  1. If the natives were smart, they’d say to hell with trudeau’s ethanol free fuel ban and just double down selling ethanol free premium from their refinery and network of gas stations located on their reserves. I can tell you there is a massive market of people looking for corn free fuel.
  2. If I got rid of the bass boat and rods, I’d be able to renovate my house…but what fun is that
  3. Lol I love watching the slippery slope that you are on. I remember “splurging” for a Bob Izumi special combo for like $140 for the combo and thinking I was “set” I used to rip my tinner over near a set of pads, anchor down and throw a spinner bait in hopes to catch a largemouth or pike. It’s addicting, but it keeps me sane is what I will say. I also don’t maintain any other vices at all, no smoking, drugs, drinking from the occasional beer, so fishing is my substance…and I let it fill me up. definitely would have been cheaper to take up smoking and drinking though 😆
  4. MH mojo is a quiver killer. It will do everything you need it to do from pike, bass, walleye whatever Theres basically nothing it wont be able to do as far as casting baits around. My big "budget" rod that I am on right now are the evergreen combat sticks. Those rods are built like $300-$400 JDM rods at 1/2 the price when they go on sale.
  5. Hey Guys, I have for sale a Brand new in box 13 Fishing Modus C2 Right Hand Baitcaster that I won at a tournament. Asking $80obo - Can ship or meet.
  6. I’m gonna tell you outright, any reel you buy, make sure it has a power handle. I tried without and gave up basically immediately. crow and bill, check out the diawa/nishine Bessie it’s a musky sized spy bait made by as you know one of the best lure makers on the planet
  7. I could be mistaken but Those do not look like they are heat shrinkable you are looking for something more like this https://www.homehardware.ca/en/6-pack-blue-heat-shrink-connectors/p/3624126 the reason guys said stagger the cuts is because if you do them all straight and there’s 5 wires, the butt connectors will make a blob of connections that can be clunky. It’s not the end of the world though, you could still potentially throw a large enough wire loom over the section to keep everything tidy.
  8. Interesting, you clearly know far more than I ever would, but I have also heard rumblings somewhere before that solder connections in boats are actually not the best due to the vibration and beating a boat takes. less so on the trailer side of things but more on the marine electronics side of stuff I’ve done a ton of research on how the “pro” installers are doing their work, and everyone these days has their own favourite crimp style connectors that they use. I personally dig into it for a while and settled on MC4 style connectors. Not great for a trailer, but ideal for in boat. Waterproof, , easily disconnected, but both crimped, and then ratcheted and then snapped together. They’ve been awesome in mine and other’s boats I have wired since finding them.
  9. Connectors are up to the discretion of the person doing the wire. solder is always ideal if possible but over my time working on boats and trailers in hard to reach places, I find myself crimping more connectors than ever. A good solder to me has always been a challenge unless you can essentially sit over the two wires and put them together nicely in a vice. insulated crimp terminals with heat shrink over the entire section so there’s no exposure has served me well. I dip my exposed wire sections in dielectric grease prior to crimping, and then shrink wrap everything.
  10. The fact you saw a musky says everything. I’ve spent many days musky fishing and seeing no fish. Put it this way, in all of my actual musky fishing on Georgian bay, I’ve managed one fish. as far as you experiencing difficulty with the baitcaster, im thinking it can be solved with more practice. Thumbing the spool is a bit of an art but spend a year casting baits hard and you’ll get the hang of it. also braid is always easier to learn on than fluro. also that abu…crank enough bucktails on it and it will explode anyways and leave you needing to buy a new reel anyways. How do I know? From experience lol.
  11. Im just going to call it out for what it is...fair weather fishermen, dont catch fish. Get some rain gear and get the heck out there.
  12. Wait until you see how many 2lb largemouth you catch with them… don’t worry about those cables, if you look at a map up in parry sound, if you couldn’t fish near cables there would be nowhere to fish. Those things are more so for large boats to not drop anchor right on them.
  13. Don’t worry, things have not changed in the last three years, I’ve still caught multiple musky bass fishing on pigeon over my time off
  14. i did the ground work and research for you already. You seem to be very happy with your east penn Deka battery...well guess what? You're in luck...Canadian Tire Nautilus AGM's...are you guessed it, East Penn Deka batteries private labeled for canadian tire!
  15. siwash, forget musky...i havent fished musky in over 3 years (been too busy tournament fishing) I will tell you though, i have used my knipex handhelds 3 times 😬 to get hooks out of me and someone else. As far as I am concerned, I dont run a boat without them in it. Its almost as neccesary as any safety equipment as far as I am concerned. You fish enough, its not a matter of if, but when you will get poked.
  16. Everything is starting to chew a lot more aggressively. Probably still find musky a bit deeper at the moment, but I heard the water was 66 in the kawarthas after that cold rain Friday. So I think the ski’s could be anywhere at the moment. no need to worry about massive changes until the lakes turn over in late September
  17. Yup There’s a launch that’s free in fees landing. lots of skis in the south end, no need to travel all of the way up north. Find the deepest water down there. as a rule, do not start musky fishing until you have the basic musky tools shopping list. 1. a musky net, a cradle will do if you have multiple people, but a net is needed if solo 2. jaw spreaders 3. bolt cutters, when you hook a musky deep, it’s often easier to simply cut your hooks and perform surgery to remove the hooks that way. 4. A cut proof glove. Big musky, have big mouths that will sometime require you to shove a hand right in to get a hook out. 5. Big long nose pliers. and things to remember, musky die faster out of water than any other fresh water fish, so when handling them, use your net to your advantage. Keep the fish in the water and treat the net like an aquarium. It allows you to unhook the musky, get your camera etc ready etc etc all while the fish is able to breath. This also allows you to contain the fish to revive it at the time of release. A tired musky will often need to be tailed for minutes in order to swim down again. finally don’t fish musky on bass gear unless it’s an XH flipping rod. You don’t want to play these fish, playing them essentially guarantees that they end up dead. practice your gill plate grab. It’s the only way to properly handle the fish, while doing so support their belly. Don’t hang a big fish entirely by it’s gill plate. If you need help with this, YouTube is your friend
  18. Your son is going to have a blast catching giant sunfish
  19. not sure, lots of marinas to launch at...only free launch i know of is at the causeway on chemong. ive caught skis on the west side of the gannon narrows and east side east of kishgo south end near emily and up in the north end near nogies creek. The lake once again, I cannot stress enough is loaded with musky. Go poke around and you will find them, its the best place to hone your blade as far as I am concerned. Theres plenty of 40+ fish to wet your chops and learn the ropes.
  20. pigeon, its friggin loaded with skis
  21. thats actually who i was previously referred to as well.
  22. im going to have to give that a try, seran wrap i guess could work. Now i need to find somewhere that sells them. Seems like theres a trailer shop in brampton that services a lot of the pro's trailers. Going to give that a stab. Might even be able to tow right there and have them pick one out for me.
  23. Hey Guys, Tried to service the surge brakes on my trailer and realized I have a leaking banjo bolt on my right caliper. Tried looking online and could not find anything here in canada to able to source one, plus some new copper washers. Anyone here know a good place that would have a selection of them? Its really hard to take a banjo bolt in and say "i need a new one of these, in this size and thread pattern" because then brake fluid pours out all over my garage. What do you guys think I should do? Im all ears.
  24. id target smallmouth and flip largemouth if it has them? (most lakes in the area do) Parry sound and most shield lakes are easy to solve if you are just out to catch some fish. Any mid lake shoal will hold smallmouth, and any pads you find will always hold largemouth. Honestly, you may surprise yourself at the size of largemouth you manage to poke.
