Well done Mike! I wish we could have enjoyed a beverage together - maybe next time! After you went in we went out a little deeper and had some luck. -Brian

Niagara Reigon Bass/Walleye - How To-
SlowPoke replied to Cast Adventures's topic in General Discussion
Great pic's and information. -Brian -
I cut the foil leaving an inch all the way around and try to avoid tipping the bucket. Leaving an inch will prevent it from spilling over with the lid off in the boat. I think it's a poorly designed system and would rather see a taller/narrower design that would fit in a cupholder. The baits float so it wouldn't be like trying to get the last pickle out of a jar. -Brian

I purchased an all-in-one because it was the best unit I could find in my price range. I bought a Lowrance LMS-525-dumb ass. I had considered upping my price range for a two unit setup but I just couldn't justify it. I'm very happy with it and one of the perks I hadn't considered was advantage of having everything in one place. When I troll I sit sideways facing the port side of my center console. The screen is on the port side of the console itself. Had I purchased two units I would have to look over my right shoulder at the other screen on the right side of the console. I'm never far enough away from the 5" screen (even when fighting a fish) that I can't see the details... even the volts reading which I have on small text. If I had a larger boat I would certainly benefit the larger screens but this one works very well for me. I like the split screen and typically run 75% Map/25% Sonar and get all the information I need. If I want to review structure that crawled off the screen I simply hit Pages/Sonar/Enter and I have full sonar screen. It takes less then a second and the information is still crawling across the screen. Eventually I will be upgrading the boat and I just can't see parting with the 525. It would make for a sweet bow mount unit interfaced with the NMEA system. The would allow me to re-use the dumb ass transducer on a new, larger head unit for the dash and tie both GPS systems together on the same puck. Add a universal sonar bow-mount trolling motor and I'm good to go. All I have to buy is the new head unit, no 'ducer and no new puck... that'll save me $300. If money was not an issue, I would two all-in-one units on the dash... split screen on one or the other, full screens on both... what am I thinking... probably go split screen with sonar/gps on one and RADAR on the other!!! Time to wake up now and go to work. -Brian

Bert's sells a transducer mounting board... http://www.teclausa.com/bert/products/MF32...ducer-board.jpg Screw or glue it to your transom and mount the transducer to it. I would mount the corners flush with the bottom of your boat and file out any contour that will disturb water flow. Then fill the seam between the hull and tansom for a smooth transition. Use 3M 5200 marine epoxy for filling and gluing. http://www3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/auto_m...ler/output_html

Planning a Alberta/BC RV trip with kids.

Stan, if you want a shorter trip and all Canadian, take your family to the east coast! -Brian -
Sounds like a great deal Mike!

Great fish Shawn, that bow is a brute! -Brian

Good advice Randy but I'm limited to the low-profile style. I'd be happy to pay $200 for a system that would never fail but I'm limited by the style. Mike, I'm afraid that if I "goo'd" the boat I really want I would be kicked out of the dealership and could possible face obscenity charges. Dealers in Quebec must be more lenient about that stuff. I'm re-thinking the Lund route, I have my eye on something else! Thanks Emil, I forgot about them... if you read this, PM me the link or I'll give you a call about that. Pete, as I said to Mike I am off the Lund kick. The one I have in mind would be really hard to fall out of but the downside is they are also tough to puke out of. Bring a step ladder when you come aboard! Thanks everyone for the comments! -Brian

You guys are all full of crap, it's the greedy oil companies that lobbied for one rod limits. We have to run the boat twice as long to bag our families limit. -Brian

So, I have a broken right taillight lens (and a bent fender) from some kind soul at Lakair and now my left brake/signal is out. Time for a new light kit. Has anybody used the low-profile LED lights from Princess Auto? PA is hit and miss for quality and they have a great return policy but I don't want to install them to find out they're crap. Any other sources or recommendations for Low-Profile LED Lights? -Brian

Ain't that the truth! Well done Sherriff. -Brian

Well done Emil and good info as always! I considered heading to Lake O for today but the forecast didn't look favourable... ended up on LSC in a stiffling haze and getting eaten alive by those pesky ankle biten' flies! -Brian

Planning a Alberta/BC RV trip with kids.
SlowPoke replied to wuchikubo's topic in General Discussion
As others have suggested, you really should add at least another week to the trip. Just the "can't miss" attractions in British Columbia alone could eat up a week... esp. if you intend on hitting Victoria. One of the things I hate most about the drive through Canada is being in Ontario for "three sleeps". This could put a real drag on the trip once your kids wake up for the third time and say "Are we still in Ontario?". If you MUST do the Canada side, do it on the way home. You won't miss much bypassing Ontario-Saskatchawan but I think it would be worth the extra driving to go through Alberta into BC. as this map shows. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&....107422&z=4 -
PM "Big Cliff" and see if he's interested in doing it for you.

Nice report Mike! Ya know, it's okay for the Captain to catch a few as well. Try putting a line in the water! -Brian -
Well done Bly! Thanks for the report Cliff. -Brian

I usually leave the kicker motor at home for a one hour portage. Looks like Terry guided you into some nice action -Brian

I don't think it is from the Excursion platform. Likely a cab & chassis - light truck configuration. Kinda takes the shine off... "and this a picture of our limo, we got the entire wedding party in there... It's a stretched dump truck!"

I thought we all forgot about it until Steven Spielberg's audio effects department called to inquire about recording the sound of split shot sinkers in my bilge pump. As it turns out, it sounds remarkably like marbles in a blender. Just kidding... bilge is fine but I'll always be looking for creative ways to remind you about it!! -Brian

These aren't the speedy responses I was anticipating... but sure! Let's just say that ccmt can not be trusted with a tray of terminal tackle.

I left a couple Super Shads alone in a candle lit room with a Barry White CD playing. I think you're on the right track with the corn.
