The season opener for the kawarthas is the 2nd Saturday in may. Last year from what I can remember it was fairly warm? Not sure about water temps however. Was looking at some pics from my trip from opener last year and I was in shorts and tee.

Pretty sure there is a sign on the 407 that says out of province plates will be billed however not sure how it would work for people from the U.S. The cost is just under $30. I take it home everyday from work. But like stated before if your leaving early you would be fine taking Qew to 427.

I also found a pre-fab live well on the cabbalas site unfortunately it won't work for my boat. Yes, that's kinda the same idea I'm looking for. Just a drop in. Do you have a pump and aerator as well? Ya i understand and no tournaments in the forseeable future, but not ruling it out. I currently use stringers now, but looking for an upgrade because I'm probably going to have this boat for a while.

Hey guys, As a spring project I'd like to potentially put a live well in my boat. I have heard/read good things and bad about putting one in and removing some of the flotation foam. I have thought about getting one of the cooler live wells but it would take up to much room in the boat. Just looking for some more input on the subject or if anyone has any experience doing this. I have an aluminum 16' Crestliner Sportsman, with three benches. I would like to put it in the bench in front of the driver seat. The length of the bench where the live well would sit is roughly 60" however the live well itself would be about 36". I can post pics of the boat and what my idea is if they would be any help. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with you on the solid deal. If it were me I would buy it. It is a good navigation tool to have when fishing new water or even familiar lakes for that matter. Bills bait would more than likely sell them, if not fishing world does for sure.
-
Not really worth it in my option. I wasted $5 on it lol. I thought it was going to be more than it was. If you're looking for lakes with specific species then maybe, however a quick google search would tell you the same info. Just my .2.

Looks like some good eats right there!

That's a good deal. If you troll, you'll like the si option it helps locating school of bait. You got a good bank for your buck in my opinion. Was the navionics card included with that price?

Belle River Yaht Club is a nice place. Been there a couple times. Right on the river with a launch and parking. About a half hour drive to Windsor if you're looking for a place to party. -
I too have had bad experiences with bell in regards with the billing. They only offer you incentives to sign up and once the incentive program runs out they hit you with all these charges they neglect to tell you about in the beginning. They raised my rateswithout even notifying me. Even with phone/internet/tv package I still pay around the 250, which is more then I payed when I was with them when I had a satellite. Switch to fibe they told me will be cheaper, cheaper my but. And when you call customer service they give you the same song and dance over and over. In the process now ironing things out with cogeco to get a better monthly rate. Was speaking with someone at work last week about this and he says he just switches between companies when his incentives run out. Sorry about the rant, just thinking about speaking to their customer service fires me up.

Cancer is a terrible disease. I've lost a couple family members because of it. Stay strong and you will make it through the journey. I second the comment about being mentally focused on getting better, I believe this is key. F Cancer

Happened only once last season. As far as the spoons/spinners are concerned I would say you would be fine using the leader. Yes you put the mono before the braid as a backer, so the line doesn't slip. If you goto a tackle shop and have them put the line on they should do it all for you. Or you could do as mentioned before and use a piece of electrical tape if you don't want to use the backer.
-
You think I could get away with even 20 pound flouro for a leader? If I did 20/20 or 20/30? If the 30 doesn't effect the jerkbaits actions. These would work with 2500 reel? And thanks drifter for sharing the video! I think so, 20 is what I use majority of the time. 30 on the rare occasion. But that's what my bro uses, he says he likes it better. We both use what works best for us. As far as affecting the action of a jerkbait, I haven't noticed any but I could be wrong. And yes both work great, me and my brother both have 2500 size shimano spinning reels.

20-30 lb braid and a 20-30 lb fluorocarbon leader is my first choice as well. You could even go get more line if you used the max quattro stuff. I haven't had any bite offs (knock on wood) and I've been using straight braid to flourocarbon for a couple seasons. So far so good. X2 on the knot, used it all last season, it's great! Took a couple tries, and loosing a couple lures because i didn't tie it properly lol, but its a beauty.

Agreed.

Yes, the weed beds were more sparse then the previous years. Some fish were still there, not as many and they were up tight to the shore. In some cases almost a foot or less. Some of the other spots were the same, more sparse but no fish. We did try that on the smallie spots, drove around with the down and side image on and couldn't locate any. Even tried the adjacent bay right next to the spot which had only some pike and a few small dinks. Also tried coming back at different times if the day. Same result.

When I was there in the end of June, the visual marks I use to know where to position the boat where submerged under water. When they are usually not..

Hey fellas, Was hoping you all could shed some light on what's going on here. So over the course of this past season, I've noticed that a few of my decent spots have "dried" up so to speak. Total of 4 spots. All spots produced fish regularly (For the previous 3 years) and some tanks here and there, until this past year. It was like night and day difference. I was able to still catch some there but wasn't like before, had to grind for them and they weren't anything of size. 3 of 4 where bass spots (2 smallie/ 1 largie) and the other was walleye. Has anyone else had something the same/similar happen to them where they fish? I did some research but couldn't really find a definitive answer. The only thing that I was able to gather was the absence of bait fish and that the water was higher this year there. The spots are in the Pointe Au Baril area of Georgian Bay. (If that makes any difference)

C3 Was my first musky reel. Upgraded after one season though. Great starting combo and the price sounds good!

Someone posted this link in the Musky Trader Canada fb page. Some pics of the new Tranx models. Price is in American dollars. http://shop.chase-outdoors.com/catalog.php?category=109347

I've heard talk about Shimano coming out in 2017 with a left hand series tranx in 300 and 400 size? Has anyone heard this?
-
My brother picked one up yesterday from fishing world. Buddy at the store said it's meant to replace the symmetry series of reel.

x3 on the Symetre. Good bang for you buck!
