Towing your boat with a smaller vehicle.

Hey Cliff, If it tows fine to the k-lakes then you should be fine going to Lakair. I wouldn't add an aftermarket cooler. As for overdrive, I find it's okay to use provided the transmission isn't making any more shifts than it normally would. You probably already have a feel for what it is likely to do. If you're approaching or decending a steep hill, take it out of overdrive for a lower gear ratio... more power to the wheels going up & more engine braking coming down. If you find the transmission wants to shift out of overdrive on a flat surface (wind/slight inclines) then you are best off leaving it out of overdrive. -Brian -
Maple Leaf's New Coach is ..............
SlowPoke replied to carp-starter's topic in General Discussion
And I thought this was going to be a multiple choice question. Maple Leaf's New Coach is .............. A - Doomed for failure B - A knee-jerk reaction to mounting fan and media pressure C - The best selection from a bag of average coaches available D - All of the above -
~~A few things GreencoachDawg, and I have in common

If you're wearing a bra I'd say that's something you and Glen DON'T have in common. But, if it makes you happy... -
Many LCD readouts are difficult to read with polarized lenses but if you tilt your head or adjust your view angle you may be able to see it without taking the glasses off. My Lowrance is viewable though polarized lenses thankfully - a feature I didn't even consider when purchasing. -Brian

And how would that cause the motor trim function to fail?

the Fish'n chip would be pretty useless in Canada. You might be confusing this with the Hotmaps chip. -Brian

Don't waste your time converting a runabout (closed bow) into something with a casting deck. The "hood" is part of the structure. Cutting this out would weaken the boat and it could fold at the windshield. Not to mention, it will look like hell. There are good deals to be had on older fiberglass bowriders. They usually require a lot of work but with some time and money can be converted much easier than a runabout. -Brian

Hey Chris, as luck would have it we might be passing BPS on the 22nd around 2PM on the way home from Lakair...hmmmm

I'm betting on the "Meatball Marinara" pattern! Congrat's Dave, it looks like another great year is in the cards for ya! -Brian

Welcome back Alex! Cliff, Sounds like you had a nice day! -Brian -
Great report! $1500???? You can't even moor a boat in Ontario for the season for that money! It might be worth looking into to see if it's the same as the one from the store billboard.

It sounds like a bad connection causing an intermittent problem. -was the main motor charging the battery during the "ran it hard for an hour" part? -does your key have to be on for the trim switch to work? If so, it may be a bad key switch. -possible bad stator depending on the high RPM cut-in for charging - I think it would be lower than 4000 RPM and probably wouldn't cause the trim to fail. -try tracing the power wire from the trim solenoid back to the source of power looking for bad connections or deteriorated wiring. ... or it could be the banana. -Brian

John, It's too bad you don't go fishing because you can write a helluva great report. -Brian

"Three of us headed out.... about 9AM" "we ended up with 7 muskies" Now THAT is how fishing should be! Well done SMB! -Brian
