  1. Ur not the first person to have this problem....
  2. as far as i know yes they are. i was talking to the owner at the provincial qualifier in petawawa last weekend.
  3. Yup, don't be fooled, largies love deep water. I've caught them in 35' dropshotting, and my buddy has caught some toads in 55' on a dropshot.
  4. Look in the shallow bays, for weeds and typical largie cover. Docks, overhanging trees, laydown trees. Then throw spinners, senkos and jigs. If there's buckets in there, one of those baits will call them out
  5. I finished 28th, yup missed out by about 2 lbs, and had 2 fish at the boat that would have put me on the team
  6. i hear ya luc, i had a so so day 1, and had a better day 2. but lost a 3lb smallie day one at the boat, then lost a tank largie that was over 5 at the boat again sunday, either fish would have put me on the team. pissed me rite off lol, but thats how she goes. it was my first qualifier, i went in blind. never fished there before, prefished 2 days. but got a limit each day, and my buddy made the team. caught more walleye and pike then i could count though!! haha
  7. Here are the results for the 2011 OBFN Provincial Qualifier. Thank you to all the participants who took part. Congratulations to the top 13 Anglers who now form Team Ontario 2012 and will move on to represent us and the BFN Eastern Divisional in Massachusetts next year. 8. Frog to work over the pads, then pull out the flippin stick and start pitchin! I like to throw chigger craws, or some sort of craw bait, trokar hook, peg a tungsten weight and start pounding the pads with as many cast as possible.
  9. Hey luc, ill post the full results shortly. I have them in an email as I was there to fish the event. I can say the first place finisher, matt stothers destroyed the field, with 14+ lbs on day one, then on day 2 with most of the field struggling to catch a limit, brought 18+ lbs to the scales topped with a 5.65lb smallie. It was the biggest smallie they said any of them have ever seen from that river. Got him day 2 big fish, for a pay out of $1010.
  10. That's a beauty fish!! Anywhere u go that's a trophy! Amazing river fish, beautiful colors. Congrats to the lady who landed it, can't even imagine the pull that thing had!!
  11. My uncles house was destroyed, and my grandparents house also suffered damage. My parents are heading up wednesday to survey the damage and start cleaning up.
  12. There were also 2 canucks in the top 10 on the co-angler side as well.
  13. Lots of good anglers there. Few of my buddies are fishing it and are doing well. Good luck to all anglers there.
  14. Let the fish tell u. As suggested a wacky rig senko if ur in fairly shallow water. Dropshot a bait is deadly and my preferred technique. A spinnerbait or jerkbait if they want somethin aggressive or a tube, which can be worked fast or slow
  15. they're all old quarries out there. popular place for swimming. but as said, private property. they are all loaded with fish. lots of really aggressive smallies in them. also rockbass. used to fish out there, fun place to go. never used to e an issue to go there, but recent years has seen some stupidity creep up and result in a few drownings. so they are a little faster at kicking people out.
  16. theres a quantum energy pti 10 for sale in the classifieds i just seen. that would be the perfect reel for u. its a small sized reel, very reliable, light weight.
  17. I only run straight 8lb flouro. Trilene 100%. Pretty sure the p line is a bit stiffer line. Line twist is unavoidable with drop shotting. As mentioned a small swivel can help with it, but I believe u lose a little feel with that, and u add a knot that creates a weak point. Also, learning to back reel will help eliminate the most twist.
  18. Burke doesn't like to step on toes and make offers to RFA's. Does no one remember how pissed he got when kevin lowe snuck in and scooped up dustin penner from anaheim? I'd love to see stamkos in a leafs jersey, but its a huge price to pay for a one way player. Not only the money he will command but the higher the price, the more picks the leafs give tampa in compensation. Richards only missed like 10 games with a concussion if I'm correct? Connolly has had injury issues too, but he's a solid playmaker that could be a big point producer with the leafs. Richards could flop in the big apple, and I kinda see him having a poor season.
  19. Rockys tackle repair, in orillia. They are awesome to deal with. Look them up online, I don't have the number on me.
  20. I wanna see boston win. I'm a leafs fan, and since boston screwed the draft pic they gave us... They may as well win. And they have more canadian players, and tim thomas deserves it more then anyone for the way he plays!
  21. strikezone (now Xzone) slammers and shiver shads on a dropshot!
  22. Depends on who u ask. Some guys swear by them, I personally haven't had much success using it. I like the small minnows for perch and crappie, and know lots of guys who use them for bass on a dropshot, and leeches for walleye.
  23. I run a 6'8" medium power xtra fast custom made rod. Lots of backbone to pull fish from wherever they are, very light and super sensative. Long enough to control the fish, but short enough to make pinpoint casts and skipping the bait under docks, trees, etc.
  24. He never said anythin about keeping the fish. Just wanted a positive I'd on the fish. So even if it were protected or closed season, a CO isn't gonna do crap all about it other then help him I'd it or comment on the nice catch it was. Like everyone else did.
