Wow, how many other posts have generated this much negativity? Why discourage or belittle a large group of people for being positive about something that may make a bit of a positive difference? Whats next? People posting that others are waisting their time: -fishing for big fish because they can't be eaten? -fishing because they probably won't catch anything? -fishing for "x" species because it is not a real sportfish? forrest

Anyone have a clue what Lundboy is talking about? Is saying he was not squawking about the WWF? I read the thread again and the rant is unclear to me. (Please, no explanations on conspiracies or long rants about human nature.) forrest PS....comon Lundboy...you know the detail is a bit much for this forum (me included).

Passing exams always feels good. Congrats Gerrit! I agree, the program could be much more effective (needs to tighten up on cheating) but it does still has a positive effect. forrest

Some things that are similar to "earth hour" ( turning off your lights for the hour): -Protests -elections polls -ad campaigns that ask for change -petitions forrest

Was at Frenchman's bay at mid day for a few hours. The north end of the Bay is still under ice. Out of the 7 people fishing in various spots on the bay many lines were cast without a single catch: People were using: Jerk baits and shiners. I threw out a slow spoon and a spinner for a few casts at the end. Maybe a big twisty tail should have been tried? At least it was a nice day. forrest

OK....watch the hockey game, but, if you want to VOTE for caring about the earth turn everything else off. Someone somewhere ( I am guessing) is going to try measure how many people care about environmental stuff AND politicians will look at it. If anyone who posted and treated this thing as a joke later complains about not being able to eat the fish they catch......well you missed your opportunity at a voting possibility to prevent those things. Soooooooo, if you want cleaner lakes, drinking water and air. Turn stuff off!: Kill external lights (for the pretty picture someone will take) IF a TV is not being used unplug it (plugged in TVs use up a bit of E). Turn off your computer (if you are using it they can still see Internet activity), do you really need it on all the time? Stop squawking about WWF and other agendas and be a team player for an hour. Cliche time: "together we stand divided we fall" forrest

I was going to go last weekend but a buddy was squaking about bad weather and ice so I put no effort in. If all is good now I will sneak out for a few hours. forrest

So what is still iced and a right off? I am going to hit at least one spot on the weekend if I do not see it as a right off here. forrest

Torpedo Diver Logo and Catch Phrase Contests
forrest replied to Vanselena's topic in General Discussion
OK...the slashdot.org influence has gotten he better than me. Most non-slashdot guys will not get it: "This is not a dead weight patent troll. Its a patented trolling weight." -
Torpedo Diver Logo and Catch Phrase Contests
forrest replied to Vanselena's topic in General Discussion
I like the one above by dispatch. Adding some description to the "Torpedo diver" part makes it even better (I think): "Keep your balls in the boat.....troll to the depths with a fast Torpedo Diver! forrest -
Torpedo Diver Logo and Catch Phrase Contests
forrest replied to Vanselena's topic in General Discussion
OK...so I may need need a bit of help on this one because I do not know trolling terminology: "Target the deep deep fish with a torpedo fast dive planing weight" or "Why use an old style cannonball to get the those deep fish when you can use a torpedo?" or "Do better than a cannonball. Propel your bait/lure to the fishing depths with a torpedo!" or "Do better than a cannonball. Propel your bait/lure to the fishing depths with the speed of a torpedo! " or "take your bait/lure to the trolling depths on the tail of a torpedo." or "chicks dig a fisherman with a working torpedo" "complement your cannonballs with a proper torpedo" OK...those last two may not go over so well..... forrest PS: if I win a Torpedo Diver I will go trolling -
Don't date any board members' daughter unless you won the applicable contest.

I had a dream about purchasing that exact same rod! In my dream I paid $5. So I think I would definitely pay $5 at least. forrest

Your mom sounds like an angel. Either that or you have good dirt on her. How did you get her chauffeur you to a fishing date? forrest

It looks like it would lift 240lbs easy, it just needs the speed. Were the Sevylor guys drunk when they came up with the idea to market that? Check out the disclaimers about cross winds and kids under 10 years old. The Sevylor lawyers must have had fits! No doubt that insane snowmobile guys will like it. forrest

A long set of needle nose pliers and a fishing glove will help keep the hooks out of your hands: http://www.jacksonlures.com/Commerce2/Glove.htm

I agree, I am not big on plastic, but I have had great success with them. What makes the fish hold on? Is it some kind of jaw specific neuro-toxin? forrest

When I was a kid I remember some guy with waders, vest and all breaking his rod and then whipping out a pocket fisherman. I was only 9 or so but knew about fishing. I said "how come you have that and not a fishing rod?" I think I unintentionally insulted him lol. He told me that a back up was too bulky! What happened to those lures that exposed the hook on a spring mechanism after the fish hit.....I never thought it would work so hot.....anyone buy one of those? forrest

The man has put some effort into hiding the background of that pic. Nice fish! forrest

pimped out my personal ponton boat
forrest replied to The Urban Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
Yes, leaning back on that chair only to have the base rip out of the wood would suck (happened to me). Would it be hard to seal the piece of plywood? That Marine plywood isn't cheap! forrest -
For little hammerheads I have had good luck with 3" grub-twisty tail type jigs, especially in tight quarters or wood/rock snag city (who wants to loose 3 jerk baits a day?) I find X-raps are more fun to fish, both them and spoons are great open water lures. My red-daredevils are doing the job they used to do but I still throw them out there. forrest

pimped out my personal ponton boat

That setup looks awesome! How do you row with the seat so high, does it adjust all the way down? Other ideas: lights? camera stand for self portraits? live well under the platform? (I think that is the coolest of the 3) forrest -
Wow, everyone seems to be of the opinion (or knowledge) that the lures are either knock-offs or stolen. Well one of the bare lots I did get was a set of 30 Rat-L-Traps ( a very easy package to copy). I compared it to one of my originals; hooks and all looked authentic. 30 would be a lot to steal and this dealer sold a lot of boxed and un-boxed items. perhaps a second look is in order? forrest
