I want to try casting for salmon in the fall and maybe bows in the spring, at port credit and looking for a nice setup. I was wondering what i would get the best casting distance with? Rod longth, spinning vs batcaster.. etc Ill probably be chucking 3/4 ounce cleos and J-13's Thanks

i have never found the need for braided line, maybe for muskie fishing..

SW winds stir up lake erie making visiblity in the niagara 0, so i would say SW winds affect the bite the most if fishing niagara

We were out there for 5-6 hours, would of stayed longer if my buddy didnt almost cut his finger off while cleaning the auger.

Guess again

Went to a lake O rivermouth today in search of some bows or pike. The ice was a good 6 inches in most spots, but there was spots where it got so thin that my buddys foot went right through. After finding a spot with safe ice, i dropped in my roe bag, few minutes later, FISH ON. Wierd little thing, had no fight to it, Mud Puppie i think? After that we had a few more hits but nothing else landed. Nice day out despite the freezing weather.

salmon like cigarette butts and earplugs so it shouldnt be a problem

Thanks for the help and concern guys, we'll wait a couple of days, huts out on jacksons point from what i have read so it shouldnt be too bad. Will also look into maybe getting a survival suit. Once again, thanks for the help.

do you end up getting any meat from the really small ones?
