hit Victoria harbour around 7 am and spent about 4 hours washing lures . Nice day on the water despite the forecast , calm and sticky and vert little boat traffic tb

Good tip John , always check and double check before I head out on ANY water especially GBay and Simcoe. We defineatly should get together this fall , I 'll keep in touch TB

Not sure why but did far less fishing this summer and even less surfing OFC . We did manage a trip to Dryden area with endless walleye caught and even a day to Lac Seul. But that seems long ago . Hoping the change of seasons will result in renewed opportunities to get out there . Hoping maybe Saturday morning for a wet ride around GBAY And have a weekend at the end of sept for a hunt camp clean up which always includes some early morning walleye . Hope everyones had a safe and happy summer talk to you all soon TB

And here I thought you were busy studying Glad to see some pics of those fish you've been talking about. Take care and be safe . Mom says hi TB

My best buddies had the cool cars 69 Belair mid 60s Z28 Duster ( not sure what year ) TR6 But if we were crusin Princess St or Queens University campus ( Kingston in late 70s) it was my car we used most often 1974 VW bug ,orange with two blue front fenders , painted "mags" and snow tires on the rear . It was really a blast on back roads as it could handle the odd off road excursion. More for the laugh factor really , 4 big guys all jammed into what was then a small car . The stereo and two four was worth more than the car. Never had a cool car my self and now.... two mini vans TB

you fooled us all. And I thought I had seen everyting ! TB

yeah they call it 'electro fishing ' maybe thats why there are Carp floating EVERYWHERE. Love storms as well just didn;t want to be sitting in the middle of the lake during one. We were pike fishing last spring with my brother in law and his son . it started to rain and we caught our first fish of the day , druing the next 20 minutes it rained hard and we caught 5 fish including my nephew first Pike . TB

Love that lake No smallies for us either but we did hook into a bowfin a few years back ..lost at the boat . Nice report TB

the wierdest thing was as we were approaching the launch a small boat is leaving headed down the bay ! As sooN as we were safe in the van , they are back at the launch and trying to load .The lightening is still all around and it couldn't rain any harder . Not sure what they were thinking . TB

After a quick weather check ( afternoon thunderstorms) Pikeie and I decided to take advantage of an empty Lake Simcoe and head out for some smallies. Fished hard for 3- 4 hours with little too show expect for one decent size SM along with several small ones and lots of perch . As we were working some nice bolders and sand flats not far from Big Bay Point we heard what I thought was an aluminum boat being pulled along the ground , second time ...no thats thunder . Quickly packed up and headed to Kbay and the launch . Being up against the west shore we hadn't seen the black clouds approaching , in fact we had quite a few sunny breaks during the morning. Coming down the bay at (40 mph plus !) the sky got darker and darker , we stopped and threw on our rain gear . 5 minutes from the launch we start to see lightening in the west ...( damn I wish I had gone for the 115 hp!) Passing Minets point lighting is intensifying (west and north), but the launch is only a minute a way . A fast approach and quick docking I run to the van and back into the launch and load in what I am sure is our fastest time ever As I am pulling out of the launch a lightening strike hits the construction crane directly across the street %$#%@ , loud and blinding ! I turn back to tell Pikeie to jump in the van ...hes gone ...no wait he's under the console . As he jumps in the hard rain decends and keeps up for several minutes . Hindsight kept a closer eye on the weather , especially the west taken shelter way sooner ," any port in a storm " Left the boat at the launch untill the lightening subsided. I'll take wind , waves and cold any time . Can't wait the next time though TB

Friend of mine bought a new trailer from a company in US . He has only a bill of sale ( company name) and they delivered it for him to his cottage in Ontario He is having difficulty getting plates MTO is looking for ownership or documents from florida stating the trailer has never been registered .Neither of which he can get . Because the bill of sale is in a compnay name the local MTO won't allow him to register it with the bill of sale only? I suggested he call it ' homemade' and get it regsitered that way .This worked on an older trailer I got with a boat that had no regsitration documnets and the id plate was too worn to read .The local MTO suggested this as a solution. Anyone have any better ideas? He is only planning the use the trailer twice a year ( in and out) TB

Youngest son has a planned ekg test today at noon and needs to be sleep deprived ..so about to wake him up (2:30 am) Was trying to fiqure out what we can do to make sure he (and I ) stays awake ( no caffine allowed ) he suggested ...fishing ! So we are about to head out for our first truly night time bassin trip , not sure what to expect . Pikie suggested black topwater for LM pretty bloody dark right now no moon to speak of but clear . was planning to travel from Kbay to cooks bay , but may stay closer to launch depending on light levels . Lauderdales $15 in/out park . Fished there last Sunday , left my rear van door wide open all day , came back to find the two boat seats , fly rod still there Good security I guess. Water is high , like everywhere , also try the bay ( not sure of anme ) around to the left of the launch. we did fairly well with 4-5 med size and one over 32 . Left camera at home so no pics. usually fish Sparrow 3-4 times a year .Summer weekends are real busy , but mid week is good . Pretty lake and lot sof good looking shore lines. TB

well got the boat back just on time for the long weekend and yes it was the battery Slightly embarrased to admit that but also glad thats all it was .Still not sure why boosting wasn't working ? New battery including the labour to trouble shoot and taxes for a bit over $100 wasn't too hard to swallow at least . Also had the trim switch at the motor replaced under warranty while it was there . The dealer even took a switch off another new motor instead of me having too wait for the part .Thanks to the team at DT Powersports. we managed a few hours on Sparrow lake Monday and boated 10 or so pike , largest at 32 " . Kept two smaller ones to try out a recipe . Small strips of pike wrapped in bacon , secured with a skewer and BBQd ( great with steak!) sorry no pics as camera was left a home . Hope to get out early next week if the dam winds would stop blowin . TB

Finally Got My Ranger 620 VS Boat Today!!!

Think I saw your boat there last week when I dropped our Lund off for service .Great looking boat and they were good enough to let my kids hop into it and try it out .... just kidding . If Pikeie was there there would have only been a big puddle of drool. Good looking boat ... and my experience with DT ( yes we did buy from them) has been good . TB -
we bought our last Minivan two years ago (HONDA) Bought Honda for two reasons quality reputation , torque ( highest in 2006 for minivans) with 4 wheel disc stopping while while towing the 17' lund and gear is good . At $1.22 glad I didn't by the full size SUV! we rent a four door 2500 series 4x4 the once or twice a year when I need it ...cheaper than owning ! Stay away from Dodge mini vans (unless sort term lease) gm not much better. Looks like thes eare being phased out for 'crossovers' Bro in law has the Suziki and loves it , lots of room althoug he doesn't tow . Next family vehicle would most likley be the mid size suv ( Suzuki , Hyundai or Ford). TB

Thanks all for the help OFNr's are AWESOME Thanks for all the tips and advice as well as Irishfield for offer to trouble shoot Forrest for the battery offer Took in the battery to CTC and it tested AOK about to leave for the dealer and will let all know the result . No fishing plans this weekend so hope to get it resolved by end of next week as I suspect the service dept will be busy TB

had the same thought last night Yellowboat ,was tempted to connect direct but like you thought that may make a bad situation worse What with all the fancy electronics and such ! Will find out soon as its going bacl to dealer tomorrow . also need the trim switch at motor replaced , had teh trim at throttle done last year .not too impressed with the mercury electronics so far ! TB
-
Ok back at it again last night . checked all battery conections , clean and tight, connected booster cables from van to terminals on battery . Only a click from the starter. Tried tapping with a hammer , again only a click . Hooked up the deep cell to the main motor , again only a click . Even if the battery is toast , connecting via booster cables should get the starter to work ..right ? that is assuming its the battery . TB
