  1. Well i'm going back this weekend, i'll let you know
  2. Despite the 80%/10mm rain forecast a buddy and I headed out for some fall Muskie. After all that all we experienced was a 20 min. rain shower which was way better than expected and the afternoon temp was very pleasant. We were on the water by 9am and off at 6pm.. fishing was on and off all day and the bite didn't start until around noon. Water temp was still 60 deg. and we ended up landing 3/5 skis and one aggressive largie. All fish came on med sized baits in bright perch patterns, mine all came on a super shad rap (including the bass) retrieved at a high rate of speed. Although the fish we're that big they were very fun to catch as I'm sure you've all experienced..
  3. Neither, I"m still fishin'... ?
  4. Anyone been on the river lately? I'm interested to find out what the water temp is at these days...
  5. I took a 30 yr old spinning reel into them last year with a broken bail spring. First assessment is that they part wasn't available but 2 weeks later I got a call that it was ready for pickup. $25 and its better than new. My advice is to get all your shimano reels serviced by them at one time or another. Once a year for reels with a lot of use, etc. FYI, I use a Calcutta 400D for musky (2-3 trips a year) only so i'll send it in after about 5 yrs unless theres a problem.
  6. Thanks Mitch, this is what i'm looking for as Im coming in from the GTA.
  7. Look for the usual structure - weed lines, especially along drop offs, points, sunken timber, etc. Bright colored bucktails for searching and have a med sized jerkbait on standby. Watch for follows.. the usual.
  8. Looking for a good ramp to access the Larry near the Forty Acre shoal. Any recommendations?
  9. Bumpin' this up. Come on guys and gals, Muskie season is upon us!!
  10. REDUCED - Revo Toro NaCl 60HS Righty now $280 firm! This reel looks and feels like new Mint, mint, mint condition. St Croix Legend "The Jerk" SOLD Abu Garcia Revo Toro NaCl 60HS Righty. Incl. Box, extra handles, manual etc. Spooled with Power Pro 80# Selling because of minimal use. $329 obo. P/U in Whitby and KW or anywhere in between
  11. Talk to Tyler at Rocky's in Orillia. He has tons of parts on hand. You may just get lucky.
  12. Merc makes a dedicated 9.9 kicker (pro kicker). Its got the bigfoot (HD) lower unit and a high thrust prop. COmes in a tiller or remote. I bought mine at Bass Pro during a February sale, saved something like $800.. They do the full PDI and demo as well. no one else could touch it.. buying power I guess. Regarding the lights, you'll have to run them off your cranking battery which is fine if its healthy and sized accordingly. I don't have any experience with bar lights but I have LEDs in the box of my truck and they're perfect for what you need. Still wont' replace a hand held but handy none the less. PM me if you need any tips running the kicker, etc.
  13. Drop shot is my personal fav cuz you can use it in a variety of depths and conditions. TR craw is a good idea but you can also use creature baits. Again, deeper water you'll want more action from the plastic - the reason wacky works so well is the action it produces when rigged that way.. My order would be: Drop shot or Bubba shot. Lost of fun on ML tackle Topwater in less than 12 fOW Shakey Head or Ned for smooth bottom conditions Wackey senko Paddle tail swimbait (IE Keitech) Can be fished weedless. Squarebills and other cranks (based on water depth) TR plastics. I prefer plastics with a ton of action.
  14. I ordered a Kistler rod from them this spring. Arrived within a few days and was properly packaged. I would do business with them again.. I think they're outta BC...
  15. Looking to upgrade the prop on my '15 Etec G2 (250HO) and i'm looking for a reputable dealer to help with this and service it while I'm at it. Preferably within 200kms from the GTA. TIA.
  16. Stay away from Tuckers.
  17. Agreed, more compact than pool noodle. i'm using the 3 pk lindy snell holder.
  18. PM SENT!!!
  19. Looking for some spring pike action this week and into the long weekend. Any ideas within 90 minutes from the GTA? Couch? Muskoka? Long Point? Quinte? Thoughts? :-D
  20. Thanks, I think i'll try both options
  21. I'm making some perch rigs this weekend and looking for hook recommendations. My bait of choice will be a live minnow. Thanks in advance!
  22. i'm heading 2 hours north of Ottawa for the weekend.. Best conditions of the year they say. Hope so, it would be a nice way to end it.
  23. And the 2017 model year includes improved spot lock if that's important to you
  24. I have mixed feelings on this. Its always been a sign with me whenever I was in the outer bay or on on 5 mile. Also, I come from the power gen industry so that could be why.. I sure hate the look of wind turbines tho..
