I would suggest a different place to fish. Long Point bay would be a much better choice.

Great stuff man, I find my niece plays with the worms more then spends time fishing as well. As long as she's happy that's all that matterrs, lol!

Stop palming your reel rube I had my brother in law out early last fall, he was using my spare setup. Gets into a fish, palms the reel, all hell broke loose and he actually snapped off the 6.6 phantom leader. I was killing myself laughing watching that unfold.

If someone wants those rods, that thing isn't going to stop them. Out of sight, out of mind. At least that's my thought on things.

Charging a starting and deep cycle battery at the same time?

I don't think I've ever charged my starting battery except for before it goes in the boat for the season. The main and the kicker take care of charging duties for that. -
If they are worth $$$$, bring them up to the trailer. What are you going to do with the rod locker? Leave it in the boat 24/7?

The best bet against weeds/dandelions is healthy grass. Overseed like crazy, keep your grass nice and long and there you have it. Pulling weeds isn't a bad idea either.

Everything this year seems to be 3 weeks to a month behind. So if you plan on fishing the same spots you did last year at this time, you'll most likely be out of luck.
