I am trying to get my son into fishing so he has something other than video games. BTW it is now 5 trips that I have not caught any pickerel, and I am frustrated. How old is your son? My daughter is 10 yrs old and just started fishing with me this year. Her first cast ever, she catches a 30 lb carp... whooo hoooo! HOWEVER. She prefers going for rock bass and blue gills as she outfishes her daddy by a margin of 10-1 ! lol I had to get MY OWN EXPECTATIONS of what i THOUGHT would be HER fishing expectations out of the way and just enjoy the time with her . I hope this helps . God Bless Splashhopper and Botbot

Interesting question, as I was wondering the same thing about me and worms. My fishing buddies use RoE ROE ROE for rainbows and i NEVER catch any on Roe. I throw a worm on and i catch a rainbow. ( i have even tried the GROSS looking LIVE GREEN ones, but to no avail). So, is it the colour of the lure, the preferred type of live bait, or the person's perception of it all? Inquiring minds really DO waana know. Splashhopper

So, between you and Rich, it seems that the "bake it in tinfoil" method is a common approach. What side dish would we serve this with? We are hoping to try this up at Bayfield next weekend, IF i get lucky enough to catch another one. Thanks again OFC. Splashhopper

Any other recipes out there for these. My motherinlaw( deceased now) used to cook em up and my wife(Filipino) loved them, but does not know a recipe for them. Thanks Mr and Mrs Splashhopper

First off let me say this. I LOVE this board. The people here have been VERY GENEROUS with their support and advice. It doesn't matter to me if i don't get as many responses to my questions as some of the NF posts get. I GET QUALITY REPSONSES and LOTS OF ENCOURAGEMENT being the new fishermen that I am. Your post above may have some valid points for YOU but it has certainly not been my experience here. And NO, I am not one of the guys that goes to Lakair. YET ! But i sure hope to one day, AND bring my daughter with me. I did a search of YOUR posts just now and this is what i discovered: Topic - Spring Crappie / Replies - 18 Topic - New Boater / Replies- 40 Topic Boat Equipment - Replies 39 SOOOOOO.. My question to YOU is... How many people HAVE to respond to YOU to stroke your outboard to get it running? Here is a picture of someone that BENEFITTED GREATLY FROM GOOD QUALITY ADVICE THAT WAS GIVEN TO ME freely AND PASSED ON TO HER >>> It was the FIRST FISH SHE EVER CAUGHT! a 30LB CARP ON HER FIRST CAST. She is now PUMPED for fishing and took great pride in outfishing me for crappie and bluegills this weekend too. As a final thought I looked up a word that reminds me of your post>>> bleeding deaconn: " a person who believes himself indispensible to a group, esp. a person who becomes so over-involved in a group’s internal management, policies, or politics as to lose sight of its larger goals; (hence) a person with a negative, moralizing character, who acts like the sole source of wisdom." Now GO FISHING BUSTER and come back with a new attitude OR I will sick THE 2007 CANADIAN NATIONAL BLACKBELT TAEKWONDO CHAMPION(9 YR OLDS) on your tail to give you a new attitude. Happy fishing, eh -
Thanks for the tip JWL and Greencoachdog

I tried fishing for bass on the Maitland last weekend to no avail... the river was full of grass and I did not have access to the private marina. So, i headed down to "the muddy Bayfield River" and got a few small bass and this catfish (23 inch and about 6-8 lbs). All on a worm floating about 10' below the surface. I had no idea these cats could scrap like a dog either>>> Just might try it again. lol Splashhopper

when the trout season opened this past spring, I caught four rainbows with other hooks still in their mouths. I was able to remove most of the hooks on three of the fish before i let them go.( all had some line attached to them) These hooks were all in the #10-#12 size so I am assuming there were from roe bags and those bows are gonna eat the roe that is presentred to em i would think. Howevere, on a little "honey hole" i go to, it doesn't matter what we throw at em. If those bows can see us, they ain't biting nuttin.

does dave actually respond to any of these, or is this his press agent doing some "Guerrilla marketing"? We shall see.

I even drove up to PT Albert for a "look see" off the highway, and then i also "saw" the NO Trespassing signs. Do those signs mean we cannot walk PAST those signs but but still have acceess before them?
-
nope, but that car was big enough that you could sit in the "no spliff section" if ya wanted and still be able to breathe! In those days, i used to drive those back roads with my girl and look for the spot to "enjoy the view." Ohhh to be 17 again. lol
