I just got back from a walk along the creek just south of Winchester on Thornton and not a single fish to be seen. the water was very clear too. Oh well, I was just going for a walk anyway...

I'm sticking with Spider Wire after trying the Fireline Crystal. It casts like dentalfloss. I had half a spool left of it I used it for backing on one of my baitcasters and Spider Wire as my main line. If you are going to try a new braided line try powerpro and a few others but to my the Fireline Crystal is not wort the money. Maybe if it was less then 1/2 of it's current price I would use it to make due but I'm done with it.

Don't do it the weekend of the wedding, you can do it the weekend before. No "entertainment" means anything else. gocarting, shoot pool, poker (the card game ) or even fishing a creek in walking distance at dusk. Have fun and good luck!

Well the "boxing day" of the opener didn't fair so well for me but it was a GREAT DAY! I took my 5-year old daughter out to see if we could catch and or find fish to look at. She was a trooper I tell ya, with her new "big girl" spincaster combo. Jigger and I met at 1:30 and found out that we know each other from way back but neither of us could place just how... Now I feel old, l can't remember things anymore... All in all he went 0/2 and I was skunked. I think I may have only got 20 casts in in the 2 or so hours as I spent more of my time watching my daughter cast. Was it raining, duno, sunny, duno but all I do know is I had a great time spening it fishing with my daughter!!! I can be skunked everytime I go out with her and I wouldn't care, at least while she's pre-teen... Garry2rs, thanks for telling me about that zebco 33 as she loves it and only had 2 casts that were not spot on. Cheers!

just got back from some private propery on Oshawa creek that I have access to and there weren't to many. The water is a little dirty but still fishable. I may head out again when the kids go to bed, we'll see...

great report, good to see you getting out again.

you can go anywhere now. a few days ago you had to stay South of the rail way but now that the season is open you can go where you want to go. I say go for a walk and bring your gear. In another 30 min. I'll be heading out...

Nice on ya (as per our PM's) to get into some fish. Let me know how tomorrow looks for you as I told my daughter if the area is busy I'll call home to let her know it's to busy but if the area is empty she can come and fish with me. You have me cell # so fell free to call or text me, cheers. Geoff

Well today started off great, I got to sleep in to 8. So the family and I (along with about 60 others) were out by 9:00am for the Clean Up Brooklin day. It was great to see so many folks out cleaning up the area we live in from all the winter and blown garbage. After 2 hours of that we had about 30 to 35 FULL bags of garbage and recycle items. Not bad for 2 hours if I do say so and the creek and area looks SOOOO much better. So then was off for some daddy daughter time at Rona for the "Little Hammers Club" and it was fun, just to bad that the kids were no were near srtong enough to pound the wood pins into the precut holes.. Then it was time to spend an hour and a half (just after luch) on the private property I have access to. Needless to say the SUCKERS were in... I was fishing with another person (who did have permission) and he said he only got 2 small rockets all morning. He was in one pool and I was in another and not even 25 min. after I got there "fish on!" and it was a big brute! I didn't get a pic and he said no thanks to any pic's but I would guess it was in the 11LB range and it put up a great fight with lots of jumps too. So I was pumped! Looking at 15 or so suckers and 3 big rainbows in the pool I was fishing and thinking "oh yeah, now he's got one it's my turn". So after trying roe, fake roe, worms, inline spinners and even a crankbait I went home with a HUGE skunk.... Well, if the weather gets better the the river isn't to bad I'll take my little girl out and see if we can get into some fish... Jigger, if you read this I may be able to get out between 1:30 / 2:00 for 2 hours or so... Cheers all and I hope you had a good opener, I did even with the skunk...

HAHAHAHA, it's one I found with google. "Fishermen stand along the top of the dam at Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon, Mo., for the state's trout season opener. Thousands of anglers across Missouri stake out their spots hoping to pull in a trophy sized trout on opening day. " -

I hope to be out Monday...

I knew I missed all the good fun as you and your buddy were pulling out just when I got there. Yes, that was me letting you guys out so I could pull in the parking lot and give it a go just after one...

considering I have never fished that area before, can anyone help out with some shore spots for me and my 5-year old daughter? Not worried about getting a tagged fish, just her catching ANY fish. PM me if you don't want to post it, thanks!!! Geoff

Quick Q for U. Can you hunt a turkey at or near HWY 7 and Brock (the Ajax one)? I only ask as there was 15 birds thier today (in the area just East of Brock) so it got e thinking. Mind you I have never gone hunting, just a Q 4 U all... Cheers.

since I have most of the day to myself I'll be in the river in the AM and if that doesn't go well heading to Sucgog for some Crappie fishing from shore... So that's an Other vote...

just make sure that it's not on private property where you try...

SHHHH, you buy it slowly...keep your change, it adds up and nobody know just how much you have... Thanks. The spoons and inline spinners and all the other stuff is in my travel case (in the car) but some is at the cottage. Hey now, LOL. I need to have lots for me and my wife and kids. My wife will fish off the dock with me at night when the kids are in bed. That is why there is 2 or more of most things. If one of us starts hitting fish the other changes to that bait for some action too.

Well, here is what I have in the basement right now for bass, walleye, pike, musky and panfish. I have more in the car, in the garage and more at the cottage.

holdfast, are you going to be carting the receiver back and forth from home to trailer? if so you can legitimately bring the unit back and forth as you are not at both places at the same time. My father did this with his starchoice receiver and they do not have a problem with it. He even got another receiver for the cottage and they don't care that he has 2 locations. I used a set of walkie talkies when I set mine up. With a rubber band keeping the talk button held down and place it in from of the tv and the other one with you so you can hear. Just like the baby monitor trick...

I have it in a milk crate with a wood top (the display is mounted on the wood) and the 12v is inside. My Honda motor has an alternator adaptor so I bought the cable, this charges the 12v while the motor is running. When I am not in the boat it goes in the boat house.

not to sound like a suck up but I have a huge amount of respect for Dave now. Not only does he do these great events (to bad they were not closer for me), has a well done show but come on to this board all the time and posts. A post like this one saying thanks is huge in my eyes. To me it just shows how much Dave cares for the sport, the fans and community. CHEERS Dave. Oh and JP too...
