  1. I asked the same question of a 6 bedroom cottage on Cresent harbour Rd. (Mapleview). My wife's uncle stated that he want's his kids and their families to be able to enjoy it on their own or all together without sacrificing comfort. Fair enough. It also doesn't hurt that its been a safe investment. Okay, I'll give him that. But then again, we're talking a fraction of the value and only $8000/yr in taxes. I'm sure he'd be in the "that's damn rediculous!" camp along with the rest of us regarding that place! Was it the Zellers patio furniture that turned you off? The pool is pretty slick!
  2. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY moves in on TJ's action! Welcome back Sis!
  3. Details? What more info do you need other than whether he likes to fish in the morning or evening? Hehe! We might need to talk as well. I've longed for a set of mooching rods.
  4. Those s.o.b's (south of the borderites) will never cease to amaze me. Good on ya Art; not only did you make Chris' day but we all benefit by your kindness.
  5. Great post Ryan! 'Round here, all the talk is "what am I going to wear?"
  6. Well done Rob! Gimme a shout when you want to head out for aome 'skis!
  7. I thought I heard some hootin' and hollerin' from the north! Well done Jim!
  8. What the heck was the elderly woman doing wearing you wife's housecoat? Good on ya for finding and returning the sailboat and a nice fish too!
  9. Boat control was pivotal, as was the move from fishing in 12 volts of water to fishing in 14 feet of water. Once we found the fish en masse, we were able to coax the stupid ones into biting. In all seriousness; the company met my expectations and the fishing exceeded them, given the conditions. It was nice to escape the rigours (riggers? LOL) of salmon fishing and a break from the muskie slime. I wouldn't have had a better time even in pristine weather conditions. I can't wait to do it again. P.S. I won't say anything about the sunfish either.
  10. Yup!! I'd rather chase the skunk off the boat than away from the garbage cans at home! Carole, your season is just getting warmed up and we're all looking forward to more reports.
  11. Nice report JJ!!
  12. LOL!!! Happy Birthday Paul and congrats on the other thing!
  13. Nicely done Emil
  14. That's happened to me a few times. My automatic response is denial.
  15. Torpedo Diver. Problem solved.
  16. One word; Watergate. But seriously; at that price it had better come with a powerpoint presentation, buffet and a guest speaker. Go for Jim Ralph, he's a riot in person. Have you been in contact with your old Doctor? I wonder if she couldn't do something for you.
  17. I heard E-creek was so hot right now guys are leaving their hooks and line on shore; the salmon come by, tie the knot and set the hook themselves.
  18. Your "9.9" moved us along fine on Sunday!
  19. Baitcaster 90% of the time. For me it offers more control and no hand switching. Until they make a spinning reel with a left handed bail, I'll opt for the baitcaster every time. The only time I use spinning is in heavy wind or ultralite tackle. I'll probably switch my ice rigs over to baitcaster this year as well
  20. Big fish look big without the long arm pose. It's kinda like stuffing a sock in your pants when you go out cruising for chics; what are you trying to compensate for? That's a big fish in any pose and give him 'gratz for the PB!!
  21. This is typical of most if not all electronics. I'll tip my hat to Lowrance for continuity; they've offered solutions to integrate older systems into newer systems. Not in all cases but I like knowing that if I want to upgrade my dash units to HDS, I can still use my LMS units fore and aft with the NMEA bus and ethernet. They just gouge you on connectors! Scugog makes a good point on the built in software. You may not need your old card since the mapping is so good on the newer units. I might just have another peek today for curiousity sake.
  22. I'd buy that arguement if Lowrance was the beneficiary but Navionics is the company that stands to gain the most.
  23. Almost had one back at the ramp. I stepped from the bow onto the winch and a little jump to the back bumper of the truck, cranked the boat up and then a big jump from the bumper to the dock. Big enough to split my shorts and almost didn't make it. Needless to say, the girls made me go inside at Subway with split shorts because their hair was wet.
  24. They look like nice affordable and capable units but WHY CHANGE THE CARD FORMAT? Every other GPS uses SD but now the Elite series is using Micro SD. I thought the Elite series was a nice unit for those that didn't want or need to bend over for and HDS but if they have to replace thier $200 map chip, they might as well go with the more expensive unit. Okay, the obvious answer is weight savings.. probably shaving 1/5th of a gram.
  25. I had planned to hit Lake Ontario with my daughters. There's never a gaurantee to put fish in the boat but lets face it, the odds are better with salmon and trout on Lake O than muskie... anywhere! The forecast was calling for 20K east winds; even the freighters don't like that! I decided at the last minute to go to Lake St. Clair forecasting 15k east winds. I warned the girls "it could be a boring bumpy ride" but they wanted to go anyway. It didn't take long to make our trip worthwhile, the first fish was on the line before the second rod hit the water. I called "fish on, who wants it?" neither of them budged. After a moment of coaxing, Hannah stepped up to the plate and handled her first muskie with ease. A short time later and on the same rod and lure (yes, some of you know which one), Sarah got her chance to land one. This one was a little bigger and required a little more coaching but she managed to get it into the net. Had to cut the hooks on this. That's 4 trebles I've replaced on this lure in two outings. I think I'm going to leave my tackle boxes at home and just bring my favourite lure and a bunch of hooks! The new casting deck got some use The fishing died off after our first hour on the water so the girls decided to have a swim. Water was 81*F. And a choppy ride in We wrapped it up around 8:30 and headed homeward. Stopped in at the new Esso on Bloomfield Rd. in Chatham for a bite to eat and was pleased to find there is a new 24hr Subway!!! This is awesome, can pick one up on the way to the lake in the morning instead the 4:30AM leftover donuts at Tim Hortons.
