Hey Taper....how were you fishing?? Using harnesses, snap weights and planers??? I will be out there next weekend, I just live in Windsor......great fishery in that area.....usually start around the helo pad and work my way to the mile marker......great area for bass and perch too!!! Chrispy!

I was just wondering if anyone has or had info on fishing this lake (Gatun Lake) in Panama.....I am booking an 8 day cruise for my wife and I and saw that they had peacock bass fishing at the stop in Panama.....I just wanted to see if it was worthwhile or should I wait until we dock in Limon, Costa Rica or Caye Chaulker, Belize?? I have heard there are many good fishing spots in Costa Rica and Belize but would really like to catch peacock bass!!!! Chrispy!

I got this for my 40th B-Day in September.....there is more to come but this is the start.....also just got one on my wrist but it's not fishing related.... Chrispy!

Going to try the boat motor tonight, if everything goes well I will be out on the Detroit River on Saturday and maybe Sunday? I will be down by the mouth of Lake Erie seeing if the walleye have run up the river.....try for some perch in a couple new area's that Outlaw is going to show me.....Can't wait to get on the water!!!! I fish the Detroit River which has a pretty fast current, so very thin braid is the way to go for us.....the thiner the better, it cuts the current better than any mono.....you have to stay totally vertical in the river or you will not catch fish....I use 6# Fireline Crystal tied direct to the jig.....if the water is really clear, I will tie a short (14") of 8# Seaguar leader material with a uni to uni and then direct to the jig.....if the bite is short just add a stinger hook.....good luck!!! By the way, the bite is just starting on the Detroit River.....there have been some really nice fish caught in the last 2 days.....fish are a little bigger than usual with an average around 3-4 pounds..... Hey Joe, go to one of the many kitchens at your resort and get them to give you some shrimp.....I watched a guy 2 years ago on the beach catching 2-3 pound fish (don't know what they were??) but he was having a blast all by himself.....I walked up to him and asked what he was using and he told me that the kitchen staff gave him some shrimps and bread.....he threw the bread out first which attracted smaller fish and then the bigger ones came in and took the shrimp.....you could hear this guy laughing to himself a mile away!!! LOL!!! Have a great time!!! Have a couple Cuba Libre for me!!!! Chrispy!

if the drag system is anything like the VS series you will love that reel....I have a few Okuma's and the drag system on the cheaper reels are that of more expensive models of the other brands....SMOOTH!!!! I really appreciate you chiming in on this....I have spoken to Lee a few times now and I am going to book with him in two weeks at the London Fishing show....I am going to be working at the show for Wally's Bait Shop and will have a chance to talk to him in length about the trip....we are going to be staying at the lodge because we are going with the full American/Canadian plan and will have a chance to fly in a couple times in the week to some of Lee's honey holes....we can also add more fly in days at a good price....My Dad and I are really excited and need this trip....we have just lost my step Mom and his wife to cancer and this trip is something that Josie would have loved for us to do together..... I just spoke to Lee today....he is sending me off pictures of the place and more info....he now offers an American Plan which is right in line with some outfitters....when I called and told him who I was he asked me right away how my Dad was (Dad has had many operations on his back and neck)...I told him this when I first met him because I was worried that there would be too much walking for him and that the beds were good....Lee remembered that.....I have to agree he is a character and a huckster (one of my favorite words!!
