BC Sturgeon fishing with Moosebunk- wimps perspective
Moosebunk replied to scuro's topic in General Discussion
Very nice start Chris. I'm missing the fish and food already. Bull Trout, not to be confused with Bullheads. Your sockeye and Bulls were the best catches on the Pitt for sure. The hotstick man. -
Thanks for posting Terry, I think ya did alright. And man, it could have been worse if that man eating weasel had of gnawed yer nose off or something. Hehehe
-
Super report dude. The only carp I ever caught came from the same area. Great fishing for you and your pops.
-
Excellent Marty. What a great bunch of fish and good times.

I know all too well the heartaches of fishing for auroras. Be prepared for the surprise closures and "MNR. NO FISHING" signs posted on the final tree beside the lake.

N/E Ont. Back Lake Adventure (tons of pic's)
Moosebunk replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
Mike, ya got your own little piece of paradise up there man. Get's me aching to sit in that big steel tub catch some pike, then hoof it back to the cabin for pops and eyes. lol. Next time your up that road take some wood and make a wee bridge. Super report. -
You can see a number of pictures of pike that size, along with the name of this angler and more pictures of that fish in the past winter issue of Esox Angler. And yeah, it was caught in Holland. I've heard it's from Rainy Lake... LOTW... Winnipeg area... and now even Toronto Harbour. Pfffft. My nieghbour just down the street even tried to pass it off as one of his "cousins friends" fish. It grows tiresome, but I guess we should all get used to it, cause with internet the next big catch from anywhere across the globe might as well be the biggun from your local pond.

Only bit of success I can remember a buddy of mine who regularily fishes that lake had, was to back troll worm harnesses off and around points. Slow on bottom in and around 10 feet... that was for summer I think. The lakes are an evening bite. Agreed too, for ice fishing I'd say the back lakes are better. Maybe same in summer.

Did a couple shifts on the Urology floor at the Ottawa Civic back in my early career days. Hydromorphone (potent Morphine) was used to it's max for many of the acute renal colic cases. Those stones are truly any persons worst enemy. Some women say it's 10 times worse than natural child birth. Men will never know any worse pain other than possibly that of severe burns, being eaten alive by army ants, tortured by aliens or stung by killerbees yet kept alive to make it last as long as a kidney stone can last. Glad it's out for ya. Now incinerate the thing. -
When I travel to a spot in mind only to find a gill net. Gillnets unattended too and with rotting fish. The donkeyes that leave their boats anchored out right in the middle of our boat launch. Kids who build sandcastles inside my outboard. Hitting rocks or deadheads at full out. Wind. Wind. And wind. Especially a northwind against an outgoing tide, or a southwind against an incoming tide. Or any wind when I'm fishing up here. Liars. Guys who will look you in the face and say the walleye in their hand is 12lbs when it's a 6. Or guys who will say they caught 72 inch pike then had to shoot it dead. People who keep sturgeon to eat or sell. A leak in the waders. Especially the one I had in the crotch of my neoprenes. Garbage. Signs that say pick-up your garbage that were posted by the same people that left their garbage. Ice fishing with status Indians. Their infinite number of lines to my two. The catch and possession limit on walleye in Division 25. Seems the land of walleye but no people allows less for consumption than the river flowing through the Nations Capital. Taxiboat prices. Gas prices here in the north. $1.52 to 2.59 per litre. People who whine about gas prices in the south. Snaggers. Fisherpeople who harvest during a spawn. Seals hanging out where I'm trying to fish. Even worse, the ones that are bold enough to chase the fish on my line. Not being able to get a good pic of a beluga. Drives me nuts how fast they are. White blowholing devils is they. Ospreys that scream at ya for hours while yer fishing. Cold fronts, especially flash freezing. Freezing rain too. Getting skunked. But worse, losing big fish. Upriver dams being opened and the river getting blown out. The Weather Network being totally wrong on the days forecast. Hooking my woman in the head with a Rapala. A shorelunch without walleye, or any fish. Soooooo, why do I fish??? For the next chance to just get out, a challenge, and total happiness when finding the one I've been after.

When home from work it's Moosehead time, and if quite sunny and hot then a Corona with lime. A Molson over Labbatt's is pretty much a crime, yet if it's a pint at the bar then whatever saves a dime.

OK for smallies. Right off the HWY I once accessed with my float tube for a couple hours. A guy I knew had once said to fish around the island right in front of that access and if the smallies were hanging around they would be right on. Fishing was OK. Lots of choices in the vicinity of Net Lake for a variety of species.

That certainly has crossed my mind Mike. Hard to resist the tastiness of trout around the 9-12 inch mark. They're the best by a long shot. None kept this year.
-
Superb Doug. No better way to put it. Great fishery and outfit by the looks of it. Thanks for that report.
-
Hey Old Feller. Be careful out there. Break a hip and that could be the end of ya. j/k. Great report Mike. Your personal paradise with the family. Perfect.

Quite enjoyable 15 minutes TJ. Man!! You two have fun out there.

Great report. Thanks

I had dace last 6 weeks in the fridge and they were still going strong when I used them. Put 3 dozen in one of the bags most baitshops use, they were packed on O2, and only 1 in 12 dozen went belly up. Again, keep on O2 and keep cold. Otherwise, in a cooler with cold water and add some fresh water from the lake daily.

Sucks to be you Matt. A Sens fan and member of the 50" club. Pfffft. j/k. lol.
