  1. It should auto display the card, my 898 does....
  2. After a quick Google search, it seems a bit gimicky... For that kind of $$$$ you can get a real fish finder.
  3. Sure... If we are talking about the kids going to bed with rumbling stomachs or me possibly facing a fine for whatever (out of season fishing, poaching, spearing, you name it) the kids are going to be well fed every single time. Assuming this wasn't a permanent situation (aka dire need like you stated above), I really wouldn't even think twice about it.
  4. Family first, regulations second.
  5. A 13x17 seems to be pretty small. We run almost the exact same rig as you (Lund 1700 Pro Sport, Yami F115) and we've got two props.. A 13x19 and a 13.25x19. The 13.25x19 really gets out of the hole well and loses a few mph on the top end. The 13x19 still gets out of the hole ok and I've seen 49MPH on the GPS unloaded with half a tank of fuel. Even loaded all the way down I've got zero issues getting on plane quickly with the 13.25x19 prop. I think I'll be taking Daves suggestion and looking at a 4 blade 13x20 in the near future.
  6. Awesome! I'd love to catch one of those indigos in front of the lens.
  7. Of course they do, but you'd think guys with a rig like that would know better... That was my entire point. Pleading ignorance in their situation just embarrasses them even more. The guy fishing 3 weekends a year I'll cut a lot more slack. We all catch OOS fish on occasion while fishing for a species that's got an open season.
  8. I'm all for trying new techniques, but when the lake you're fishing ONLY has bass in it, and you're in there 2 weeks before opener, there isn't an excuse in the book you could tell me to change my mind
  9. Nope, it won't matter about the small details (downimaging, etc)... Well that's good news. Do you have the Advanced mode selected in settings? This will give you a few more menu items on the chart section. Here's your manual in PDF form http://www.humminbird.com/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=3021 Page 131 tells you how to set the finder to Advanced mode Page 28 tells you how to add maps to the fish finder.
  10. Anyone surprised? I've seen guys in 70k rigged bass boats fishing a lake 2 weeks before opener... Telling me at the ramp they were fishing pike, lol. What a crock.
  11. How do I get on this staff and friends night?
  12. You sure your unit is compatible with Navionics Plus? Manual states it's only compatible with Gold, Hotmaps and Hotmaps Premium.
  13. I've had our 60in Terrova out of the water a few times when the waves are really kicking.. If you can get away with a shorter shaft, then go for it (It will be cheaper)... Don't sacrifice on the power though! You can never have too much of that
  14. As long as possible. 60in for sure.
  15. Let's hope! I read an article from the now fired assistant coach that said he thought Leo's leaving was a bigger impact then the everyone thought.
  16. I use my HB 747 in a portable icefishing pack for fly-in trips with a suction cup transducer. Works great!
  17. That's brutal. Xmas came early to someone.
  18. Yup, the fescue at Wildflower up in Coldwater is good stuff. I'm going to overseed with it on my lawn soon..
  19. He didn't notice that rig flying off the back of the truck?
  20. You're further along then I am! I still haven't seen one when I've had my camera with me.
  21. I've done the same thing with mine, fished the Notty, drove all the way home with my Loomis IM6/Frogwater on the roof.. Eek!
  22. If this is the only fish finder on your rig, yeah I'd definitely say it's worth it.. 6 years out of a transducer isn't bad
  23. Wack it with a hammer That's a sure sign however that the transducer is on it's way out. I'd get a replacement on order.
