  1. unfortunatly the Jays are going to go the way of the Expos (remember them?) decent to excellent teams but no attendance, they'll be gone in 10 or so years so after a summer off and 4 days of training camp everyone's expecting strangers to have great on-ice chemestry ( is there a "shaking my head" smiley?) 9 players last night that are expected to be on the opening day line-up 45%, excellent math from the ottawa fan (must work for Revenue Canada) LOL Ottawa fans should be the last ones to be laughing at the Leafs, no cups in the last 80 years.... come on someone say it.........
  2. I got a few on the fly in the spring up there but a light weight fly rod and 35kmph winds aren't my idea of a lot of fun, roll casting for the wider spots would have worked or just dabbling it in the tight spots maybe. lol
  3. I sure hope he knows thet the pre season doesn't count....... although he is a montreal fan jjcanoe
  4. Saturday morning Dutchy and myself took the 3 hour drive to our favorite trout stream. We were on the water around 8:30am and right away noticed that the level was up a bit from the springtime but still crystal clear. Dutchy landed the first fish of the day right after I had one spit out my spinner at the last second. a nice start and we weren't even at the "good" stretch of stream. I got a small one a little bit later on the walk up to our pools. When we did finally up to our hot spots, the fish were definetly NOT biting Nothing at all on the way back to the truck. After a quick Mayo and butter sandwich with a hint of egg from the local diner/gas bar, we hit another stream, we got into 4 giant chub under the bridge, but no trout, heading down stream I landed another average sized trout from one of the larger pools, we did see a few bigger ones cruising around but the dissappeared quickly. Off to the honey hole, I got 3 micro trout and then this guy came along (yes thats the size of the entire pool behind me) one more smaller trout from that pool that came home since he was bleeding really bad Back up to the truck and off to another spot, in the rain.... all the productive waters where we usually get a few were not producing so we decided to hit another spot where you can stand under a bridge, to keep the rain off. Nothing for about half an hour and as we were deciding to pack things up, (one more cast) This guy decided that he'd seem enough of my panther martin running all over his pool and decided to do something about it nice big boy to end the day! jjcanoe
  5. once in a while I'll kill a small one and put it on a hook and drift it through a big pool where I know there are trout holding, They almost always take it. jjcanoe
  6. great pics and report!!! I also got out on the weekend for some small stream specks, and the report will be coming soon! jjcanoe
  7. Thanks all! that was the 2nd monster sunfish on a big crank that afternoon, Not Skootamatta but would love to fish it someday, it's about 30 mins south and 15 mins east of there... jjcanoe
  8. Thanks! always have a great time up there jjcanoe
  9. The family and I made the annual trip to the cottage last week and we managed to get a few... just missed beating the rain there by about 10 mins it was following us all the way from London didn't even take the boat off the trailer until Sunday afternoon didn't stop me from taking a few casts at the shore before bed where I nailed my 1st fish of the trip, seems I catch this Pike every year on the first night casting from the shore(first fish the last few years have been a pike from the same spot) Next morning was a very misty and a few passing showers until around noon, finally put the boat in the water but not before netting this pike by jj jr off the beach fire up the boat and hit some familiar spots, This dock always has something under it, last year it was a nice pike, this year a big fat smallmouth. First bucket of the week, by mid week there didn't seem to be many fish in the slop so we changed up a bit and fished weed edges for a while jj jr. Doubleheader with the uncle-in-law (Theo) Rock bass on a minnow and sunfish on a 6" crankbait! Probably the biggest rock bass I've ever caught! smashed a topwater frog Tuesday, we cracked open the Dora rod for my daughter, 2 casts, 2 fish. I had a real rod in the pick-up for her but the wife thought she would like the Dora rod better Took the little girl for a walk to the campground that evening to watch the sunset "it's too bright!" "Good night sun" took a ride up to Bon Echo P.P.on Thursday Friday was the best fishing day of the week, we even got up early after a slow but peaceful morning we decided to head to the "go to" spot 1st cast 5th cast 6th cast OH YEAH! slowed down for a bit afterwards a few more small bass and a little pike, went in for a lunch break and hit the water again Last fish of the trip was another shore pike which crunched a popper
  10. called about some oos bass fishers last year,(with large spinnerbaits and 7" senkos from what I had observed) within an hour the co had called me back and reported what had gone on, he met the guys coming off the water, the guys were fishing for "crappie" they hadn't gotten any and he didn't observe them catching any bass. I have fished that water for a good number of years and have only ever caught 1 crappie, but at least I felt good about making the call jjcanoe
  11. Well worth the money, but make sure you learn to use it properly, check out you tube for how to videos for the model you buy, works wonders on a rental boat and as well for ice fishing. One of the biggest advantages it will give you is you can quickly eliminate unproductive waters, the only time I don't use one is when I'm shore fishing or wadeing. If you sort of know the lake or the rental place/ lodge can give you ideas where to fish, you'll be able to find them much easier, as well as seeing what kind of bottom structure (rocks, sand, mud, weeds etc) is down there. jjcanoe
  12. your new waterproof Blackberry? LOL Nice job! jjcanoe
  13. PM sent FRANKIE65 jjcanoe
  14. Thanks for the info and help. I've got all the gear, riggers, dipseys, jets, torpedos, etc, form what I've been hearing, harnesses are king in the east, spoons and hard baits work better in the west, Denis' shop is in Fort Erie in the parkway I think... jjcanoe
  15. Anybody been out of Port Colbourne or Crystal Beach lately have anything to share? Planning on heading down that way on Sunday before I pick up my son from Grandmas house. Should I put the riggers on the boat and troll for Walleye or forget that and just fish for Bass? I always can do the upper or Lower Niagara if the weather is crap. I would prefer to stay away from Lake O. due to the water fleas (I don't have flea flicker line) and since I'm bringing the boat to the cottage shortly and don't need the cottage lake infested with water fleas! Reply or Pm would be greatly appreciated Thanks! jjcanoe
  16. after seeing the great work Brian did to his when I was over on Friday, it inspired me to rip up the casting deck on mine and straighten out the wiring as well as fix the storage compartment door on mine Friday evening, I think I would have much rather been out on LSC Sunday than be climbing up Brocks monument with a bunch of kids on Sunday LOL We'll put yours to good use when I get back from holidays. Nice job!! jjcanoe
  17. nothing a quick blast of an airhorn won't cure, although one of them might fall in and wreck the fishing hole, you're well within your rights to do it, since you thought there was going to be a collision and you were just trying to warn them! jjcanoe
  18. I've got 4 of the Bass Pro brand binders and they seem to be the best ones I have, no issues with the ziploc's coming apart and the y hold plenty of plastic, as well as hooks bullet sinkers and tube jig heads. The Plano ones I have are ok but don't have as mutch storage for the hooks etc and I have one or 2 pouches with the ziplocs separating from the bags, The Storm ones I have are garbage, although in all fairness they are much smaller sized than the others, and I only bought them due to the price (impusle buy! not what I needed) jjcanoe
  19. Well that sucks, I really enjoyed that magazine jjcanoe
  20. London has them as well!! jjcanoe
  21. Anyone out there know if Bassman is still in publication? I've been trying to renew my subscription for almost a month now, at first all I got was "the voicemail box is full" now I get "the number is no longer in service" I usually renew at the sportsmans show but didn't see them this year but thought it was due to the new layout, I don't feel like renewing on line if they are no longer, (credit cards on the net on an inactive website) thanks for the help jjcanoe
  22. just my luck,I travel all the way to Boucherville, park my truck at the Voyaguer, walk all the way to Roy's house, and he's not even home LOL!!!! Happy Birthday!!

  24. missed most of the 1st half but Germany seemed to have about 80% possesion in the second half. they showed a shot of Maradona crying and wiping a tear from his eye about halfway into the second half Maradona Crying I guess he doesn't need to worry about his bet that he made at the start of the World Cup where he said he would run naked throught the streets of Buenos Aries if they won the Cup! jjcanoe
  25. sorry just had to get that out of my system.. This just shows how out of touch from business these guys really are. jjcanoe
