  1. A great way to close the season, for sure.
  2. Oh god, that looks extremely tasty.
  3. Nice going. It would've been an amazing day on the ice.
  4. I would certainly take the safe way out and be courteous. In the long run, I couldn't see the other way working out very well for anybody.
  5. Looks like a nice brown in there too, or am I seeing things?
  6. I'm totally envious! I've yet to have a day steelheading anywhere close to as good as that. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Beauty fish. Lots of spots on that little guy.
  8. I have almost as much confidence in pink power worms than I do in roe.
  9. I'd rather fish upstream now that it's getting into spring, and large numbers of fish are probably already quite a ways upstream.
  10. I've gone as far as that big log jam. Doesn't the trail stop after that?
  11. Nice looking fish. I've only ever used black and pink jigs. Peach is a good idea.
  12. Thanks. And no, there was people on the hole when I arrived and when I left. I don't like to barge in on people. Not that ever seems to stop some other people though.
  13. Instead of minnows, for perch I'd rather tip small spoons with gulp waxies. They last forever, as long as they don't come off when unhooking fish, and work just as well IMO.
  14. I decided sleeping in was in order, so I wasn't on the creek until about nine. Even on a weekday, there was still about 15 cars parked on the road. After seeing a few fish get caught, I finally tied into a fish. It turned out to be a nice, fresh, 2-3 lb male, with a wicked set of teeth. Just before I left I hooked into a nice 4-5 lb fish that thrashed around on top and spit the hook. Both fish were caught on roe. I only had small roe bags, and with the off colour conditions, I think I could've done a bit better with bigger bags. I'll be back at it Wednesday.
  15. I've been there. Drilling through 14-15 inches of ice with such a big hand auger is not fun at all.
  16. Beautiful fish.
  17. Great report! I never got a single laker all season (mind you I only made it out there 5 times). Next season I'll be there as much as possible.
  18. Today was a sad day. I do hope to hit simcoe for perch a few more times though...
  19. After a solid 3 hours of sleep, I was up at 5 and on the road by twenty after. When we arrive at willow beach, it is still completely dark. By the time we have lines sets up it was just getting light. I was feeling really good about today. What was really nice about today was that since most of the huts were gone, there was hundreds of 8 and 10" auger holes everywhere, making it easy to fish when you've got a hand auger. Well, we avoided the skunk, but it wasn't easy. We moved at least a dozen times fishing anywhere between 78-92 feet. The only 3 hits of the day came out of a set of holes in 85 FOW. One was landed, one got off after about 3 seconds, and well, I'll let the video explain the last one. After close to six hours of really slow whitie fishing, we decided to head into the perch grounds to make sure we finished the day on a high note. In about 45 minutes, we managed to ice maybe 15-16 perch. Nothing too big, but fun regardless. Words cannot explain how amazing the weather was. By the end of the day, I had completely stripped my survival suit off, and was down to a sweater and jeans. A great sunrise shot. Fishfinder troubles (you get what you pay for). Ice was in great shape. A typical perch, caught on a forage minnow and gulp waxie Pretty bad photo, but the one whitie we managed to ice and KEEP iced.
  20. ...But does it stay good for longer than the main lake? Thanks.
  21. I wish more people would pay attention to the first Def Leppard album, before they became mainstream popstars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya8Nmwy53lk...feature=related
  22. I'd like to continue to fish Simcoe for perch after tomorrow, but I'm not sure how long I'd want to keep fishing the main lake due to moving ice/cracks etc, and generally unsafe ice. Is there a noticable difference in ice quality and safety in cooks bay as opposed to the main lake? Of course I would be walking. Thanks.
  23. Breaking the ice (no pun intended) is a great feeling. Nice going.
  24. Was that willow beach?
