  1. Well like most of Ontario we got blitzed by a snowstorm last night. (6-8 in) The wife and I went outside to clean off the truck and survey this latest gift from Mom Nature. And with almost military precision we watched all the neighbors with equipment---plows---blowers--loaders cleaning up the drives for those without---some elderly--some not--me also---and no money changed hands. Gotta love small towns.. Got any good news of your own---lets hear it
  2. I know there's little us average people can do and venting does little....but... You do not have to think that long to know why the saying...."Money (or greed) in this case is the root of all evil" has been around forever. A lot of this is spawned by the same greedy oil speculators that drove the economy down not long ago---and no secret---every item somehow is tied to oil----heat---food transport---manufacturing..fishing....and so on. Now a small percentage of fat cats don't care---they're making the bucks---they just pay. It's our shrinking middle class that now will hold their dollars closer because the squeeze is on---Bills have to be paid now with HST---We are forced to hold on to $$$---not buying hurts the economy...We're right back where we started. Heaven forbid anyone thinks of the people that are barely getting by----what do they have to go without now? It will be harder for the middle class to give more to help---they're being stretched also and left with less dispoable income to help. So I too am sorry for the rant..but I hope they can't sleep nights.
  3. great news
  4. Not sure if we can say it's coming in like a lamb here----kinda cold
  5. Did you call Bobby's in The Bay? I've bought a couple lowrance parts there
  6. I'm thinking in Ontario you have to signal ALL turns Should have seen me out of habit use my signal on the old northern bush trails--kinda funny
  7. Any questions Ya'll need answered on the Anglin Sciences--don'tcha be fraid to ask.
  8. Not looking to start any great argument here---but we are not entirely innocent This was in "Outdoor Canada" a few years back. Recently after watching "The Nature of Things--Tipping Point"--I got inspired and P/O'd to paint this. Dr. David Schindler who was in that Nature of Things episode told me that I did indeed capture what the view looked like there. Back in 1980 I lived in "Black Lake Sask" for a while---on the other end of Lake Athabasca---so I kinda have history.
  9. Just watch the fumes----welding plastic is extremely hazardous to your health besides being a carcinogen. With so much plastic in the average home---this is why so many people die in house fires by the fumes Years ago I was a tradesman and welding plastic was something we had to learn in trades school. If it was me---I'd find an alternative
  10. This has been going on for years. Resort owners are trying to sell the illusion of remoteness to their high paying clientele. That's a hard sell when guys bail in from a road on the other end of the lake. I do not agree though that lakes will be decimated because access is allowed---current fish limits and slot sizes insure this. And if you don't obey those then a sign saying no access probably won't affect you either.
  11. Remember The Canadian Credo....What Happens In Montreal....Stays In Montreal...
  12. Ya--I always chuckle when some citified real estate developer builds a new subdivision downwind of a pig farm
  13. You could walk up and down the street in a T-shirt that says "Leafs Suck" and continually sing...ole'..ole'...ole'...ole' May get you some free beers
  14. I betcha nobody picked on you at school--throwin that many bales by hand
  15. Well I don't know---those days may not have been easier as we did'nt have every convenience--remember when we all got cable tv? But I do think they were simpler ---that farming community I talk of used to have a general store where all the locals would gather on saturday night after supper---I'd sit on the front steps and have my bottle of pop and listen to and watch it all. That was the entertainment----it's gone now---as is many of the people that used to farm there. One of "The Group of Seven"...AJ Casson went through there painting many years ago and came up with a work called...."A Barn near Quadeville"---well that was about a mile up from my one uncle's farm---soooo..I figured I'd give it a go. This was from his farm
  16. Was that really better times as I want to believe...or is that just something every guy my age has said for the last couple hundred years You know I miss the 60's and the 70's---yeah there were bad things going on---Vietnam---pollution--crime Why did those times seem simpler?
  17. Went to the Beer Fridge----13 left
  18. I guess it's not just me then---I'm 50 now and still think so fondly back on those days. An RC cola in a glass bottle never tasted so good as at the end of those days
  19. Funny story I was about 12 or 13--I was on the wagon trying to throw bales on the elevator for the guy in the loft---well it took me like 5 minutes a bale it seemed--I can remember my uncle yellin up "Are they comin Too fast" Things we remember
  20. Here's the latest the central air kids don't know heat till they've been in the hay loft in July and August Oh yeah---I used to try and sling bales bigger than me at the time---good thing my uncle had patience "FieldWork" 24 x 36
  21. No kiddin Jacques--great shots
  22. Or we can think outside the box for one second... How's about that the OP is a police officer and I'm pretty sure this is an emotional issue for all those that serve. So in a form of expression on this issue he posts the link that talks about this tragedy---I don't know maybe it's therapeutic in some form or another--but all that aside We should allow him the respect to do this as we all would receive. To take this thread and use it for bashing a celebrity who does not share your political beliefs is not cool and shows disrespect for the OP's opinion in a difficult time.
  23. Beauty shots---looks a little dicey on the footing in some spots--but good goin
  24. This is a very tragic case.
  25. I don't know--and I'm not judging---But I've been a licenced hunter for 35 years and trekked in a lot of places in Canada-At times, I believe that have never seen a footprint---And I have never needed a machete to get around for any reason. Why would I want to add something to my gear??
