  1. Mike... you're killing me. I'll get you for these reports... you just wait. lol
  2. Ahhhh Mike, I won't slay 'em for the photo. At some point in the near future I have to head up and fish somewhere on the Albany, maybe with them. All part of my quest to fish every main vein feeding the western Bay. Can't leave it too long though, cause after that we have to drive up the northern HWY and do every river on the east. Harricanaw is going to be the tough one if not able to get there this summer. Kapiscau too.
  3. I caught that tooo Roy, but geeeeeeez Louise, I thought I was being nit picky enough... j/k I gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought it either read bad or was defendable as a typo or something. If not, shame on them. haha Seeing harvest and a mindset like that drives me a little off, especially when it comes to a fish that only spawns like every 4-8 years, and would take at least 40 I'd bet to reach those sizes..... Sheeesh, it's not like they're an easily sustainble fish like muskie. (hehe - low blow and j/k)
  4. The province could likely make more money off a "spring politician hunt" rather than some dirty nuisance black bears. The culling would be of greater good for the resource too.
  5. Whenever I googled sturgeon the site comes up for twin lakes... For the sake of being a little nit picky this is what bothers me... they quote... "In Ontario, the most common and maybe the only species of Sturgeon left is the White Sturgeon, which is also called the River Sturgeon. They are extinct or extremely rare in Southern & Central Ontario. The last big and healthy populations of Sturgeon are found in the far north of Ontario in the rivers that run into Hudson Bay and James Bay. Two of the most famous rivers for Sturgeon are the Albany River and the Ogoki River." There's no white sturgeon in Ontario. They are lake sturgeon the ones they are referring to. Secondly, they mention how the Ogoki River area has some of the best sturgeon fishing in Ontario, and that much of the provinces stocks have dwindled to nothinng... I won't dispute it, but finding pics like this and advertising their great taste won't do much for Ogoki's fishery either. Just my 2 cents.
  6. I'd only hope I catch the second biggest muskie. Then no one would give a crap. When the day comes (and it will) and that world record is in my net... I'll make the call. If I keep it, I have a career that can take me anywhere... even Tuktoyaktuk or Peru... that way I can leave the muskie world behind and forever just keep posting from time to time at OFC with a pic of me and my big fish in the avatar. Muhahahahahaha jealous freaks. Muhahahahahaha.
  7. Way to finish the season dood. Good on ya. Good luck next year.
  8. OK, I got the GPS co-ords locked right in. Will leave work now and should be there in about 2-3 days.... wait up next time you go play hooky.
  9. OK, so you caught a few walleye... whatever. lol/jk Good fishing Cliff and Bly. WTG
  10. Many, many nooks and crannies all over all parts of the province. You sure stuck your head and dipped your line into a few of them. Great recap of your years over here and thanks a tonne for sharing them. I thoroughly enjoyed this report for what it was for you and even more so, for the kind of inspiration it could evoke in future newcomers to fishing. Great job. Good luck back home.
  11. Who get's up at 5am anyways. And I can't believe you're pushing 50 old feller. Fished a couple days last year around -30. Not worth it Dan, I agree. About the coldest I'd go tolerate is around 25 below... but even that's not all that enjoyable unless you're into fish one after another to stay warm. Don't much like huts. Do you get out at all come March when some days get into the plus??? Those days -10C and warmer are the absolute best.
  12. Yeah, but did you see what Papa can do. http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_p...ear_attack2.htm
  13. Berkely Fireline Crystal - garbage. Abu Cardinal Spinning Reel - garbage. Ultralight Quantum PT Spinning Reel - great. G-Loomis Frontier M-H Spinning Rod - great. Shimano Clarus Ultralight Spinning Rod - great. 15HP Honda Outboard - great.
  14. My mistake Sir Ricky... smoking is good. Yes the pros far outweigh the cons. Allow me to behead myself while you blow purple bong haze to your little one in the backseat and pass him the hooch on green lights. How the educated world ever bought into the science that smoking is bad for the smoker and second hand smoke is bad for anyone else is beyond me; beyond sooo many. I guess this means all gas sniffers and coke shooters who like to "share" second hand junk must be in the clear too, because afterall they could be local business people who work hard, put money into the local economy and socialize their "own" way. And thank God for the tobacco plant while we're at it. Cause without the "Ohhhhh Soooo Carcinogenic Nic-Addictive One" the poor farmer might have to farm something else, the poor convenience store clerk may have to sell something else, and addicts wouldn't have smoker pride nor a group to call their own on the 9, 10, 11, lunch, 1, 2, 2:30, 3:00, 3:20, 3:40, 4:00, 4:15, 4:25, 4:34, 4:40, 4:44, 4:47, 4:50, 4:52, 4:54, 4:55, 4:56, 4:57, 4:58, 4:59 and 4:59:30 "scheduled" smoker work breaks on "their" perfect 9 to 5. Heck, John Player, Joe Camel and that Marlboro Man dood may just have to step down as the filthy rich presidents of the smokers club and open up a tofu and falafel joint. If you want to get technical Ricky and sort of back to the topic at hand, smoking laws aren't really about the smoker anyway... they are about the rights of the non-smoker. The smoker shouldn't even count every time... Especially in a case where kids cannot speak for themselves and so someone wisely takes the initiative to say it for them. "Most" smokers are young "impressioned" smokers first, and they're smokers for no single good reason whatsoever. I can't honestly think of one good reason to tell someone why they should take up an addictive habit like smoking, especially a kid. For the smoker, it may suck being on the losing end in todays society, but ask yourself, what are you really giving up anyway??? If you managed to quit, or in the very least control, what could you be gaining??? I used to defend my right to smoke too, but that was back when I was an addict. Today I rarely preach non smoking at all, at work to my patients nor to my smoking friends. But, a stage is set here at OFC, why not speak about it. Strangely, I don't even really care but it's fun to pick sides and then debate. Get's you so juiced just thinking and talking about it that you almost need a smoke when you're done.
  15. Except that the right to eat is a human necessity for sustaining life, and therefor killing animals for food and nutrition through many different practices will always remain a constant, even if and when there are certain societal opinions involved. Smoking, the way we are talking about it; unlike eating, does not benefit a soul... in fact it worsens society. Again, a "bottom line" thought.
  16. Second hand can surely be enjoyable for a non-smoker on some occassions. Wish I could still enjoy the odd smoke, but that's a can of worms I'd never want to risk opening again. Remember trips from Perth to the ski hills in the Gatineau in my folks Nova or Bonneville. Both of them smoking back in the the early 80's when I was a young feller. The air in the car with the windows up was gagging and would turn me green. House always full of smoke from dinner afterwards as well. It was sickening I remember thinking..... Well, they made a smoker out of me and an asthmatic out of my brother some years down the road. Don't know which was worse for who but my bro is the athlete. I remember before 2003 when I quit how I hated all the new planned laws against, and peoples changing attitudes. The nasty looks in restaurants especially. Today though I can agree with alot of it, being in healthcare and all. It's "those peoples" attitudes over the years that have helped butt this unnecessary habit, out. Smokers agreeing with this or not the bottom line is they help kill you and others. Choose to smoke maybe you should choose to pay for someone elses healthcare bills and forefeit your own universal coverage that the majority non-smokers pay for.... this way the smoker will still have his freedom of choice, but not at the same price as the non-smokers freedom for clean air, quality of life... an ultimately choice as well.
  17. Woweee Zoweee you're my Steelheader Jethro Tull Steel Monkey. I can't believe that pathetic collection of rainbows. I mean, c'mon... learn to fish man. Why is it everytime you wet a line Mr. SuperSoloPaddler that you have to pass off 20 pics of the same fish your buddy obviously caught for you. Do you and your little steelheading wizard friends; and that hobbit CCM, only fish at fish farms? I'm looking soooooooooooooo forward to your next big false report there Solo-Izumi wannabe. Borat says NOT!
  18. Thanks for the report Joey. Couple nice skis there. You go girl. lol.
  19. Feeling left out Rich. j/k Allright, I'm done. Was just all for fun and fun for all.
  20. Did you miss all the other important things you should do first Rich. First "wit" (go to school, read, get yer thinkings all in order and stuff) Second, Workout (you know... exercise, get healthy... for you that means 6 less Simswiches a day and only half a case of Wildcat) if and when all your joints are lined up in order, your floaters are all aligned and the rabbit ears on your B&W are getting your favorite TV show "Size Small" on the UHF well.... then grease, grease, grease... pause, see if they swing, then pounce and beat. OK, first try being polite, then do everything I said. Together we'll win the war on fishing terrorism.
  21. Well while you're "getting some" then loverboy... I'll be mad fishing alone, but catching fish. lol.
  22. Doooooood, this fall has been the most uncanny fall I can remember. I can't even count how many pike I have eye-ball hooked. It's sick. 2007 will go down as the year that the pike went koo-koo and tried eating with their pupils instead of their mouths.
  23. TANK!!!! I had a buddy come up here last year for a visit and after 6 hours he broke my PB pike. Was I bitter...? Damn right, most of the day. But was I happy for him too, for absolutely sure I was. That's what it's all about man. Fishing with friends and enjoying every minute of it. Having happiness in yours and your friends success.
  24. That's not the only answer. Do as my buddy Float does and bark at 'em, throw 'em in the river, cut their lines and threaten to call the MNR if they're doing anything like snaggin'. My first experience on the Ganny in the "Biway hole" 3 dirt munching greasy bizitches were weighted rig treble hooking and snagging shlamo's amongst a handful of float fishers and me fly fishing. Kev gave them one warning on a foul hooked fish they were playing while I was working a legal fish on the fly. They had no control on the fish and didn't listen to Kev so he cut their line, then threatened to call the MNR or snap their rod if they did it again. He was instantly me hero. Here's a thought... in the off season spend it lifting weights everyday. Then the next time someone get's too close move right into him. I mean right into him so you're pretty much on him. If he moves, move with him. If he casts, stand right in front of his rod and him... like 6 inches from his body not touching him. Grease him like he's never been greased before. Maybe he'll take a swing so be ready to dodge that then rip him apart. The days of manners are fast slipping by. Boaters are in your boat if they see you catch a fish, and shore anglers are on your shoes if you're in a spot first and catching fish. It's a big fishing planet but it's being over run with impolite weekend warriors that gotta get theirs, get it quick, and those be damned who step in the way. No MNR to help people need to arm themselves with wit, bigger muscles.
  25. PIG Fish. WTG. GPS co-ord's anyone??? lol.
