  4. Opener was a great day , although I was alone with pikeie up north and Mike ( younger son) thinking 4:30 am was wayyy to early. paid off though , first at the launch and first at my traditional first stop on opening day . nice sunrise , always amazing to see how fast it rises fist few casts and a nice little bass , followed by a second one one cast later ,Fun in the reeds and weeds. then the crowd arrived and the fish seemed to turn off. tried a couple of more spots with no luck . mid morning before the next fish then ..wow almost non stop for better part of an hour ,total of 10 smallies all on perch cranks and tubes . it was a blast .Lost a nice one at the boat when my mono leader snapped. most fish on opener that I can remember. Next week Mike and I tried another fav spot and although the numbers weren't as high the quality was there .Nice to be out Mike as well Mike with a nice largie caught on weightless senkos . Big fish of the day at 19" . broke in my $19 Quantum rod nicely ( thanks Cudz) Belly weighted senko 5 fish in total for the day , bit damp but no complaints TB
  5. Kinda late in posting these from early may . Matt is working at Wiley point Lodge on Lake of the Woods for the summer and decided to send me a few pics. no internet connection so he can only send when he has a trip to Kenora and the time. Of course pike fishing is easy so is is the bass fishing ,open year round THIS is even easier with all the rocks and deadheads around , Not Pikeies work some cool birds as well a view of the Lodge that the 'SILVER BULLIT' docked up front , two 200 hp rudes move it along pretty well 40 mph plus with 14 people and gear on board. shuttle for moving guests and gear to and from the lodge . Finally a nice shot from the dock. An experince he won't soon forget Will be up there myself come Mid august . TB
  6. If you want durable Ugly stik is the way to go , find them real whippy though . tb

  9. Simcoe was kind on the opener ! Didn't hurt that I was first at the launch and first at my fav spot , 3 LM early morning weeds with Senkos .all in the 2 lb range SM were on fire around 9 am , tubes ,perch crank baits on the rocks caught another 10 fish in about an hour and a half .Lost biggest ( pushing 5 lb) at the boat . Would post soem pics but can't seem to get Photobucket to work . Back out tomorrow morning working east shore out fo Orillia . hoping the tSTORMS hold off tonight. TB

  11. wish I had a reason to take a drive your way .. wait fishing is a great reason! Great offer Scott , same here if you are very in the Barrie area ! dave
  12. Been using that ramo for about 6 years ,water is real high for this time of the year which means I have to put all 4 wheels in the water , not such a great idea when launching a 17 footer with a mini van ! Not a bad ramp when conditions are better TB
  13. Finaly got out today for few hours in Cooks bay . Nothing more than a couple of pesky perch hits to show for it . This spring was a complete bust as far as fishing goes .managed two trips( Gbay and Simcoe Pike openers) with no fish for me ! Rest of the time taken up with work and putting a new roof on the house. My Wifes health was not the best ( better now) which also kept me close home. Todays fun started when I tried the free launch at the end of hwy 89 ..bad idea .. barely got out . Followed by a one hour wait for Cooks Marina to open and unlock thier launch.Finished up with one of my LED tail lights not working on the trailer. flat water and hot sun gave up before noon. here hoping Bass opener is better. TB

  18. with the passing of our last dog about a year plus ago it was time to bring in a new member to the family . Sadie is a 13 week old Shepard/lab mix .Great little dog so far .Excellent temperment , no too timid but also not to agressive.House trained 80% of the time and is getting better on the leash . She is a Midland native so I'm hoping she will be some good luck this year on Gbay. TB
  19. well it appears Pikeie is too busy 'working' to post . I do know fishing has been awesome ...OFF THE DOCK !!! Walleye , 36" pike and even an OOS Muskie I know you are having fun Matt , glad to hear you have some pets up there as well Maybe you can add them to your bug collection ! Looking froward to some pictures. Dad
  20. nah who needs maps It was just me not paying close attention and misreading marker bouys where two channels meet .Had slowed right down but not soon enough. TB
  21. I knew you would have something to say I knew there were rocks I just didn't know they were so hard! Actually the section missing start about 1 1/2" up on the leading edge and tapers down towards the prop side .In fact the I don"t think amy material is missing from the side of the skeg next to the skeg. Maybe just hit it with some black spray paint Maybe it'll make me faster too LOL TB
  22. First day out with the boat ( GBAY pike opener) and I maged to take about an 1" of my skeg coming out of Victoria harbour Boat still handles the same .any risk in running it as is ? Prop ( already slightly damaged) escaped further damage TB
  23. Nice work ! and a great day to be out . Our opener on Saturday was fairly prouctive ( untill the rain !) 8 smaller fish with one over 30". The rain seemed to really shut them down . will post a report later. TB
