take precaution. My day could have turned out worse. Hsving said that, I have never ever seen a storm roll in as fast as that one.
  4. I have one of those little ctc bbqs. I used it yesterday and tonight. I ran out propane on the big bbq. Anyway, I cooked 6 big burgers on it yesterday and 6 chicken breasts on it today. It works well but cooks way better in the middle of the bbq than on the edges. PS It takes a few minutes to put it together but it works well to my surprise. hth
  5. Nope. If I saw you I would say hey. Been busy swimming in pool for past 3 days. Love this weather
  6. I got out for a little bit after work on Friday night and found fish but they would not commit. Only things biting were herring. Got a bunch of those.. Mmmmm. Love the way they taste. Just kidding. We threw them all back.
  7. Don't expect to get off that easy. I bought from them a $69 reel once and when all was said and done it cost me $94 despite only being quoted $10 for shipping. Our border adds a handling fee(like $7.50 to open the box I guess)??? and some duty.
  8. I must admit I never got crapped on in the mouth but pretty close.
  9. Really depends what you are looking for. Crankbaits such as big os or warts and lipless is a no brainer. Toplak's is by far the best. Keep orders under $40 and there is no duty and shipping is only $3.99. It gets here fast tyoo.
  10. wow. those days seem so far away. I remember getting pooped on almost daily. 3 kids, no diapers anymore. woohoo.
  11. +1 for wearing the PFD. +1 for catching fish. A big +1 for that seet moustache of yours. -1 for the glove (you need to man up a bit on the glove front) Congrats.
  12. yep, I bet I could "self-deploy" one of those hooks into my hand within the first 15 seconds of handling it. During a staff meating on how to properly use an epipen, I managed to inject myself with a live pen through my thumb. Fastest way to end a staff meeting.
  13. depending on conditions. From 6" to 24". If I cast away from the boat I use longer lead. Directly below the boat I usually go 12"
  14. I know a guy in Barrie who charters on a 27' boat. Not sure about the jigging but def does trolling. His name is Dennis Blanchette. Not sure what his phone number is but he is listed in the phone book. It is a Barrie number. With regards to Gbay, call up the tackle shop in Midland. Can't think of that name either and talk to Bryan Berriault. He will know someone for sure. HTH
  15. 1/4 oz maybe 3/8 if there is small current. I have fished 1/2 oz
  16. You don't need drop shot weights. You can use bell sinkers and save some money.
  17. Strikezone slammer Big O Subwat 7cm tube senko x-rap
  18. Seriously? You didn't vote Conservative? I am surprised. I figured you bled blue.
  19. PS. Who here was expecting that tumour to burst open on Hominick's head and his brain to fall out? I was expecting his brain or an alien or something. "Hey you Guys!!!"
  20. Hominick is insane. All heart. Typical George. Way more talent but no finish. Same speech too. I am sorry to da fans. Jake Shields is very tough blah blah blah. I love George but ever since he got caught by Serra he fights the safe fight.
  21. Level should be quite high I imagine. I am always there late June and it is still up. I can get my boatinto the shallow bay just before the 400 overpass at that time. My buddy said there were some good rapids through there though a couple years ago around that time and they overturned their canoe. A bit cold and wet but everyone was fine. I will try and get hold of him and ask him about water levels.
