Wonder if there are any criminal code charges along with this? I'm no legal expert, and don't have all the facts, but I think he's kinda of lucky they charged him with carless use of a firearm for hunting under the FWCA and not careless use of a firearm under the criminal code. Or both.

Been running a stradic very hard over the past few years with no issues. I try to keep it clean but it's been dunked many times, dropped in sand and mud a couple times and has held up.

Have a look at this if you want some info; http://www.tackletour.com/reviewfluorocarbon2.html

If you've got the money you can definitely do better than the fuji (but it's good for $150 or so). At work I have an olympus tough, not sure of the exact model, and it's good too.

Currently it is a mix of stocked fish and natural reproduction. In the Canadian tribs it's mostly wild fish that are returning. The core issue is that since it's stocked, some see it as a put and take. It still is a healthy fishery, but it could be much more and not as reliant on stocking. As far as number go about 20 years ago the spring run in the Ganny was ~15000 fish. Now it's ~5000, maybe. As mentioned the Americans lowered their limits and supposedly the fishing has greatly increased since.

The fugi is a nice camera, it's very simple to use. But it doesn't have a lot of the settings options that some of the other camera do. If you're a simple point and clicker this will work great for you. The timer is nice as you can position the camera, push the shutter and you've got 10 seconds to pose with the fish (but this doesn't always work well on bright days).

I agree completely. Those pics with 25 fish layed out on the grass are disgusting. I'm glad it's being changed, just surprised I haven't heard more about it.
-
I'm sure that will cause a bit of uproar with the blue zone crowd. And the charters of course. I'd actually be quite surprised if that change was made.

Good stuff. I can see from the pics that you guys battled some ice and slush, how bad was it? I'm really hoping the ice can hold off so I can get out this weekend. But I'm not too optimistic about that.

Has anyone heard any rumors of any significant changes in the new regs?
-
Unfortunately this is a common misconception. Removal of large fish does not guarantee smaller fish will take their place. Just as in people, genetics play a significant role in determining the size a fish can grow to. Some fish can grow to trophy stature while others just never will. It's a beauty fish and as for keeping it, well... I'm sure there will be many differing opinions on this.

Worst part is they think it's an inside job, someone knew what was in the car. There aren't words strong enough to express how disgusting this is.

Apparently this is a real photo. http://news.therecord.com/News/CanadaWorld/article/820266

A 10lb bass would be awesome, but you're not going to find anything in Ontario that rival a tarpon. But tarpon trips are pricey so be prepared.
-
Yep, but not just the inside parts. Different materials and/or finishing to prevent the salt damage.

many pet stores sell this kind of thing as lizard food. Hit up your local petsmart.

Ya that's probably the truth. I can smell an intense battle between them this year.......for the 11th seed in the East.

Why do Fishing shows promote this ?
timmeh replied to AverageJoeFishing's topic in General Discussion
I agree with Dan about fishing barbless and with no live bait. It's usually very easy to remove barbless hooks even if they are deep, so I assume they'll fall out relatively soon. I personally think only barbless hooks should be legal. But I agree with you about fishing shows promoting that when there are easy alternatives. What I do is carry small wire cutters with me. That way when I occasionally deep hook fish I can cut the hook and leave only a small point still in the fish. That way no big jigs or lures stuck in. I believe this gives the fish a much better chance. -
Time has come for a new pair of breathable waders as the old ones have been repaired one time too many now. Curious as to any opinions on redington waders?

Any thoughts what this is Shad maybe

could well be a gizzard shad. Did you notice if the back of the dorsal fin was particularly long? -
Nice fish, the smallies can really put up a battle. I find this time of year they can be hit and miss, as they're on the move so finding them is tougher, but when you do it's fun. Well first off a 17" river fish is a nice fish for rivers in S Ont. Of course there are bigger ones out there but you don't find them everyday. Thing is river smallies are slowwww growers. An 18" fish may easily be 20 or more years old. The problem is too many people have the annoying habit of keeping those big fish. Not trying to stir up crap here but it's obvious with such slow growing fish C&R is essential. Or course if you want to catch 18+ more consistently you'll have to try the lakes.

Fishing Destination Based On What You Read
timmeh replied to asdve23rveavwa's topic in General Discussion
If it's just a day trip within a few hours reports on here (or anywhere) have little impact on my decision. I've usually got a plan in mind already. Plus I enjoy exploring new areas anyhow. Many times I'll pass over spots I know are productive just for a change. Also I like to make own call on how good the fishing is, my definition of a good day fishing may be much different than the next anglers. I'd rather hike miles, fish in peace and catch a couple fish than pile into hot spots and catch more. However when going on a longer trip it's always nice to get a little info to get you started. When you're paying good money to go to a lodge it's nice to get some feedback from someone who's already been there.
