I think he meant to say Salty S-10, in which case, he's good to go. -Brian

NF-ish: looking for a gently used tow vehicle in GTA

That's the one... thanks, I can scratch that off the to-do list for tonight. I can't vouch for them as a dealer but they certainly have an attractive inventory and great prices. -Brian -

Hi Adrianne, Importing an SUV right now probably isn't cost effective... Canadian dollar is on the slide, travel expenses and deep discounts on SUV's locally mean that you would probably break even buying locally. I spotted a 2003 Yukon for $7888 at a dealer north of Toronto a month or so ago in an ad. We were going to drop in and look at it but Wonderland and a trip to Simcoe got in the way. This was a high mileage vehicle but I wouldn't worry much about mileage on a Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban, especially as a third vehicle. Your biggest concern is body/accidents and evidence of proper maintenance. I'll get the name of that dealer for you tonight when I'm back in Toronto - they specialize in SUV's, move a lot of inventory and are significantly cheaper than all the dealers local to me in London. -Brian -
I'm sure TJ's erection has impacted many lives.

Wow, it's nicer than the one on the GOSD website! That's pretty cool - you got one hit today and still came home with a boat! Enjoy Dan, you deserve it! -Brian

Lures vary a little from one manufacturer to another but an MJ is usually black & white... ... not even close to what we were using.

No problemo, sometimes I get my merds wixed up too!

I'm not familier with the bracket or your boat but... is it possible that your mounting on an uneven surface and when you bolted down the bracket, it conformed to the surface and mis-aligned the holes? I know my bow cover(?) is slightly curved and a flat bracket would not sit flush to the mounting surface. -Brian

$47 for 1000 feet, not yards. Wire is not immune to fleas but certainly better than braid. This is one of the reasons I set up a wire rod... I didn't want to run flea-flicker for a dipsy setup.
-
I'd be inclined to think the crimp failed. It would require a lot of damage to the wire for it to break. You don't need a leader for what you're doing, try tying direct to a good snap/swivel or use a split ring between the leftover swivel and your spoon.

I always have a great time fishing with ya's and look forward to our next trip. Oh, and thanks for the red blanket - you're welcome to use it when you come to LSC with me! -Brian

Nice outing considering how slow the fishing was today! I don't think I'd bother with Jet Divers, you can accomplish the same thing with a Dipsy as you can with a Jet but a Jet can't do what a Dipsy can - get out away from the boat and down. I prefer a heavier rod for dipsy's. I use Daiwa Heartland 9'6" Heavy... tons of backbone. Dual purpose for me as I also use them for Muskie trolling. It's also nice that they can be had for $35.00 ea. I prefer braid for dipsy's. Easier to release when lure changing (no stretch) and the dive easier because of the small diameter. Some folks like mono for dipsy's. Your setup is a little light IMO for salmon on the dipsy. My heavy action rods are stressed enough just pulling the dipsy's, having a westbound salmon hitting your eastbound lure might spoil your day. For walleye, you're probably fine. Your S-10 Salty's are fine, just be sure the check the clamps periodically. -Brian

Nautical decor seems dated but on the other hand, it accentuates the vintage of the motorhome.

I'm a Lowrance fan but I'll toss out another arguement... Have you considered the footprint of the two units? The h-bird is a good 2" longer, will you have room on the new console for that? It's a big unit! -Brian

Counting your toes.

I can see a 5 count, even a 10 count but 15?!?!?! Didn't your foot get cold? Nice fish Cliff, sounds like an epic battle! -Brian

I have very few regrets in life but one of them is putting fun ahead of my future. My goal in life was working just hard enough to have a good weekend. I wasted several years looking forward to 'next weekend'. I'm not saying school is the right decision for right now but if you are to put it off, make it meaningful. Take Lew for example. Joining the Navy is not only an adventure but a life experience. Experience, credibility and discipline that can be applied to life after the Navy. Ask yourself if guiding for a year or two can benefit you in your life and career path. Ask yourself if you have the discipline to get back on track after your adventure. -Brian

I'm just hoping to live for 50 years... the thought of my wife putting up with me for 50 years seems unattainable. Congratulations to you both! -Brian

Try PMing iceguy, he uses vimeo, photobucket and youtube for his video posts. He might have a good insight on what you are trying to do. -Brian

Yup, be prepared to replace them when the blades start to look like a crimping tool

Nice fish, worth the trip! It's always nice bumping into someone from the board! -Brian

Tough call Rob... I think if I were dealing in that kind of money/warrenty ($3000-$5000) I would want to deal with a dealer. You might get lucky with kijiji.com with someone upgrading or they could be dumping a problematic motor. I'll keep an eye out for you. -Brian

I bought a pair of mini bolt cutters from Princess Auto for less than $10 on sale and they cut through the shank of 6/0 treble hooks with ease. At that price there is no excuse not to have them. -Brian

I didn't see it in our flyer... London area. May be worth calling the store.

I've used Berkley "Easy-Clip" snap swivels. The strong enough and work as advertised but are useless for "R" bend spinnerbaits and some topwaters like the Skitter Pop. They slide too easy on the "R" Bends and not enough room on the Skitter Pops to hook onto the eye. They're ideal for most inlines and crankbaits. Would I buy them again? Probably not. -Brian
