  1. Hi everyone. The following is from the RWFC site. Please help us out if you can. The more votes the better! As many already know the newly formed Metro East Anglers Inc. have been working very hard to continue operating the Ringwood Fish Culture Station going forward from here. At our first official meeting we outlined the program. Its primary focus will be the continued Restoration of the Coho Stocking Program for Lake Ontario. With the loss of the OFAH earlier this year and many of it's sponsors a need to fill a large funding hole has became part of the responsibilities of our membership. That being said one of our long outstanding members and supporters Ettore DellaAquila has decided to throw our hat into a competition ring for community funding support. Great Job Ettore. The address is as follows and all details can be viewed there: http://www.avivacomm...acf11597#.ToW-2 The idea here, as I understand it, is that THE MOST VOTES move forward in the competition. Aviva will receive hundreds of ideas but only those that our supported with the best numbers will move forward. I ask all supporters of Ringwood to make an effort to get us as many votes possible and help us win the funding we need to continue these types of programs. This would very much help us concentrate on what we have done best for the last five years. Raising and stocking our Salmon/Trout into Lake Ontario. Voting starts October 3rd, 12:00PM Please feel free to help me get the word out. Facebook, Twitter and all the other social media sites are the best way to attack this competitions. I am told. Please post on your walls! Thanks for your Support
  2. Hey all, thought I throw out a reminder that next Sat will be the Strait Line Anglers Club annual walleye tournament. This year, we will be at a new location, North Erie Marina in Port Bruce. All are welcome to participate and you can find more details here: http://straitlineanglers.com/SLA_LakeErie_Walleye/SLA_LakeErie_Walleye_Tournament.htm hope to see some OFC'rs there!
  3. you can try running a diver down the chute but you will be far better off running it on the side between your rigger and planer boards. with 30lb wire and having a #1 diver on a 2.5-3 setting, let it out 150-200 feet no doub from mid May through the rest of summer, wire diver combos will get ya lots of fish when they are properly deployed also on smaller narrower boats, its preffered to keep the middle (chute) open and free of lines to avoid tangles and to leave lots of room for landing fish, to each their own though
  4. thanks for sharing your report ill suggest next time pull those flat lines from the middle (chute) and run a diver on each side instead. Divers catch lots of fish & you will have much less tangles
  5. see ya Tuesday folks
  6. Strait Line Anglers "The most common question about the club is the name and it's spelling "Strait" rather then "Straight". It's simply a play-on-words. Strait is a name of a long, large size water-body, such as the Davis Strait. This is somewhat descriptive to the waters that our club members typically fish- Lake Ontario and Lake Erie."
  7. Been a while since there was one. Thought I would throw this out there.. The Strait Line Anglers Club will be having its next monthly meeting on Tues April 5 at 7pm @ the Grimsby Legion. As allways, all are welcome to attend. While we are a multi-species club, the focus that evening will be on Spring Salmon as we are happy to have guest speaker Karl Chmilnitzky (captain of Team Twofish & the 2010 Scotty King Of The Lake series)on hand to share some tips, stories and also have a little Q&A We will be in the basement but the bar will be open upstairs. 11. thanks terry been a while since we had charlotte here
  12. spoonpullers may have given you a headache but having your wire diver combo violated & robbed of 500 feet of line will give you a heart attack (and quite the rush!)
  13. some great info there for sure where abouts are you located? one of the best ways to shorten the learning curve besides researching other trolling specific websites is to hook up with other anglers and "apprentice" a couple times and feel things out before you go at it in your own boat
  14. no thanks i prefer local small town shows and tackle shop "open house" sales instead

  16. the problem with relevant fishing posts being moved to "announcements" is that they dont get the same amount of views as "which snowblower should i buy?"
  17. im a big fan of the line up of Koppers Live Targets this brown crushed the shiner model gonna give the smelt patterns a go in a couple weeks behind planner boards along Lake Ontario's south shore
  18. been here for over 8 years i think now.... Have fished with & met off the water many kind folks here over that time frame. Though they(we) dont all post here very often nowadays, many of us are still very close & still fish together regularly. Colin was the very 1st person I met from here & we spent a 2004 January day on Scugog. A couple weeks after that I then met folks like Pigeonfisher, Raf (boostnawd), DipLip, Cory, Joey & Paul, Speil, TEP, Ron, Bosc, YO, Lew, Rizzo (Roger) on Lake Simcoe at a little derby we did for Childrens Wish. Aftr that I then soon met the "bulk" of most OFC regulars at Quinte, Lakair and the infamous "Nip Trip" at Rob Hyatts. DanC, one day I'd like to make it up your way one day to chase speckles, tip beers & talk sports
  19. spend as much time outside (and on the boat) as possible with my 3yr old son probably be seeing you a few times at that "spot" again Bruce come ice-out
  20. Would like to thank all those you came out for our annual Steelhead derby on the lower Niagara River yesterday. Despite having to postpone the event for the last two weeks, we had a good turnout of both shore & boat anglers. we also managed to luck out with the weather & river conditions for this un-predictable time of year. There was approximately 2 feet of visibility, not a breath of wind, and plenty of trout were caught throughout the river by everyone. My partner & I got a mix of browns & bow's including a kicker for Thom. It seemed like everyone had a respectable trout to weigh in for themselves. Here's what the top results were Jay Whitley 11.80 Kim Porier 10.95 Thom Genders 10.90 Denis Kreeze 10.50lbs Gerald Koestier 9.60 Perry porier 9.20 Paul Castellano 9.20 While not mandatory, live-release is greatly encouraged and many of the fish were put back in the river no worse for wear. More photos and even a video of the weigh-in should be up soon on the club's website as well @ www.straitlineanglers.com I'd also like to extend an open invite to all to check out our next monthly meeting at our new location, the Grimsby Legion on Tuesday Jan 4, 7pm. We are excited to have Grant McAllister of G2 Angling, ( www.G2Angling.com ) who will give a seminar on Ice Fishing the Bay Of Quinte
