  1. Bummer about the FICHT motors. The very same motor that almost put them out of business is the technology that put them back on the map today with e-tec. The early big bore ficht were nightmares but but 99/00 they had the bugs worked out and are pretty good. I still wouldn't touch one with a 10' pole just because of the stigma attached.
  2. LOL Vince, getting a little excited for Saturday?
  3. A big thanks and a plug for DanD (D&S Auto in London) I've dropped in to see Dan with a few small repair jobs in the last couple of months and he's been fast and fair to say the least. I blew the rear end in my Suburban on Friday, brought it to Dan and picked it up today.... whoa! Pretty fast considering it was a holiday long weekend! Instead of messing around with a used rear end from a wrecker I opted for a remanufactured rear end through Dan from the U.S. It shipped complete, ready to install with a 3 year warranty and it was on Dan's doorstep this morning. Cost was not much more than buying a used one nevermind the hassle of finding a good one and replacing worn out parts. In fact, probably cheaper in the long run! Thanks again Dan!
  4. Ughhh... Why would anyone use a Tekota when a Magda will do? Why would anyone use an Optima when a Nautilaus will do? Why would anyone use a St. Croix when an Ugly Stick will do? Because we want to.
  5. That was a good show. The Snakehead invasion segment was a little disturbing however. We're worried about Asian Carp but the these Snakeheads and Giant Snakeheads are big time predetors.
  6. I tend to agree.... unless.... the motor you buy today will be with you for twenty years or become the kicker motor for the next boat you buy. Otherwise, you'll never realize its worth.
  7. Well said. Whether or not this story is true, it doesn't matter. It's a sad state when people are willing to witness tragedy before their very eyes because of policy or money.
  8. ... and bring Spiel with ya!
  9. Save your charter money for a Spiel rod. If you want to hook up for a muskie trip; meet me in London, I'll take you out to St. Clair.
  10. With the forecast calling for wind and cool weather, we'll probably be sticking to the west side or North shore of K-Bay. I keep hearing how good Simcoe is for bass and I've even put a few people onto their PB's but the best I can do is about a 2 lber. Any tips for me? I don't get out on Simcoe more than once or twice a year, I could use all the help I can get!! Feel free to PM the really hot tips and locations!!! -Brian
  11. Sorry this is no help to you but... One of the guys at work got a phone call... "Hi, I drove by your house and did a reverse look-up to get your number. We were wondering if you were interested in selling your house..." Long story short, these people liked the house (that wasn't listed for sale) looked at it and made an offer. My co-worker didn't mention numbers but he said it was an offer they couldn't refuse. The downside is; theives can do the same, call the house and when there is no answer they arrange their own 'showing'.
  12. Why would I want to rust proof my own vehicles when you live so close? LOL Gimme a shout if you want to get out today
  13. Ohhhh, you want to tie on leaders? Then, no.
  14. If it were in the cards, I'd have the same motor on the front of my boat. Enjoy!!
  15. LOL!!! ver·sa·tile (vûr'sə-təl, -tīl'): adj. Capable of doing many things competently. Having varied uses or serving many functions. I use it for everything except drop shothooks. -Tying off swivels -Tying off hooks, trailer hooks, snelled hooks, harnesses -Line splices of any diameter (braid/mono/fluoro/wire/leadcore)
  16. It's good for all lines but is especially good for braid vs. the commen clinch knot which has a tendancy to slip. Watch the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5b5b_32Cexs
  17. I use a nail knot for almost everything. Line splices (any diameter), terminal connections, snelled hooks. Simply put, a very versitile knot, non-slip with braid and amongst the stongest.
  18. Good point, perhaps I was a little harsh
  19. I would only use the word in association with Ron Wilson, and I am/was a Leaf fan. REPORTER: 'Ron; we got a lot of rain today' RON WILSON: 'WELLLLL, NO, NOT REALLY. YOU NEVER PLAYED PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY, WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT RAIN? THAT'S THE PROBLEM WITH YOU REPORTERS, IT RAINS FOR 2 MINUTES AND YOU START ATTACKING OUR PLAYERS.' I can't stomach radio or tv interviews with Wilson anymore. A reporter will state an obvious fact and Wilson routinely denies it, contradicts himself and spins it all in the same sentence. At least Burke will acknowledge the truth while trying to support his team. This team can advance with Burke at the helm but not to its pontential with Wilson on the bench. Not because of his abilty and hockey sense but his caustic personality and unearned ego.
  20. Ummm, it can only get better? So sorry to hear about your daughter; it makes everything else look so trivial. Best wishes in her recovery both physically and emotionally.
  21. And very noisy. What you'll save on fuel you'll spend on earplugs. Something to watch for on small outboards is below-water exhaust or you'll go insane. Where small kickers let you down is not so much the lack of horsepower but the lack of torque. They have tiny props in order to reach advertised horsepower at high RPM. You'll be using it at low RPM and it will bog down very easy; incosistent speed. Pro kickers and high thrust models have low HP but high torque and large props. Much more consistent speed and seldom bog down. At a hefty price. If price is an issue, I'd opt for an older 6hp Johnson/Evinrude two stroke over a 2-4hp 4 stroke. If price isn't an issue, a T8 or T9.9 Yamaha is as good as it gets but certainly overkill for your application.
  22. I'd pay even more to DRIVE his car!
  23. Exactly what are you implying? The butternut I used for my shed was a bit of a chore to find but not as bad as sourcing pink ivory for the fascia.
  24. That's more than a slap in the face, its a kick in the pills with a frozen mukluk! I don't think the insurance company is actually screwing you because they don't benefit financially from the new tank installation. They do however benefit from the lower risks associated with a new tank. If it passes a stringent inspection, couldn't the liability be passed on in the event something happened? It seems a shame you should incur such a cost to replace a perfectly useable tank.
  25. "It's so clean, as if there was nothing there!"
