Awesome stuff! Are you coming back this year for a little while to fish in Ontario again?
-
Let us know how you like the line. I wanted to try it too, but will be holding off for a short while before trying it out. It looks very good in terms of specs on paper though.
-
Well, I usually have about 1 or 2 cups of their coffee a week, and when roll up the rim comes around, I always go nuts for them. I'm probably like 30 cups in since it started.. Do I feel raped? Very. Especially since I've won like 4 cups since the first day. And lakerguy, Blueberry Fritters are amazing!

We only ever wait at BPS for their spring classic for their sales. They really gotta get like Dick's and have some genuinely special "specials" more than just during the classic...Maybe a couple dollars for a Rapala, senkos a bag for 5 bucks or something. It'll really make me feel better about buying from them. As for their usual priced stuff, there's some stuff that's better, lots that's worse...Compare your prices before you head out. I like to go out a specific store according to the what I need to get. BPS is usually amongst the last of the places I go because it's just so far.

Didn't you know the bass up here are on a 5 day work schedule here too? Come Saturday they all take off to who knows where? Good Read!

Tacklewarehouse usually doesn't promote the really gimmicky stuff....Although this could be their first..Either way, I buy the concept.

So after about 4 months since the last time I've been able to truly cast, went out today to try for some ice out pike. First off, I had 3 setups where I was thinking of using, and for the hour I had to fish, there probably wasn't even a chance for me using more than 1. Instead of taking a spinning setup or a cranking baitcast setup, out of impulse and me wanting to take out my smoothest combo, I took a $500 dollar flipping setup to go out and cast cranks, jerks, and spinnerbaits. This combo could barely cast half ounce baits because it was such a broomstick. I was trying to cast about twice as hard as I usually would, and probably got a decrease of about 20% in casting distance. That's no biggie, if the fish were there and I had the right presentation, casting far didn't mean too much right? Well it did happen, I did hook into a couple of fish only to find my go to spinnerbait has been worn out so bad over the last year that it wasn't even sharp enough to hook myself with it. Worst part is, I got to get a good look at both fish And they were both in the 5-7lb range!!!! I guess I was also kinda lucky to have the flipping setup because I don't own another rod that can make a pike surface on the hookset. Lesson learned, BRING OUT THE RIGHT GEAR, SHARPEN HOOKS, AND GO CATCH FISH!

Think I will be getting one of these guys next time TW goes on a sale! Thanks Garry, I just picked out about 100 dollars worth in baits from them. Another 12.99 can't hurt

I'll be staring at it on the lake all night tonight! I'll hopefully get some shots for you guys! Hopefully it'll turn on the fish too.

Gotta credit that to frozen-fire! I left my backpack/tacklebox at home and had no gloves and was really just too cold to care to look at these fish at interesting angles!

Take a half day off school/work and go crappie fishing! Frozen-fire and I arrived at our crappie lake at about 4pm, and we were fishing by around 4:30pm. Upon setting up, we were already onto a bunch of fish. Only problem was that most of the bluegill and crappie were lazily swimming up only to take a look at our baits. A couple were landed, but it definitely was not the action that we were hoping for. We continued this for a couple of hours, and when the prime sunset bite should be starting, all of the fish disappeared! Decided to move off to a new area, similar depth (thank you Navionics) and I instantly landed a couple on my interpretation of a “chad special” spoon. Called Frozen-fire over to join the action, but it probably only lasted another 15 minutes. We each landed a few, and then came what we thought was going to be a night to remember! Fish were all over the water column in massive numbers within a 100m radius of us! Only problem was that these fish were probably even more finnicky than the whities and lakers on Simcoe. The spoon bite shut down once it got dark, and we were left to feed plastics to the fish. This wasn’t your traditional day where you can jig your bait until the fish came, but it required 1 inch tiny quivers that only drew fish in on occaision. Forget about noticing a bite without a strike indicator. Frozen-fire picked up on the pattern and put a few more on the ice, while I was sitting meters away just watching. It was very slow considering the amount of fish we were marking. All in all, we ended with somewhere along the lines of 30 crappie to take home. Definitely the best night we’ve had from this lake for the 2010-2011 ice season though. The big slabs didn’t come out to play, and the largest ones we got were in and around 10-11”. T’was a fun night indeed. Until next time, stay safe and slam some fish!

NICE! I also love the Charlie Sheem tributes people made on Youtube out there!
-
That is a fat laker there! There are so many of you guys that got Mark's swammers to try out, and it seems that they are pretty damn awesome not on the ice(Of course for the bass too). Wish I won some of his swammers last time he was there at a bass club meeting. Just the other day I heard some people talking about busting them out about 50m away from me...Note for everyone, your voice goes a super long way on the ice for some reason.

Awesome day out there! I didn't get a single 2010 steelhead, so I am looking to maybe get one this year!
-
Sorry if this sounds dumb, but should I be wacky rigging right at the centre of gravity? I've been doing it at the smooth part of it all of last season. And let me contribute a bit (Although I'm pretty sure most of you guys know it). If you are fishing senkos/imitations deep and don't want to wait, you can wacky rig with a jighead, which gives a different action too. You guys can look up flick shake on youtube, and they have a different plastic by jackall-BPS has a good imitation for half the price. These worms have slight bends in them. Instead of shaking a tight line, shake your rig with a bow on your line. the jighead becomes the pivot point and a whole different action is made.

LOL! Thanks for sharing

This one's really good. Love that it's not in English and their emotions are just so funny.

Big Thumbs Up Man!

Be ready for some slushy conditions. Left Simcoe at about 6 today, and by then it was snowing and there's no way in hell that it will freeze 3 inches of water overnight.
-
If you like fishing, you need an iphone! Navionics at $13 gets you 200 dollars or so ahead without having to buy the navionics chip for GPS's and Fishfinders. And you get a bunch of other cool apps that go with it.

Nice rig and nice laker. I just can't seem to get anything other than perch put of simcoe
-
Nice. It seems that they are more yellow brown in the winter. Possibly to match the colour of the dead weeds?
-
Nice pictures at least! Also looks like driving conditions on the lake right now are prime! This is by far a long shot, but is this your dog from fall time last year? I got this shot in Port Perry and the guy told me his dog's name was Moose. I just remember the person told me Moose sleeps in the truck when he's working, and unintentionally bites a little when being pet. If it was, nice to have met you then!

It's been really good that I get to read some pretty detailed stuff about the Classic this year. I remember last year it was just Dave doing his FYI at the end of it all and I had my numbers in the Fantasy fishing, (which I did pretty terribly on). It's pretty amazing everything is updated super fast too! Watched some of the weigh in yesterday. Probably will watch some more of it today since I won't be fishing this weekend.
