chessy, I think you may not be understanding my view point. First, if I catch a steelhead in the lake I keep it for my smoker unless it's too small. Second, I am referring to S/S stream guy who always seems to have "their" opinion on how others should not keep fish, etc.........and then become angry when others don't do as they think. That's all I'm saying

Sounds inviting............should I bring some shrimp to BBQ

I agree 100%...........same thing happened with chicken wings. They now cost more then chicken breast and only a few years ago they were practically giving them away.

OMG please don't water down that fantastic garlic soup you make, it would be a real sin ! ! !

Not really Billy, I should say I don't fish them in the streams / rivers but do enjoy fishing them in the lake.

Who said anything about "this crew" I was referring to me and my bride

People should be taking all these warning with a grain of salt. Take these argument points into consideration before you eat anything. The meat industry has been organized for many years and that is why you don't see any warnings on their products when you purchase them in the grocery stores. Think BILLIONS of dollars here yearly. The sport fishing industry does not have a lobby to influence government agencies to not put out said warnings like the meat industry has. Think small change compared to the meat industry. Now lets turn to the health industry for one moment: Go to any hospital and you will find many patients that have heart/coronary disease from eating meat. Ask any hospital or doctor how many patients that they have treated for eating too much fish and you will get a weird look thrown at you. Just take a moment and think about what I just wrote above. And remember you have to eat something and you are going to die no matter what.

Steelhead / Salmon guy that fishes rivers and streams I have learned are anglers who really think they have all the answers even though they don't. If all stocking programs ceased and the fish were to fend for themselves via natural spawn, the fishery would crash hard and then S/S guy would be up in arms complaining about that. I am so glad I am not a S/S guy because most of them seem very angry about something all the time.

I am afraid that too little and too late action by MNR and NFN has already doomed Lake Nipissing for many decades to come. It has been proven this lake cannot and will not support commercial and sport fishing, one has to go. This is not a ocean or even a Great Lake, but nothing more then a large inland lake. I feel bad for all those businesses that depend on walleye fishing that this lake was once known for.

Since I use wood to heat I always have a lot lying around. I use mostly hickory and or maple....any kind of maple is very mild. I have never had a problem with hickory being to over powering.......I start off with a small charcoal fire and actually add small logs that have been soaking overnight in a 5 gallon bucket. I have had this monster smoker/grill for over 15 years and have never seen another one like it. It's VERY heavy gauge steel and must weigh over 150 lbs. The bottom box is where you make the fire if your smoking. The top box can be used for the meat/fish being smoked or as a BBQ with either wood or charcoal. My sons have been looking for one like this for a few years with no luck.

I agree 100% and it even gets better with a hot blonde to join you. Nothing like seeing those buoys floating above the water line.....LOL.........

1200 sq foot ranch home with full basement. House is about 50 years old but I have all new energy efficient windows and doors, extra insulation in the walls when I had the place sided 30 years ago. NO balanced budget billing on anything. But I do burn 3-4 face cords of wood at $60 per cord using a high tech Lopi air tight stove. House temps with the wood burner is always between 72-75 degrees. Thermostat is only set to 68 but rarely comes on, mostly at night. With that all said my gas bill averages $60-$65 per month in the winter with hydro averaging about the same every month except in the summer when we run central air........then it bumps up to $100-$120 per month. Water bill is always about the same, $14 per month year round. We use gas for the furnace, hot water tank, drier, kitchen stove and outdoor BBQ. I really think the wood burn stoves saves me a ton of money but it's a LOT of work and the older I get the less I really want to do it. Years ago I used wood day and night and burned 6 face cords per year.

Weeds or no weeds, pry is your answer to finding fish.

Typical shelter for a small Big Foot before growing to 9' tall. Get your camera ready and make sure all your pictures are far away and fuzzy to view.

I agree. The last thing we need is more taxes, fees or licenses.
-
Looks like you have the right conditions to put that main dock on hinges anchored to the shoreline rock. Then just crank it up for the winter.
-
Agree 100%......for those not experienced a jon boat can be downright dangerous.

Congratulations on all your new and expected grandchildren. My wife thought the same as you, but 2014 brought us not one but two granddaughters to spoil. Tomorrow we leave to celebrate a first birthday and then head down to see the other granddaughter's Christening. Good times ahead. Expensive........no..........I considered money well spent.

They grow up so fast......

YES, you should be praying at all times for nice and warm temps with a LOT of sun to melt the snow...but rain at night would be OK, especially if you like night fishing in the rain....LOL

I put a rubber band around the squeeze part of the kitchen sink sprayer and then asked the wifey to get me a glass of water.....when she turned on the water the sprayer got her REAL good......she wasn't to happy and it ended up as a water war in the kitchen. So actually it turned out a lot of fun for the both of us

Anyone here get into pulling off April Fool jokes on family, friends or workers. Years ago my brother in-law sent me a letter saying I was being audited for taxes......it look really good and he even used a envelope that had the clear plastic on it to show your address.
