  1. Williams spoon. Catches everything.
  2. I have to admit, when I go to the one in Vaughan, it is not busy. Then again, Im not there during the peak seasons. Hunting for one. Im sure it,s very busy then. What I like about the store is the vast variety and their prices. They beat BPS on most things I want. Heck, even Wal mart. Edit to add, I support the local shop here, but he cant carry everything.
  3. They had their chance here when Target closed up. Now it,s a Toy R Us. Closing up stores in the states and opened a new one in Barrie? REALLY???????? I believe the land that holds this large mega store collaboration, is American owned. I see sails opening up here in a year or two. I have also been trying to find out when the Cabelas.ca here, changes it,s name to BPS. They say they are Canadian owned and no affiliation. Hence why when you asked to have a item shipped up from the American store, they said no, we don't do that.
  4. Ya bunch of criminals...........................
  5. I think he sold them. Unless your the guy that he was referring to in pm. That works Chuck. Let me know if you buy.
  6. Thanks guys. We can all follow the crowds, that is a given. But when you can get out there and find something new, it,s a great feeling. I have a large weed bed area I want to try later for perch. I know there is no one that fishes it. There is perch and pike there during the open water. Time spent looking will tell.
  7. Ah, the old, ran out of gas routine. LOL
  8. Nope, it,s a mini yimmydude.
  9. I see some that are through line floats. Possible you could separate and give me a count and a price ? Shipped to Barrie. Thanks Edit to add, I have dealt with the op. Great guy and always was satisfied with my purchases.
  10. To funny bud. Been along time since I enjoyed a newf with a great sense of humor.
  11. Superb.
  12. I did notice yer water level in the bucket and thought maybe Joy didnt give ya enough, but I kinda knew better then to ask,LOL As for the start of yer day, I can relate at times. LMAO Yer good ole bye,s in my book.
  13. I have been trying something different from time to time. Looking for feeder creeks that flow out to large flats. Walking these feeder creeks in the spring, I have found huge schools of shinners in them. I have found 2 that seem to hold fish, and now, 3. My hopes today were not great, as I knew the recent thaw would make the waters murky. Being a new area, I waited til a bit of light had started. This morning I was not dragging the hut. Just the boggan and the essentials. I was going to be moving a bunch today. As I walked out, I drilled and drop the ducer to see my depth. First spot was 20 fow. Stopped and jigged a bit and had a large school of herring. These were very small. 6"-8". I stayed for about 20 minutes and moved again. Not far from the first. 100ft. Drilled again and was over 31 fow. Lower old faithful once again. It didn't take long again, for a school of herring to start nipping at the williams. Then, much larger marks moved in. They would come for a look, but disappear. Stayed for 30 minutes with the same results. Probly marked 7 good fish. Move time again. I figured I would just head to the edge of the flat and work my way back around the area. I do not have that fancy app or a camera to show me what the bottom texture is like, I use a paper map. Lucky guess on my next location, as I was pretty close to the edge when I drilled my next hole. Set up and start jigging. No clouds of herring and no marks. I bring the Williams half colom, and start big lifts and falls. This seemed to bring some fish in and they would come up to the bait, stick around and back down. Im thinking Im on to something here. Continue with this large lift and fish would do the same. I switch up to a Meegs, then to a verbrado. Same results. I needed a bit of a snack, so put the rod down leaving the williams hanging mid colom. Reach for my sandwich and out of the corner of my eye, I see a streak coming from the bottom. Grab the rod, hold, hold and rip the bait away from the streaker. The mark went up and down and up and down chasing it. Hooked up. At first I thought you stupid herring, but turned out to be a small eater whitefish. A quick snap of the head and one in the bank. I kept moving around finding fish, but no other takers. Went back to my first hole on the way in. Screen was blank for 10 minutes. Started the large lifts again. Big marks show up, but did not take. So I guess my point of this report is,,,,,,,,,,,,, Try something new, as new, could be your next favorite spot. As I walked back, I turned around and said, I,LL BE BACK. They are there, just need to be there on the right day. Sorry for the long read for a small fish, but thought I would share. Came home to the smell of cabbage rolls cooking, so decided to make lunch for Monday Pan fried black bean garlic/sweet chili white fish over noodles. ;D
  14. Here I thought it was going to be a fly fishing thread. Kids and their toys.
  15. Need one to come to Barrie, and put Cabelas in their place. I do not mind driving to Vaughan, but would be nice.
  16. A week or so ago, I get a pm about fishing up here, where to stay and what not. I am always willing to help out those that want the, needs to know. With,n reason. Then the pm reads , 2 newfies coming up. LOL So back and forth go the pms. Everything is set up. Im always out before the fish bite and set up to claim our area. Get the text they are here. Great. I said look for the furthest clam out. They see me and say, see ya soon. Well soon took a bit of time. I keep an eye out the hut winda waiting to see them. Hmmmm, no one close yet. I could hear newfie chattering going on in a distance. Dats got to be dem. Look out the winda and see 2 byes making their way. Slip sliding away. I could tell deez byes were da ones. I cautiously step out of my hut to greet them. ( we will get back to the cautiously thing.) We greet each other and show them a place to set up. I retreat back to my hut and start back to fishing. A few minutes go by and I can here some choice words. Look out da winda and well,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I head out cautiously again, to lend da brudders a hand. Drill them some holes, and help get their pop "OUT" hut set. I have never had a good laugh as I did this morning. I even said, byes, I wont film this. Wish I had now. We finally got it anchored down and set while I kept one eye on my hut the whole time. Once they were set, I retreated back to my hut. Was not the best of day for fishing, as the water was cloudy. Small ponds on the hard water. Holes were acting like flushing toilets. As always though, a day fishing is better then not. Was great to finally meet ya Tender 52 ( Colin ) and yer friend Ryan. Hope the long view of OWL eyes, did not torment him to much. Hope you enjoyed your time on the hard water here. B So back to ( we will get back to the cautiously thing.) The south west wind was crazy. There were times I thought my tent was going to rip off the frame. I was worried about getting off my ars and stepping out, and my hut was going to end up in Beaverton. I threw out the anchor hoping if it did go for a fly, I would be able to run it down. 30-50 km gusts.
  17. No fish today Albert. I had a cow day.
  18. Yes it is Bill. Was out this morning , and the ice is soft. The first 4" of the 12 we have. Water is pooled up and holes look like toilets flushing. Ice is still good to walk on though. No worries there. The problem is the water visibility. Getting cloudy. Marking on the finder was a be atch this morning, and worse as the morning went on.
