  1. Sorry about that Drifter............those HD models look like a much better product. But I wouldn't want to handle the 110L model because once full it would weigh more then 200 lbs. My back hurts just thinking about it....LOL
  2. And I don't but because there are so many Tournaments / Derby's it's sometime hard to avoid them. Have you not just gone fishing with your son only to find out the place you towed your boat all the to is swamped with a line of boats to launch because it's another bass tournament or walleye tournament, etc.....and then every spot you intended to fish has multiple boats already on it.....if you haven't had that bad experience maybe you don't fish as much as I do.
  3. Can't agree more........Derby's are nothing more then another form of commercial fishing IMHO. I only wish they were outlawed.
  4. Have you considered going this route........makes sense if you do this often enough. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Boating/Boating-Outboards-Accessories/Fuel-Tanks-Outboard-Motor-Accessories%7C/pc/104794380/c/104752980/sc/104347980/Moellerreg-DuraMAX-Portable-Fuel-Tank/700804.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffuel-tanks-outboard-motor-accessories%2F_%2FN-1100541%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104347980%3FWTz_l%3Dundefined%253Bcat104794380%253Bcat104752980&WTz_l=undefined%3Bcat104794380%3Bcat104752980%3Bcat104347980
  5. Who makes that truck, Tonka ? ? ? LOL JK, the Pathfinder is one fine SUV. I'm sure you enjoy that new sweet ride
  6. When transporting I put my gas can in a five gallon bucket. Much more stable that way. Don't know if you'res will fit though.
  7. This is what's called government at it finest stealing money from those who it's suppose to serve. Remember, the more money collected by governments, the more money they have to waste.
  8. Gasoline expands with temperatures and needs to vent.
  9. OLD Cliffy forgot to finish the story of locking both your dog and wife in your trunk for an hour. When you finally open it up, see who's glad to see you and who's NOT ! ! !.....LOL
  10. Most Labs don't take too much training to retrieve ducks, it's in their nature. Discipline on the other hand needs work especially when she sees them their ducks flying low. She wants to go get them even before I shoot them sometimes....LOL But after 3 years of work she's a fine hunting partner and protector of our home. And she LOVES to go fishing. She knows when I get up early and start carrying out ice to the cooler and sees the boat hooked up that we're "Going Fishing"
  11. Because once he built his private lake/POND that's the only place he now fishes. Like shooting fish in a barrel by a buffoon.
  12. I see him differently.......a buffoon that makes boat anglers look bad.
  13. There is no way you should be storing expensive gasoline in that jerry can on it's side. Gasoline is one of the most dangerous items stored in garages and every effort should be made to eliminate any leakage to prevent a fire / explosion. Please be careful.
  14. IMHO you can't beat a Lab and the chocolate Lab is the best looking in the bunch but I'm a bit bias.
  15. It really is old news.....that's why it's called "news" not "olds"......if someone just learns about something that happened a while back it's called "history" not "news". Just like when a person says "you want to see a picture of me when I was younger".......all pictures of someone are when they were younger. Never seen a picture of someone when they were older....LOL
  16. The only one I disagree with maybe is taking too many Canada Geese. The flock still needs thinning as well as the Snow Geese flock.
  17. I hear both of you.........that's why I stick to lakes only nowadays.
  18. Years ago I towed a large pop up trailer out west and over the Rockie Mountains. I was very close to the max weight of the 2002 Ford Escape's towing cap. That Escape already had a towing package with a external tranny cooler. However, since I knew I was pushing the limits especially in the mountains I added another tranny cooler AND a tranny temp gauge that I installed on the dash. Normal tranny temps were around 140 but when I crossed the continental divide (twice) that Escape struggled to make it to the top and the tranny temp gauge spiked at 280 degrees. I sweated it out and we made the trip without any issues. However, once we made it back home I dumped that tranny fluid and refilled with new fluid. Heat is the # 1 issue that kills trannies. Now getting back to your concern. What is the towing cap on the vehicle you are using. I am guessing it's 3500 lbs........if so and you don't intend to tow over mountains, I would not bother with a tranny cooler........but if you would sleep better with one, do it yourself for around $100 or less and sleep like a baby when your not fishing.
  19. Get creative on your computer and make up your own appraisal and be done with it. Or send more money to Ottawa because they can always waste more.
  20. You should be able to opt out of the unit that comes with the boat for a credit that can then be used to actually purchase what you really want. I have a new boat on order and it would of came with a Lowrance X4 fish finder only. However, I already have 2 Lowrance LMS 520c units that are networked together on my old boat that I will be taking off and re-installing on the new fishing machine. I am getting $145 off the boat price by not getting the factory fish finder they offer. Good Luck and enjoy the new boat. I'm sure you can't wait to get it. I hope mine will be built and arrive by late April as the dealer promised me. I knew I should not have gone to the boat show.......LOL....those free tickets cost me over 27K ....
  21. What most anglers don't take into consideration is when the creeks and rivers start flowing again into any lake that warmer water is starting to undermine ice conditions from the bottom up making ice that may look safe actually very dangerous. This is especially true near areas that have streams pumping that water into them but that warmer water does find it's way to many parts of any frozen lake. This is why the MNR insist that all ice huts are removed by March 15th. If you ice fish now, be extremely careful. No fish is worth your life.
  22. Actually I cut my teeth fishing with my dad on streams when you were only a twinkle in your dads eyes. So please don't preach to me about fishing / angling ethics. It's people like you that I gave up stream/river fishing to enjoy the solitude of the many lakes we have to choose from. But I guess you can't help yourself being S/S stream/river guy so I forgive you it's in your nature.
  23. OK, whatever river guy says must be true.....LOL Hope you have a good season.
  24. YES, the fish was part Coho and part Musky that was called a Kowalski but it had one bad feature that the MRN had to quit breeding them.
  25. Thank you, you just made my point in spades.
