i watched an episde once about the green land shark, they looked at the st lawrence but not sure if the found them there

i agree. you guys complain about bottom feeding and all but i bet a lot of you like chicken....like me... but they do live their life in filthy conditions and eat their poo as well. and about the lobster...they were once used as fertilizer...ground up and used as such. catfish meat is mighty fine tasting and has a nice texture to it. just like what the other guys said it's when and where they are caught.

hey mike how's it going? i've actualy tried the siwash into spinners that i make but as you've mentioned it they only come in the bigger sizes...i've looked at several places and same story. what i have been doing now are using gomagatsu hooks forgot what theyare called but i believe the ones that you use for minnows...i'll let you know what they are called as soon as ifind out. i love them on my spoons...esp on cleo's they dont snag as much and they set very well bec of the bend on the hook not like the straight shanks. hope this helps

i am getting into it as well. i am getting my second set up....a 5wt...i have an 8wt set up, st coix imperial, orvis battenkill mid arbor and scientific anglers mastery, pike taper...when i started i had pike and bass in mind. i was dabbing on and off flyfishing for a few years....i spent more time tying flies than actually fishing...but this year i am getting into it more. the thing was i was learning by my self, no tips from experienced fly fishers.just videos and mags. better at casting now, and loving it...keep at it man.

my boss has a similar set up if not the same and he says it costs a fortune to install but worth it .so i guess you are lucky to have such a system. according to him it is very comfrtable in the summer . it all depends i gues how your windows are located. he says its about 20deg. in the summer and the only draw back is in the colder days in the winter it gets cold and e has electric heaters to assist but for the most part he does not need it.he has a big house by the way and he is around orangevile area. he said like yours the heating is looped to the central duct system. so i would imagine there would be a kind of fan and rad inside the duct system. congrats on the new place mike from what he explained to me, its a closed looped system that the pipes containing the liquid goes underground and picks up temps from the ground which is usualy cooler than above ground in the summer and the reverse in the winter....i think they go at least 6ft down. with regards to heat...my boss's takes water and goes through some kind of gyro thing that spins around loops in high speed and the water heats up and that's where you get the heat from.

i picked a couple of handful of them but chickened out as i wasn't sure if they were the right ones, but looking at your pictures i did pick the right ones. is the different kinds of fiddleheads? i read somewhere they ought to be cooked well.

that's nice to hear.i gotta go back and verify with the series # but i am sure glad that its living up to what i read on the net.have you heard of how much they are? now a days. the store i go to is sometimes outdated with the prices. so if anyone bought recently i'd appreciated it if i could know how they go for now a days.

thinking of getting an ultralite setup.i'm pretty much settled on the rod which will be the fenwick hmx ultralite. I saw the daiwa laguna and it felt really solid and i like the fact that it's all metal construction. i'd like to hear your experience with it...it's much appreciated.the one i looked at was about 95 bucks i think is that a fair price or is that outdated for this reel? thanks for any info guys. tight lines

the best way is to go on the water...you'll meet people....that's how i started out...you'll find out stuff and some stuff would leave you scratching ypur head...like the other day i was speaking with this FISHERMAN... said he caught a few tiny ones ...seemed like a nice guy then he said he saw some big ones ...and then he giggles like a school girl and tells me he tries to snag them... but on the positive note i've gotten the best tips from the people i met on the water...

wow sweet fish....i spent the opener working and did a quick fish close to my place but nothing but a sucker. again beauty fishes...i esp like the brown trout.

thanks for the compliments on the reel.well that reel is the "streamline"... at least that's what i call it, although MJL's sounds nice. it was my winter project. was a tank of a pin at first but with a few tips from paul at angling specialties,i was able to refine some of the rough edges. Mike i am taking that double digit steelie seriusly...

they do jump, it's always good to have a canopy anyways to prevent splatter from the filters. as for how long, i have mine for a little over 7 yrs now...
-
oh man cant wait

thanks bly, nice to see your posting again. young one, i do have to fish more....hmmm that is a nice idea ain't it? if only the missy would let me...

second outing on the pin and managed these fingerlings...a sucker and a bow...the bow was acrobatic, multiple jumps and over all not a bad weekday outing. water was gin clear. casted to a spot and a steelhead jumped but missed my fly, saw a few more jumps but i could not get them to bite. switched up flies but to know avail. stuck with the modified wallis cast the whole time. few tangles here and there, but i was happy i didn't snap the line. i took mike's(MJL), about practicing a cast, if you feel that you are a bit tired casting, stop a while then get back to it. i still am not getting he distance and accuracy still needs work but i was able to get it more or less where i need the float to be....well there is always the next outing .... here they are and the mini bow
-
good on you man i am in the same boat as you.started last fall steel heading. finally got my pin together and last sunday was the first time out with it.got skunked but not a bad day overall. workin on my wallis cast as well and like you not getting the distance i wanted...and btw i have swivels on but below the float though.... congrats again
