  1. Im looking to get out for some lakers and whitefish on simcoe with a buddy of mine. Neither of us have ever been, were just looking for directions on how to get there, where to park and where to walk out on the ice. We are coming from Toronto and we want to fish jacksons point. Thanks to anyone who can give us directions or any other info.. Also what do you guys recommend for bait, were thinking just williams spoons, and jigs, maybe minnows? Shoot me a PM if you like.. Thanks to anyone who can help...
  2. I dont jig or use live bait and still get over my limit of perch. I just tip a jig with a berkley powerbait maggot and suspend it slightly above bottom with a float. You will also see more strikes the float is so sensetive. Works for me...
  3. for walleye i believe you will need a more sensetive rod, i would rather go with two rods at 50 than one "all purpose" for 100$
  4. stay away from a regualr bucket, mine froze over completely on saturday ice fishing, lol
  5. Thanks for all the help.
  6. probably has to do with all the over fishing
  7. Hey man one more question, do you have any problems with it in the cold weather, i heard the lcd can crack. Thanks!
  8. DSN, Do you have the portable or the normal version? http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.Tex...arTarget=browse Thanks for the help, im probably going to go with the 320.
  9. Thanks for the responses guys, What are the main differences between the cheap fishfinders and the more expensive ones? Other than the pirce, lol
  10. Despite my name i have never owned a fishfinder. I want to buy one now after using Uncle Bucks, and realizing what a help it was.. I would like one with an LCD though to be used in the summer, as well as in the winter.. My budget is under 200 $ Any suggestions? Thanks!
  11. depends which ones, i reuse the plastic ones, but the biodegradable i throw away...
  12. people are also going thorough on lake simcoe
  13. trying to keep all the ice to yourself eh? lol jks, more people would probably notice this if you posted this in the main section
  14. Nice videos man, might have seen you out there lol
  15. Went out ice fishing today with Uncle Buck. we got into quite a few fish thanks to his equipment.. Lots of people, but im used to worse on the rivers We caught atleate 100 fish each, though i didnt really keep count.. Lots of small ones but heres the keepers. Some close ups And the biggest of the day All my fish were caught on a small jig and a berkley power bait minnow. I used a float because i was no good at feeling the light strikes. Only problem is it was a fixed float, boy did people think i was crazy when i started running away from my hole everytime i hooked up. lol Uncle Buck used minnows and a Jig and both seemed to produce equally well.
  16. LOL
  17. knowing where you are
  18. Some people A few more pics.. The shorline
  19. steelhead are strictly "migratory" meaning rivers. The fish you see in small lakes and trout farms are rainbows no matter how big they get.. Basically fresh water = rainbow, ocean water = steelhead with the great lakes being an exception to this. Well atleast this is the way i see it. i just realized how slow i type, lol
  20. Nice to see you finally got one
  21. From my understaing talking to bait shop owners the new regulations ONLY apply to commercial harvesters and transporters of bait not fishermen,. From what i have read it is ok for fishermen to transport baitfish from anywhere in the province to a virus free zone. probably not a good idea but legal
  22. No backgrounds, no photoshop
  23. Cool thanks for the response, another question.. I have heard salted minnows produce just as well, Is that true? and how do i go about salting them, i know they work well on the niagara but then again the rivers currents give them a life like action. Thanks
  24. Ive never really ice fished before so i want some tips on what to buy and what to stay away from. Ill proably target perch/sunfish for the begging then move on to rainbows in stocked lakes. Thanks!
  25. its just you
