  1. hi guys i've been using this line and found that it holds it's color pretty well and castability is pretty good...i used to use power pro ( i'll probably get some slack for this ) and the color does not last as long as the super braid from stren, don't get me wrong i like power pro. i've been trying out different kinds...when power pro came out they blew away the competition....i think now adays competition is getting tough just like everything else...just my 2 cents. hey has anyone tried stealth camo by spiderline? any good? looks good and feels good but you'll never know.
  2. cost wise...well i had the strike indicator w/ stand originally. the main body and 2 legs at the front i got around $20(home depot). the rest are materials we had around the shop....it's the time mainly. i fabricated the inserts i used. it's my prototype. i would change some stuff later on but so far it looks and feels light and strong. i'd still keep it simple though. I'm looking into the materials and where to get them better. thanks for all the props guys
  3. those are pretty good ones dave. i'm in my rabbit strip phase as you noticed but i recently discovered the maraboo...great material
  4. fish finder is right...try getting a rod a little on the stiffer side, these flies get heavy when they get wet. i haven't put the stingers yet on my flies but i am planning to. i would imagine a lot of missed strikes if you didn't have em on flies as long as these
  5. thats a pretty cool idea and i'm sure it works. ha ha... i used to wedge my strike indicator in between planks on a dock
  6. here's how it is disassembled
  7. that's a nice fly my friend..what kinda material is the black part? mine as you might have noticed are of similar patterns and colors bec they are what i have left over from last year i favor rabbit strips a lot and of course bucktails. the one with the white skirt produced for me last year. kemper....my set up: 8rod and reel 8wt. forward, floating (scientific anglers, pike taper) i use braided line as leader. i don't like the wire leaders
  8. hometownhandyman, i thought of that but i tried the hex i found were enough to keep the strike indicator and back posts. i used aluminum pipes and both aluminum and nylon inserts so the last thing i wanted to do was to over tighten them and they are easy to hand tighten. the bores are quite snug and gives a nice support. all the legs are screw in type, so the whole thing store nicely. danielm, yup i just have to try em out, i put my rod and reel setup and it looks good. and yes i was aiming for the "light" part, that's why i chose aluminum and nylon inserts with the exeption of the socket heads. thanks randy
  9. cool, and speaking of deer... i saw deer, a herd of them at pearson airport( dixie and midway). i also spotted them at 410 and dixie this year and the year before. just wanted to share
  10. that's a good idea..we didn't have any at the shop at the time but i'll get some...thanks brifshrgy
  11. last ones
  12. here are some more
  13. looked around the internet for patterns and designs and here are some that i have made...enjoy
  14. hi guys.. here's a lil project i have along with tying flies and them spinners. worked on it when i had time to spare at the shop...well there seem to be lots of that nowadays with what's been goin on the last few months. something to cheer us up...hey spring is here!!!!
  15. i use heat shrink tubing on some of my spinners. not all of them though. just the ones that slide too much.
  16. in terms of carp bait have you tried making your own? i get my stuff at bulk barn. they have all sorts of corn meal and flour and brans that you can kinda experiment on, just be creative and think like a fish... oils and essences they have as wel. dunno what your budget is but i use a 9' trollong rod ugly stick with a baitrunner on. rod is 45 bucks i think. i got my strike indicator at angling specialties in mississauga...39 bucks i think the rod pod i am making myself, i am just lucky bec i work at a machine shop i am currently making it. i'll post it when i am done, i only get to it when i have time. there you go bud...carp fishing is addictive. best of luck to you and tight lines
  17. kerry, if i remember it right they were called brass lure bodies got them at angling specialties. i like them actually #6 i like better you can place it just after the spinner. as for the beads after the spinner i find the work well. i know there is a brass piece that usually used like in the ones mepps does. #6 and 7 were one of the first few that i made . as for the large spinners i made an inline once with this huge spinner and put 5 hematite beads and lead wieght and man my rod was bending just retrieving it. i don't do much trolling just casting and retrieving so the depths i controll by counting down and the speed of the retrieve. those are nice spinners you got there. i like the yellow/golden spinner the most.
  18. zib, the spinners with the spun rabbit hair up top bef the spinner haven't caught any yet since i have not used them to fish... i have however tested them on the water to see how they look, and the rabbit hair gives a nice jelly fish like action when you pause and retrive, and the tail end will of course vary depending what kind of soft plastic you dress it with the brown one i chose has a nice action to it, it a saltwater softy from berkely
  19. thanks for the approval guys...the last couple drew fist blood already hehe...smallies mostly, this summer
  20. it was fun making them...for me it was making coming up with the patterns that took time , putting them together was the easy part... as for websites... i don't know of any but i'm sure if you google it you'll find one. i mainly go to le barron's to get some ideas or to any fishing store for that matter. #1 and #2 are the latest ones. i'll be making more pattens with the rabbit hairs.. will be focusing on musky and pike patterns
