I am betting on Serra getting spanked. He got lucky with that blow to the back of the head last time and then would not shut his mouth. He has no class. A paddling is required. I am also betting on it being a great set of fights.

just curious, how big is "a big patch of land"? How big is the pond? Is it a naturally occurring body of water or man made? forrest

I don't know a brook trout from a bock stout. But what you said makes sense, I guess that is what can happen when people generalize without qualifying. I have never like rainbow trout so the brooks are safe from me: pike, walleye, bass panfish...hmmmm. forrest

I only eat the small ones, they are the tastiest. All the big ones go back. Do other people prefer eating the big ones? forrest

Thought about it for about 10 seconds and here is what I came up with, may even use it myself!: -Buy cheap dome tent with square bottom that is a one step setup. -do you see where I am going with this? -cut the bottom out -mount holders on your boat....for poles and guy ropes. -mount tent on boat and open the doors....instant archway! -for added stability have a plank that slides out of each side to tighten additional guy ropes naahhhhh, that will never work. forget I typed it. It is probably illegal. forrest

Throw the big ones back. Keep the little ones. It is better for the fishery: http://www.thestar.com/sciencetech/article/415624

Tightline is a great shop. It beats Lebarons for selection and should make Gagnon's feel ashamed with their lot. Prices are so so, not as good as BPS. Anyone have details on sale prices? When are they going to get a website going? forrest Anyone from Gagnon's listening?

Anyone haev a list of pros/cons of running acid/non-acid batteries? Do the chemicals in the non-acid one have a downside? forrest

OK, I am pretty efficient with this stuff: one of those small, grey two level 7$ Plano jobs from Walmart is what I often pack....it surprisingly hold a lot! They are just a bit thicker than one of those 10 compartments I think you are talking about and a lot more flexible: -1 pack of Gulp 3" white twisty tails -1/2 dozen non-leaded jigs (lead is banned in provincial parks) -1 dozen hooks of various sizes (bait hooks) -1 dozen split shots of various sizes -1 perch, 1 minnow x-10 xrap -1 perch fat rap -1 white fat rap like lure -2 Rat-l-traps -2 slip floats w/ 1/32 and 1/16th jigs with tiny grubs (pan-fish) 11 #3 mepps fury - 2 red devils. a small and large -2 large spinners with and without bucktail -zara spook - florocarbon leader material -1 big ass muskie bait (wait, that wont fit) -1 or two jointed minnow raps. -spinners don't take up a lot of room so throw a few more of those in the box and I think you would be ready for every thing that is not super deep. I am cheating a bit here because I think I am at 15 compartments here with that box, but it lets you bring pliers, hook sharpeners and packages of gulp. you could go a lot smaller but then you have to ditch the jerk baits, floats and the gulp packages. forrest

Secret spots? From what I see board members go to great lengths to disguise the background of their pictures of caught fish. Who the heck is going to go through a ton of hardwork and then specify the location of a structure they found in an open forum? forrest

It was late when I posted that! Yes, caulking was the right thing to say. Clarification is good forrest

Regular silicone breaks down in sunlight, some silicone will not bond properly for your job. From what I have read marine silicone is polyeuratane based and UV resistant. Get the right silicone for the job. forrest

I didn't see any live webcams there, only cherry picked taped footage. I mean like sticking a webcam up on the pier (like MTO does ont he 401) or some guys boat (like clubs do). forrest

Having a large signature is inconsiderate, so forums make rules against them: a) I have seen some elsewhere that are so obnoxiously large it makes a page unpleasant to read aa) dial-up guys potentially have to turn-off all graphics to get a single thread to load. 100K takes 30 seconds to download for dial-up connection. Anyone on dial-up? forrest

Self-Inflating air mattress... Please Help...
forrest replied to gone_fishin's topic in General Discussion
I have a couple of the higher-end therma-rest mattresses. If their is a leak they will "self inflate" then with 2 beaths of air in the valve I am done. So I am thinking that one of 3 things has happened: 1) The valves are obstructed 2) You did not take all the packaging off 3) It is a really bad product that does not do what it was advertised to do. I saw those mattresses, retail $100? I think not. forrest -
There was this station that just played that burning firelog....there was a video too. They both did well: A feature where you get to watch some other lucky guy fishing might be good. It would certainly be unique. forrest

The guy I bought my boat from knew a lot more than I do about motors and he put it on when selling it too me no questions asked. Mine is a 40 stroke. I am glad I have it, that motor is heavy and I like my transom the way it is. forrest

So you just got a whole whack of fishing lures, lets say 50: Rapala's, mepps, double-loons etc... What do you do with them? whats the logic of leaving them in the boxes?

My take on it: 1) maybe insurance would not cover it but: Hasn't the guy ever heard of insurance? 2) Do not discount the quality of your work, you have stated that the structure stood as designed. Do not do it for free, the guy knows the quality of your work is good. If you choose to split the bad luck with him do so and state so "bad luck, I do not do this for anyone but since your such a great customer I will take x % off to lower the pain of mother nature" or something like that. 3) On the other hand if you totally screwed up...... If you do the right thing you will sleep at night....charging him full pop could be the right thing. Everyone has to eat, you included. Gerrit does this for a living (correct?).....I do not forrest

Is that $15 for a 2-3" muskie?!
