  1. Okay so it wasnt a big one, but nice lookin eh? Last chrome of 2008 for me, BRING ON FEBRUARY
  2. solo, a question for you.. When in the river as wee lads, steelhead will readily hit the fly, this would seem to be instinct? Why is it then that a full grown steelie has not appetite for the dry fly? I understand you probably dont know the science of it, but I figure you must have come across some theories in your travels
  3. The single greatest fishing video i have ever seen. Thanks Solo, that got me so pumped up for the sping.
  4. yep, every 6 months or so someone says the same thing. I figure it works, so why mess with it
  5. Theyre hooks, theyre sharp thats all you need to know.
  6. Ever fished scugog? That will answer your question
  7. Cool gear, I recently got outfitted in fly gear myself. For those days where I have been floatfishing for weeks and I feel like trying somethin a little harder
  8. NF = not fishing OOS = Out of season bump = thread to top TTT = same as bump BOQ = bay of quinte BOG = scugog that should cover some of the ones you will see here often
  9. They get kicked all summer, give them a break
  10. A friend of mine lost two cell phones downs the hole in one season. I saw a full bottle of whiskey go down once. It was a sad day
  11. Invisible is a hoax, dunk any fishing line in a glass of water and you will see it *GASP* Not sure about the line, but I also like PP
  12. Youre crazy, somebody better buy this NOW. If only you had posted this a month ago...
  13. Im new to the flyfishin game too marcus, just picked up my first set up. I did spend a lot of time on the river with a guide this summer out west and the things you learn in a day on the water with a guide are incredible. Its costly, but definately worth it. Well get together this spring and see if we cant hook something!
  14. okay, next time you three take on one of these shenanigans again im SO inviting myself
  15. You probably are going to have to up your budget if you want to get into a float set up with a pin reel. Dont skimp on the rod, you dont want to fish with a wet noodle that is heavy, but to be honest you can get away with a cheaper pin if you need to. I ran a Raven Matrix for two years and it still works like the day I bought it when I sold it yesterday. To be honest the thing spins better than my brand new (and much more costly) pin. Its only fault was a dead slow start up but that is easily fixed with a twitch of the finger. Find a nice fast rod, and buy a used combo if you can. Something in the 12 foot range is best for overall fishing, and make sure the pin is in good condition there are lots of deals to be had for example if I saw this a week ago I could have set you up real nice for 200
  16. To make it simple you can buy the whole kit and kaboodle in one nice little package pretied for you. Basically it is usually a section of heavier line followed by progressively lighter lines. I would call it a lead, but thats just because im a float fishermen, not sure exactly how the fly guys refer to it though.
  17. Rick... are you SURE that your computer is plugged in? Gotta love dealing with those service divisions. I know it isnt the fault of the person on the phone, but regardless my account at rogers is flagged. They dont talk to me about my cell phone.
  18. And again, I hate you guys. I froze my ars off out here AGAIN for nothing. Im givin up for this year, plus im out of roe. See ya'll in february.
  19. I do, actually if you can fish with it I probably make it. I can actually go trout fishing with a rod I spun, fishing a jig I tied and soon (hopefully) a pin that I designed. Its good to have friends that are machinists (sp) I made some walleye spinners this spring, and caught quite a few eyes draggin the bottom of buckhorn lake!
  20. Its about time something took that site down... That could be a joke.... take it as you will
