So, for the past two weekends I have been driving up to my trailer in Bayfield to do some fishing on the Bayfield and Maitland rivers. On both weekends the rivers have been swollen and almost unfishable from shore. Next to NO FISH for me on either weekends too... waahhhh So, instead of driving home all depressed and such, I drove many gravel roads scouting the Maitland and Nine Mile rivers for some good looking entry spots for the fall salmon and trout runs. ( and i marked them on my handy little PAPER map too so i wouldn't forget them ! lol) I posted this today as I remembered someone pointing a link for Real Time Hydrometric tables and i found it hard to use the search button here to find the exact posting. I hope the title of this post will make it easier to find this link for others when they want it. I checked the two rivers I like fishing and they are both down a half meter from last weekend! yippeee.... Here is the link for anyone that is interested in finding out river levels BEFORE you drive a few hours out >>> http://scitech.pyr.ec.gc.ca/waterweb/hydroPortfolio.asp I hope this helps others too. Have a fun and safe Long weekend. Splashhopper and Botbot

"What time of the morning does it start to build and get ugly going thru Toronto. Was figuring on leaving home around 4am which puts me at the airport around 6am - is this a good time or should I leave a little earlier? I don't really feel like heading up the 407 either, would rather leave a little earlier and just stay on the 401." ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// If you miss this start off time.......USE THE 407 and save the grief. It only cost me about $12-$15.00 to get from the Airport to the last exit on the 407 East. How much is your SANITY worth when heading out for a weekend of fishing ? I bet you would paid at least that to get your loved ones off your back in Toronto traffic ! LOL

1: "Like Glen said... buy it for safety and what it's intended for..." i am just wondering where either of you guys got the impression my father and mother bought that Windstar to tow anything? "Like Glen said... buy it for safety and what it's intended for..." They are retirees and bought it to tour Canada and the upper US in their golden years. 2: " but that's ok, lets support offshore sourcing, and drive our economy into crisis" ummm... do u watch a TV? Type on a computer? Listen to a radio? Wear any "brand name" clothes? Ride in a boat powered by some kind of motor? Put any fuel in any of your vehicles? Eat anything with sugar in it? 3: "I will not comment on the organized labor remark... " you just did.

I agree GCD.. my father should have bought a US Army Striker( built right here in my town bTW) for all his "off road" duty on our city streets. Maybe he wouldn't have had the tranny and head gaskets go like the other half million buyers of those vehicles did too. Yeah, my dad, the 75 yr old Air Force vet sure made a bad decison support North American built Vans could then >> " be squeeling like a pig about how that maker/brand is such a piece of crap... when in fact it was all due to your own idiocy!!! " Too. I bought that van off him to relieve he and my mother of the money pit it had become in their retirement. But oh, yeah, I forgot, the "drivetrain" in that Windstar was built to fail so it could be paid for again and again and again to support the guys retirement who built them. I guess my dad got sucked in like the other half million users did too believing all the union hype about buying north american built autos. i think iwill do the same, and buy ANOTHER HONDA built an 90 minutes away from where I live in North America. Yep... keep on buying these particular makes and they go to crap in a handbasket right at warranty time.. Example in my purchases: My 2001 Dodge Dakota: Tranny slipped.. rebuild.. no warranty alternator went power steering went front end shot at 100k water pump dropped out my Dad's 199 Windstar head gaskets blow-- total rebuild to top of motor tranny slips .. rebuild electrical proba up the yin yang I share this story because i needed these vehicles for the kind of work that i do. I have been buying Honda's since 1988 and have NEVER had a single major component go on one of them. The usuall brakes and consumabbles( tires / exhausts / oil etc) due to the high mileage i put on vehicles, but not one major component! and yeah i know what all the union CAW guys are gonna cry.. Well let me be the first to say... build a car/van/pickup that can stands up to the demands of 30-60 k a year and not need major "warranty" work within three years and i will give another new one a try again. As for now,, i hedge my bets for my business needs and bought another USED Caravan from my mechanic that already has the tranny rebuilt and motor done.( it was his wifes vehicle since new amd they are friends of mine) I bought it used since the North American auto manufacturers are building throw away b\vehicles and expecting "keeper" clients. Yep, they kept me for my work horses, but they are not getting the profits of a new vehicle sale from me again. I will post another link to a site about auto beefs ! -

"First of all, hello, I am Wullie and I am from central Scotland. I am visiting my cousin and her family in Markham the last 2 weeks in september. I am looking for info and perhaps company for a day or so to do some river fly fishing for trout while I am over. Tackle, flies needed etc as I am not sure what I will be bringing and what I may buy locally." Trout season is over for now,, BUT there a few CARP fishermen in the Toronto(Markham) area on this board that might be able to help you out. have a nice vacation eh. Splashhopper
