  4. I was amazed by solopaddlers rod that Chris built and i have been experimenting with different rods and thought it was time to have a nice one built. So after a lot of of questions, answers and tips from solopaddler, i made up my mind and went ahead a gave Chris "Spiel" a call and made arrangements for the build. I have say i had a nice time planning and getting what i wanted from this build and Chris was the very proffesional and pretty darn good at what he does...didn't take that long and took the extra step to have my tip end of the blank replaced at jc tackle as it broke while he was wrapping the top tip guide, factory defect but as Chris mentioned jc didn't give him any fuss, so thanks to jc as well. With regards to getting what i wanted Chris did an amazing job getting the details done as close as possible to my drawing. especially love the work on the foregrip, it sure exceeded my expectations. These pics dont do the rod justice, although i tried my best to capture it. So ladies and gents the rod.... Foregrip:

  12. i've got mine from canadian bearings and they took a while last november to get the skf stainless, seems like they (skf) are not stocking much of them here. they have to get them all the way from germany. 8 weeks i waited. so do any of you guys use any particular bearing for your centerpins? any input would be much appreciated.also boca bearing, what do you think of them? ten bucks a peice, so i heard.they any good? also one thing, there is a company in china making a killing . they are called ABEC9...as in the company and they are getting confused as the bearing classification. so beware, our supplier told me. their bearing says abec9 on the side, but they are "not abec9's" tight lines

  16. thanks for the kind words but as of the moment, no. i did learn a lot on this project and would probably build a centerpin again

  22. thanks for the kind words. some of the pics are missing...the assembled versions of it. were you guys able to view it? it was there last night. and about the weight..i still have to weigh it and i can tell you it's heavier than a reg pin bec of the stainless back plate
  23. Ever since i have caught my first steelhead last fall, i found an itch that needed to be scratched....man the beauty and fighting power of these fish just amazed me. i fished for them like they did out west...drifting with a baitcaster...it worked well for me and i noticed other guys fishing with centerpins and wow that's a cool fishing reel. i was going to buy one...looked around and got different opinions on diff. brands. and after thinking it through...decided i'd like to build one. Yes, i am addicted to centerpinning. here's how i went through the whole journey....starting with the fish that got me itching after some redesighning bec it weighed like a tank and i choose stainless for the back plate instead of aluminum..here is the final result didn't get the chance to fish it much on spring this yeat and by summer time came work went too busy to squeeze in some fishing it's just lately that i got out to fish and here's the very first test for the pin.... thanks for lookin... tight lines
