  3. I like Sparks. He is a solid back up.
  4. Ah the life of taking vacations. Never knew they were this good. LOL Thanks toonbye I have heard a rumor, hippy life is good up yer way. I,ll check in a couple of days. Plenty of time for that life style.
  5. LOL While I was floating about on my toon this morning, I heard the results of the game and said to self, MATT is going to giver to the LAFF fans. Bask in it now Matt. Babs is playing his game.
  6. Woke up to a sprinkle this morning. Apparently, it rained hard all night,( but never heard a thing ) Fog filled the open air , the temp was 18 deg. With a window of about 3 hours before the real rains came again, I set off. No fooling around. Get out, try to hook up and have some FUN. The sprinkles continued for the first hour. The air was warm, rain the same, and here I was sitting on the toon wearing shorts and a T, again. No rain jacket. No time for dat. The light breeze was from the north/east. First day in many, the bay had a bit of a roll to it. I like this over calm, as when you dead stick, the bait will have some movement. Like a natural bait fish. I just rest the rod on the toon, sit back, sip on my java, listen to tunes, haul on a gifted Russian cigar, and watch the screen. Lazy mans jigging. LOL I started with my go to swim bait. The one that has been working. It wasn't long till they showed up and chased. And chased. And chased. Here we go again. Good thing I brought lots of quarters today to put in the machine. I was not moving. I set out my 150 ft of anchor, and I was not pull up. I was determined to get hooked up before the rain storm set in. I look in my tickle trunk box and see an old swim bait package. I have caught lakers on this before. it,s about 4". Then in a bag, theres those red fish head jigs I got off of Bruce. So I set them up and down it went. I start marking it at 50-60-70. Then like clock work, one starts streaming up from the depths. I let the bait fall til they are 5 ft from each other. Lock and load time. Reel the bait at the same speed the chasers is going. We made it to the 70 ft mark and it was, HOOK UP. The battle was great. A couple of long shoots to the bottom, but managed to get it top side. That fish head jig was buried in it,s yap. Super sharp and strong shank. Just as I get it unbutton and released, the rain was coming fast up the bay. I was happy to land a fish, and can say that Bruce's product, is well, up to laker standards. Great jigs Bruce. Going to make the best of this laker stuff til season close. I dont really target them in the winter, white fish is my game then. Fighting lakers on the toon is a blast. Need to check the piggy bank for more quarters. This game is addicting.
  7. Thats a big one for sure Mike. Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. LOL Grats to you on a beasty.
  8. Thats a sweet shot. Sky was on fire this morning
  9. Yup. I hate wasting a good sunrise morning.
  10. I love the laker chase video game . Always worth the quarter to play. Today , I deposited probly 5 bucks worth to play. I was chasing my tail off to find them, and to get them. So many chases and no hook ups. Im using 2 new reels for this game. Both are ABU series reels. Ones a ABU Special, the other a ABU C4. I found that both will cover a lot of water when reeling. I could reel inn 10 fow in a matter of no time. I tried different retrieve speeds. They would follow then just drop off the bait. Was I going to slow, too fast. I was beside myself. After covering about a 5 km square mile in 5 hours, I decide to head in for some perch fishing. They are always willing to play. On my way in, I marked. No way, they have been shallow all this time ? Drop my bait . The first one zoomed up, followed at a slow retrieve then went back down. NOOOOO ,what am I doing wrong. I dropped the bait back down and let it sit 15 ft above the bottom. One came up slowly. I do mean slow. He came up 5 ft, stopped. I wiggle the bait. He comes another 5ft up. Then he makes his move. I figured I had nothing to lose here, so I reeled that bait at full wind. Didn't he just rocket after the bait and stop me dead. Hook set and the fight was on. The battle was a good long one. I thought it was going to be a tank, but it was a nice fatty with shoulders. Once I got it landed, it was burping . The best thing that could happen. Easy torpedo release. Just as I give it the ole heave ho, I hear BEEP BEEP BEEP. Go pro dead. Oh well, I seen it go all the way to the depths to play another day. It was a glorious morning/day, I don't recall this kind of stretch, where Simcoe offered up such calm waters and warmer then norm temps. Nice start to my, day one of 9, vacation. In the video, I talk about all the loons. There had to be a 100 of them all around me. Has anyone else seen them out there? I was in awe at the numbers.
  11. Welcome to the you tubies club Great video
  12. Nice pickerel Rick. Not sure what that shiny thing is at the top. Nice to see you kept G,s T-Ball bat.
  13. Shoreline temp was 62 this morning. As I made it out to deeper grounds, it was 68. My flipping calves, were thankful. T,s and shorts still. I found a huge pod of perch in 80 fow, Stacked from 0-60 fow. They were moving along a west directional line.
  14. This is newfienezz He meant to say,,,,,,,,,,, My PFD,s is legal bye, dey never leaves da boat bye. Right on eh bye,. LOL Right on brother S
  15. Good choice and LMAO. I used the link I posted to get a deal at my local CTC. Printed it off and showed the manager. Never asked if it was US $, Which it was. Shame on me, silly them.
  16. With my suit, I can , put it on.
  17. My suit is NOT APPROVED, so when on a boat, there must be a legal approved PFD. Never read it had to fit over my suit, in a HURRY. Just needs to be on board.
  18. Yup, seen the same on the water this morning. Great shot
  19. Well Simon, I watched this during yesterdays lunch break along with some of the byes . They all had the same reaction as I. PISS OFF. LOL They all couldn't believe you were using live bait, but I assured them, no one sells artificial up your way. LMAO Nice video bud.
  20. Like I have said, owned many one piece, even a top of the line Nautilus, and can say honestly, I have had my cold days in them. You sweat like a pig if you are walking a click or more dragging, even with the zips open. If your sledding, not an issue. The Arctic is even way to warm to keep totally button up while walking, but I do keep it all zipped up, so I have the full potential of the floatation of the suit. A good sweat never hurts though. Once in the hut, coat comes off, heater on, slow cool down. I was always a believer of the one piece, no longer. The Clam Ice Armour I have, is just as super warm, but is not a float suit. Funny how a suit that is related to ice fishing, is not a floater.
  21. Both mine do. LOL See ya on the water soon, tooner.
  22. I just went there. (http://www.4are.com) I dont want side windows, they dont seem to have that option.
  23. My 2 man and smitty fit just right under the cover. A perfect fit really. I even have it laid out for sand bags and salt bags for the winter. 300lbs worth. I just layer them along the side, over the wheel well and back of the box. Once the cold comes, they set in place. Never move. With a cap, I could make a frame for patio stones to lay on the bed..
  24. Smoked, vaped, got sick from vape, stopped for 3 months. Hung with smokers at work, never bothered me. One day stupid me said, ah, just a cigar cant hurt while fishing the cold rivers. ( was always something I loved ) Well, It did. Smoking cigars still. Stupid I. Oh well, maybe one day again I will try. Good luck Simon.
  25. And we ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ both ice fish a lot. Warmth and comfort, along with the flotation, is A+ with this suit.
