  1. Got some encouragement to try this system out and so i did. I tried different flies, roe...pink worm took her It was my first time in this area and didn't quite know what to expect. I was happy 1 for 1 not much but i didn't go home empty handed, plus i got to break in the rod Properly. Now i know how this rod feels fighting fish.
  2. Beauty fish man
  3. Looks awesome, beautyful fish and scenery Tyler
  4. I'm no expert at it but when i started to learn how to cast i startted with the modified wallis cast...it's the only cast i know and use so give it a try. I get good distance and control interms of direction with it. I did try the swivel above the float and i like it, it was good when i was learning the cast and later on stopped it all together.
  5. Wow Mike you the man...always is sweet whoopin some ass after any kind of smack talk Congrats on the whole team.
  6. Definitely a trip to remember for your kids and Good on you for taking them on an adventure like that... you probably get the "best dad ever" vote from them kids
  7. Hey Mike, How's it going? Actually i did make one a few years ago but I left it one fishing trip and never saw it again. It was a bummer i love the underwater photography youve been posting by the way
  8. I don't know which net in the pics you refering to but the black frame is mine and it's a frabill rubberized net fron Le barrons. Hope this helps
  9. Corn on the hair rig was the ticket at that time for me. It was interesting landing them on a slippery bank of rocks on an incline, actually lost a few trying to lift them up the bank, slipped my self a number of times
  10. Thanks Spiel, I just took advantage on the few times i had the chance to go.
  11. I usually just have my camera with me but the 2 times that i went i left them. Thanks for reminding me, i actually have a mini tripod. I am just to lazy to bring it
  12. maybe all that work is just for show....politicians tend to do that
  13. Here' the rest from the past.... The second pic is my pb at 27 lbs.
  14. This year was a blast for me at spring time, they fight well this time I find. They were just rippin line out like crazy. I was in hibernation in terms of carp fishing. I didn't have my full carp gear out and i was about to sell my rod pod, luckily, i did not. I fished with a regular spinning set up and not with the baitrunner so i had to stay close to the rod at all times. At times, I put the reel on neutral position and engage it when the fish takes. Over the years i learned to calm the nerves wen carp takes although it is chalenging when you have been waiting for a while, luckily this season was a great one. Sorry for some of the quality as all were taken from my phone.Enjoy The set up And of course the fishies, these are the ones i was able to take pics of Like i have said they were full of fight and it was esp. cool fighting them on 8lb mono, i did loose a couple of feeders in the beginning but oh well, solved that problem adding braided leaders Here are nicer pics from the years gone by...
  15. good stuff Ryan, we gotta fish one of these days
  16. corn from the can is good, worm is good as well. although at certain times of the day they are not active, which was probably the case. i fish for them at night. they can be caught during the day. I usually catch them on the bottom, number of ways to fish for them, i usually fish for the with a feeder and the hook down bellow on a hair rig...look it up how this rig is done.basically you attract them with the feeder and they feed on it and they hair rig is there with the corn or boilies they suck it and they hook themselves.
  17. Spiel does a phenomenal job no doubt
  18. Those are some nice underwater shots and some of the nicest carp i have seen so far. I started carp fishing again last month and yeah it brings back some memories of years past. Got into a couple and man do they fight well this time of year, esp. when fighting them on 8 lb mono
  19. I can see why they had them live in the tank if that was the case, i know they kill them when they are sold. I know when Paul told me that, i didn't see any live carp in the tanks for a while, now they are back at least at this location
  20. I like that route instead of steel leaders
  21. Just wanted to know, i thought i read somewhere bef. that selling live carp was not permitted anymore? Am i mistaken or am i correct? I was in the understanding that they can only be sold frozen, i myself do not eat them. I saw some being sold today in a live tank, a mirror carp, rare as it is to see them but there it was. So if it's legal all is well but if it's not? Again Paul at angling specialties told me once that they cannot be sold live any more unless the rules have changed .
  22. cool catch Bill for your pop. A little off topic but what kind of leader would you be using if you go after the gars on the fly? i've heard the often get away bec they tend to cut off the lines when they roll over and their long snout does not help.
  23. Spiel would be a good person to ask. I know he strips guides beautifully.
  24. those are some nice fish pics and even nicer scenery
  25. Have you tried heating the plug red hot then spraying wd 40 at it to cool it down rapidly and to penetrate into the threads? This is a trick that works like a charm at our shop when it comes to taking ceased up bolts.
