  1. Pigs! Beautiful colours on the lakers in that lake.
  2. I forgot that the LX-3 didn't have the dual beam. Thanks for pointing that out
  3. After a bunch of reading and pricing, I've pretty well decided on the Marcum LX-3 TC as my flasher of choice. After seeing Lota Lota's LX-5 in action at the g2g, I was pretty well sold on Marcum on the spot. Anyone have any input on these units?
  4. Did you freeze the fish whole, and then clean it? I stopped doing that years ago. Good to hear it was tasty, at least.
  5. They are excellent dogs. The few that I have met have all been extremely affectionate, perhaps even moreso than most Labs I've met (including my own). Prepare to have your hands full for at least 2 years though, unless you get really lucky and find a calm one.
  6. Delta Spirit - People c'Mon http://youtu.be/F6xCBKb5G0A
  7. I can recall at least a small handful of winters like these, and I'm probably less than half the age of many posters on here. Those panorama shots of the 'geen are beautiful. Wouldn't think she'd be that wide open.
  8. Sweeeet fishin. You sure didn't miss much troutin'.
  9. I agree...*cough*spelt*cough*
  10. I'd take one fish on one of those lakes than 5 battling with a circus of simcoe clowns. Nice going
  11. Beautiful. Makes all those skunkings seem like ancient history now
  12. This could be ancient news for all I know, but was there not at one point a 'hook-ups' forum on here? I was looking for it earlier today, and realized I hadn't noticed it in quite some time. So I guess what I'm saying is, I had a guy cancel on me for a trip tomorrow to the Hwy. 118 corridor to do some troutin', who wants to come?
  13. I'm in! It sounds like Spring 2011 for me, especially the part about rock bass and perch.
  14. Sweet! It sure has been a terrible year for quinte ice (obviously), but thankfully farther back in the bay there's still some hard stuff to chase the pigs on.
  15. Nice pannies. Southern Ontario was predicted to receive a warmer winter this year. Doesn't mean you have to go far to find good ice.
  16. Well, it seemed nice on shore... After her first ever ice trip last weekend, and first 3 subsequent fish, I didn't really have a choice about taking her out again this weekend. So off we go to my one of my most frequented spots on the mighty Nip, to find cold temps and blazin' winds. Good thing it was a short trip. The smile says it all... She pulled out two of these beauties in short order while I was having a hard time scraping up perch and some mightily small walleye. And at long last, not 5 minutes before dusk, I coax a large walleye right to my hole, only to have the treble catch on the ice shelf and watch him swim back to the deeps. Revenge was in my grasp, but I fell short. Not that I mind... Embedding photots doesn't seem to work? My link http://imageshack.us.../dscf1011qn.jpg
  17. I've had success with these tubes (different brand, but essentially the same) for small inland trout as well.
  18. Chad, if you put the camera down you might've caught something... Should be fair to say that everyone had an excellent time. Nice to see a bigger turnout and slightly better fishing this year. Obvious thanks to Blair for being an excellent host yet again. And nick, what time did you get that ling at? I was hoping to see you get one. Added a few more herring and walleye to the weekend tally this evening.
  19. Chad, do I have to shake your hand?
  20. Holy moly, going to be at least twice the turnout from last year. Can't wait!
  21. Cache Bay is typically quite shallow, but I would imagine it holds herring and perch. Any area with 15-20 foot sand flats will have roaming schools of jumbo perch, but if you want a more mixed bag I would go father south until you start finding deeper water (25 +) and structure (waltonian reef/manitou islands)
  22. That wind was brutal. Lefroy was about the same, countless dinks with keepers few and far between and only a small handful of jumbos. People are starting to venture out close to the main lake now, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it. Cedar point had no more than 3 to 3.5 inches today.
  23. Beautiful fish! Inland rainbows are one fish that have certainly eluded me.
  24. I was on the hard water on Quinte today...wasn't quite so successful. Excellent video!
