  1. Most definitely, especially if there's some polar bear and harder to find feather capes from before they became rare/restricted. But, it's a sealed bid auction, so it may go for a good price depending on interest. It's only worth that much to the right person, to everyone else it's a pile of dead animal parts.
  2. Spotted a huge stash on Kijiji this morning, looks like an estate situation. \\http://www.kijiji.ca/v-fishing-camping-outdoor/norfolk-county/fly-fishing/1232390657?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true Haven't tied a fly in a while now, and it's way more than I could use in a decade. Thought I would pass it on.
  3. Bit more of a classic look on a rebuild I'm working on
  4. Something to keep in mind is that humanity loves to come up with scenarios that lead to the end of the world, just try to think of a time period after 1950 when something or another wasn't going to destroy humanity. Whether it was A-bombs, H-bombs, energy crisis, various diseases, Y2K, ozone layer depletion and so on. Does it mean these are not things to be taken seriously? No, but remember even through all these crises have come and gone we are still here. Saying that, I believe that we do have to take some sort of action to be more responsible with regards to the environment, but also that we shouldn't handicap our economy and punish ourselves to make ourselves feel like we are doing something. Those 3rd world countries pumping out pollution are often in the unfortunate position of either being able to eat or cut back on emissions. I know that if it was my family who depended on that job to provide food I wouldn't be thinking twice about it. Here in the Western world we are in a privileged position of being able to fret over issues like this, as we have food in our bellies, good healthcare, free time our our hands, and extra money. I think that a better approach would have been to promote moderation and cutting back with incentives, rather than taxing everyone. Additional taxes are only going to hurt the most vulnerable people who cannot stretch a fixed income. Please don't insinuate that Wynne and Trudeau were elected because the majority of Ontarians & Canadians thought they were the best leaders. Wynne got in because the Conservatives ran a terrible campaign and basically handed the election to her, and Trudeau got in because it turned into a popularity contest. Hopefully in the elections to come other parties will be able to focus on financial and social capabilities as well as accountability, and hopefully we as the voters will be able to focus on these issues as we cast our ballots.
  5. Fixed. Wish he would spend a bit less time gladhanding and actually do something besides acting like a male model.
  6. Got us through 4 wars - Boer, WW1, WW2, and Korea. Well designed and reliable. I'll take you up on that G2G at some point Ironmaker.
  7. No idea why the ammo would be in the wall. Maybe home defense? Rifle blanks to give them something to think about, pistol rounds in case that doesn't work?
  8. My brother found a handful of old rifle and handgun ammunition in a wall while renovating his older house. Not sure how old they are, not overly corroded or damaged or anything like that. A couple look like they might be either 9mm or .38 caliber rounds, the others I'm guessing as .303 blanks (necked down cartridge, top is crimped over). What's the best way for him to make sure that this ammo is decommissioned if he wants to keep it as a memento? Toss them in some water for a while?
  9. I love how whoever put together the promotional pictures couldn't even bother to research basic fishing facts. Last time I checked we don't ice fish for saltwater tropical species. Makes me think that someone created a nice underwater drone and is now trying to create a market for it. A neat toy for scouting out structure and spooking fish, but I don't think that you'll see many fish being caught with it. Here, eat this chunk of bait dangling 6" from the strange sounding large moving object. Wait, now it has a light on it! Done deal. Besides, the line is slack when that fish strikes, good look getting the hook set in time. Maybe it can be used as shark bait? Put some flippers on it so it looks like a seal... topwater Great Whites? I'd be more worried about drones being used for hunting than for fishing. Unethical hunters could use drones to push target animals towards a stand. I wouldn't be surprised if we see that showing up in the regulations in the near future.
  10. Hanging out with the NERBs, eh? A bit flashier than I personally like, but it looks like some good tight work. Now you've got to come up with some wraps to match.
  11. This guy has spent how much on his boat and offshore gear? So he tries to save money buy using an 11mm wrench as a jigging spoon. Must be Florida.
  12. I don't think the reservoir ever really filled up this year. Next to nothing from snow melt and a very dry summer.
  13. I was going to offer you one if I had been able to go.
  14. I had been hoping to come and meet some members, but I've got a family event that day. Maybe at the spring swap meet?
  15. And after doing some research it looks like as of December 31st HRV's will be part of the building code for new construction
  16. I've thought about getting one installed when I upgrade the furnace. I also struggle with moisture in the winter, the house must have been sealed really well when built and we get condensation on the windows unless I keep the dehumidifier running through the winter. I was worried about mold at first, but I have not had any issues with condensation forming anywhere but the windows. I wouldn't be surprised if you see them become more common in new builds with better HVAC systems. The newer systems have great efficiency an help a lot with keeping basements from becoming musty in the summer and the air from going stale in the winter.
  17. Still cheaper and better than anything you'll find at a fast food joint. I wouldn't worry about it to much. There's to much profit at stake for the grocery chains to give up on in-store prepared foods just because of a labeling law. Otherwise it could affect sales of any prepared hot/cold item, which is a bigger and bigger sales items to stores these days. I'm sure the big guys already have a way to comply, it's just going to take the little guys a bit longer because they don't have the same resources. They'll need to adjust their price to reflect the removal of the drink, that may just be someone hoping no one notices - people always do.
  18. I'm getting ready to avoid the bush around here. Way to many yahoos with guns trespassing and shooting at anything that moves during the controlled hunt in this area.
  19. I'm a sucker for older 911's. Look up Magnus Walker's work for some beautiful cars. But, with my stage of life it would probably be better to get that 1000hp Diaper Viper in the same video.
  20. Supercars are neat and all, but the fact that many of them need electronic systems to be controllable kind of takes the fun out of it for me. If I had the money I'd be looking at Ariel Atom or a Caterham Super 7 for the fun to drive factor. I've got a lot of respect for these guys. Build your own supercar. My favorite line: "The power's good, but now it's to slow. I can't accelerate in 5th gear"
  21. Refrigeration. Like Lucas said HVAC, sheet metal, and refrigeration often get lumped together when it comes to skill training, trade shows, and the like; but usually operate as completely separate fields. Even within the same building such as a supermarket you may have one company installing the HVAC units, another company hanging ducts, and a third company doing refrigeration. Lucas, check out the ZoomLock system from Parker. 700 psi working pressure, 3000psi burst pressure, vacuum rated. It's miles past Propress type systems.
  22. Parts is a big dollar business when it comes to customized/proprietary parts. Rheem might make slight changes every couple of years meaning that very model specific parts are needed. Once the supply dries up it can get tough to find parts - or a company has purchased every last spare component it can find and has a monopoly on that part. Industries like HVACR and appliance repair are able to get away with this as many people do not have the know-how to fix by themselves, where if a plumber or electrician tried to do the same thing they'd be thrown out on their ear by a homeowner who has done any research.
  23. Most likely either a flame sensor or a pressure sensor that is shutting things down. I dealt with the same thing when my induction blower stopped working. Without the blower feeding the burner the burner is prevented from lighting and without the burner lighting the fan won't kick on. A flame sensor failure acts the same, but the induction blower will be running. Easy fix for me, but if you're not familiar with HVAC equipment call a service tech, it's pretty easy to cause more problems than you fix if you're not sure of what you're doing.
