Was there yesterday and picked up a float reel and a tackle bag. Still good deals to be had and if your looking at an expensive reel, I suggest taking advantage of their trade in going on right now. I ended up saving $40.

My wife tried it once a few years ago. Caught a little bass that inhaled a small spinner deep - no chance for the bass to survive, so I took it out of it's misery with a paddle, she's never picked up a rod since... Probably not the best intro to fishing Getting her to a cottage now is a minor miracle.

Neil's an idiot. It was "clean" technically but he raised his shoulder to pop him in the head. He could have kept his shoulder down and it wouldn't have killed the guy. One of these days, Neil is going to get what's coming to him. Intent to injure, irregardless of whether the hit was clean or not is more how I look at it. And bottom line, Neil was intending to knock him out. Good on Ruff for sending the tough guys out there. You want to play that way, send a message. That's what hockey has been missing. Too many of these intent to injure shots go un punished because it's "clean", so you have to take care if it yourself. Peters was an idiot for fighting Emery. That shouldn't have happened.

It's wierd - I've had the PM convo's and all that fun stuff - and well known OFNers were talking about so I'm a bit surprised to be honest. Not ready to give up just yet - lets see what happens over the next week or two. People are busy, crap happens, not much one can do about it I suppose....

From what I understand, the idea of clean ups are to educate the public that not all anglers are inconsiderate slobs and that the majority do actually care. The community gets too much bad press to begin with and now we will have to deal with P3TA campaigns in our backyard. We know what has happened in the past when bleeding hearts take up a cause. I've never been involved in a clean up thing yet but do plan to this spring on a local trib. I really don't see much wrong with cleaning up some crap out of the river I fish personally, but I also don't see the point of wagging a finger at someone who doesn't see the benefit. Arguments are reasonable for both sides IMO, I just want to see a clean river bank once in a while. We should have a "gentlemens" agreement with local law officials that if you witness someone chucking trash, you get to kick them in the nuts!
