awesome pic Deano......the yellow on the left and the green on the right with the clouds give it a sweet look
-
i like the pic a lot......especially the rays of the sun comin through the clouds......the only thing I would do is crop our the power lines......that will also lessen the amount of sky showing and the pic should have a nicer sky/ground ratio
-
oh snap nater's posse is here.......hey Rowbotham.......take the pic into SSFC and get Preslie to look at it......him or Mcgee.....they should know what it is

In the summer while hiking at Cypress Provincial Park, I ended up at this place called Eagle Bluff. From this Bluff you can see all of North Van, West Van, and Vancouver, as well as Bowen Island and Howe Sound. Aside from all those lovely views I also noticed a lighthouse in West Van. I had forgotten about it until last night when I was checking out Google Maps for a place to take pics today. With a 60% chance of rain, taking pictures anywhere was a gamble but with an overcast sky that said "take HDR photos of me", how could I not take the chance of getting wet? Rain was on and off during the 45 minute drive to Lighthouse Park but it held off for almost the entire time I was there. The Lighthouse itself was fenced in so my hopes of getting a photo from the base of it straight up towards the clouds was out of the question so I had to make do with what I had. The actual lighthouse lookout offered a sub-par view of it but still made for a decent photo to start the day.... After the lookout I wanted to see if there were any other trails that followed the shoreline and might offer a better view....East Beach Trail was my first attempt at a better photo op of the lighthouse.... Still not what I was hoping for. I started to wonder if I drove all this way for just a few peeks through the trees at this lighthouse. Before returning back to the main trail I took one more photo from East Beach Trail facing north towards West Van.... After taking a look at an information board with the park map on it, I decided to try West Beach Trail for a better glance of the somewhat elusive lighthouse.... Bingo. This is more of the view I had in mind. These two photos are from the same spot but just composed differently.....personally I prefer the second photo. Continuing west on West Beach Trail I came to another rocky outcrop and snapped one final photo of the lighthouse and went a little extreme with the HDR.... Thanks for reading....

forgot two more photos I took today.......somehow I missed them while putting the other HDR's together...... first one is a huuuuge tree.....some of the trees in the cypress creek area are over 400 years old......i'd say this one comes close.....diameter would have been close to 6 feet and at least 100-150feet tall.....then again its hard to tell height without the proper tools from the ground......the pic just doesn't do it justice and this one is just of the marina in Deep Cove

looks pretty cool.......never thought about taking HDR photos with different settings on the camera
-
...and I ruined the day by taking people hiking with me.......It turns out that when I take photos, I prefer to be alone......I couldn't focus on the task at hand and only came out with 3 decent pics and theyre only decent at best. Well Lesson learned......and here are the pics and my favourite one for last..... btw this was cypress falls/creek again

Finally for the Family, Jury finds Wolf killed their son

sounded like a credible story to me............believe what you want -
Shutter speed and Aperture are both 2 different things....for a clearer, sharp image without a tripod use the shutter speed. The key is to have it as fast as possible without the photo coming out too dark. If you have it too slow, then any slight movement of the camera will ruin the shot as well as the photo may become over exposed because too much light is allowed in......That being said if the shutter speed is too fast the photo will turn out too dark. Just experiment with some different speeds and I'm sure you'll get the hang of it

I remember hearing of a story that took place a couple years ago I believe on a beach on the North end of Superior......a couple was walking along the beach and their 3 year old kid was walking ahead of them.......a wolf came outta the bush and grabbed the kid then dissapeard with it. The dad chased down the wolf and the wolf let the kid go and the guy noticed the wolf was limping......animals will do whatever it takes when in desperation......the wolf probably knew it couldnt catch any prey it normally could so it grabbed the slow moving toddler.......anything can happen -
constant rain is my excuse for no pics recently.....and the stupid time change.......now i get off work and its dark.....not cool.......but nice pic deano
-
sweet dealio.......i'll have to start using that......thanks Deano

I love that 5th pic man.......that ice adds a nice touch to it. And hearing the moose is definatly something neat to hear. When I was guiding bear hunters last summer I startled many bears and they also make quite a commotion as they tear off through the brush

thanks for the kind words everybody. Deano I can't remember what the exact settings were. Is there a way to save them? Or do you just take notes? and Mike I'd love to quit my job and start one in photography but I need better lenses and more variety of them so start up costs would be a couple thousand dollars at least......It'll happen.....just not yet

2 weeks ago I had a job on my schedule in Deep Cove. I had never been there before and when I got there the first thing I thought was "I gotta bring my camera here sometime". Deep Cove is just east of Mt. Seymour Park and its a really nice little town. Since It was a cove I thought some panoramic photos would fit the bill......and with it being overcast, conditions were favourable for HDR..... This first panoramic photo is what you see when you first get to Deep Cove.... Here is a shot of the wharf..... and one more of the wharf but from under it.... And finally one last panoramic photo of Deep Cove but this was taken up the right hand shore of where I took the first photo from....... Ironically the main road running along the coast in Deep Cove is called "Panorama Drive" Thanks for reading

Vancouver........voted best place to live in Canada for 5 years in a row.......its also ranked 3rd best place to live in the world -
man i love the reflection in that first pic

good pics man......and yeah all the settings take some getting used to. for instance say your used to only shooting HDR on sunny or bright days and you get used to using many of the same settings to get your final product.......try the same things for a darker scene and its completely different......just a big learning process
