  1. I'm not familiar with Ada Lake, but if you can get into the Little Joseph River (connecting to Lake Rosseau), work the shorelines with big tandem spinnerbaits...there's a lot of timber and rock to be found, and some of the channel markers are on top of big shoals with healthy weedbeds. Be sure to bring your camera...even if you don't catch fish, the scenery will be fantastic up there this time of year...good luck!
  2. I think that the first week of October is when you can catch a laker just about ANYWHERE...they seem to know when they're out of season, and bite more freely
  3. Nice way to round out the summer...too bad that monster laker didn't show up though....now you gotta wait until you can pull him through the ice again
  4. 74 -- sheesh! Better keep a toque handy in the boat there Good job though!
  5. Okay...because of the Lynx, August and July are tied in my books...great shots of that cat! As per Moosebunk...bring on September!
  6. Okay, not that the renos and tree removal weren't impressive -- August's report is my favourite so far!
  7. Very nicely done, sir! Nice to see you on the board again
  8. I like the scars on that first WGSF....are there pike in there too?
  9. I've never fished that lake, but anywhere I'm fishing for pike at this time of year, I would be throwing a Mepps #5. Mind you, that's what I throw ALL year You can work it shallow or deep, and find the fish pretty quick...good luck!
  10. Sounds like Rainbow Airways....I almost did that once. We ended up driving to one of the lakes they fly into instead...the guy answering the phones had no problem spilling the beans Mind you, getting into the place was a lot tougher than flying
  11. nice bass -- even nicer to take your relative out for his first ever! Weird dents though....I'm waiting for someone to give us an answer...
  12. StreamerGuy --- WOW! welcome aboard Ummm....when're we going fishing?
  13. So does this mean there's still more salmon on the way up the river?!?!?! BTW...great job on the water!!
  14. First: what Terry said Second: If there's not a lot of topics that interest you, putter through the rest of the site...classifieds section, news/announcements...or...and this one may be a stretch...make a post about fishing!
  15. The longer foregrip lets you brace the rod under your forearm while fighting, without craning your wrist to hold onto the reel seat. Bracing the rod against the length of your arm gives you all kinds of control and leverage....try it while fighting on your float road...your arm just becomes longer extension of the rod.
  16. wow..even with the blurriness, you can see how sharp that fish's colours are. amazing!
  17. Well, a quick Google search of "Agnew Lake, fishing" yields a few results...most of them coming up with Agnew Lake Lodge...maybe they will have some useful advice?
  18. So, I know it's really warm out and we have what looks like a fantastic fall fishing season shaping up....but soon there will be a portion of my evenings spent prepping the ice gear. More importantly, I could end up being on the market for a new reel, so the more time I have to shop, the better. HERE's the question: When ice-fishing...we're talking about the jigging rod here...do you prefer a spinning reel or baitcaster on your rod? whoops, I screwed up on that post...hit enter too soon and wrecked the poll! Ok, so forget the poll....spinning or baitcaster?
  19. I now see SlowPoke's post. I lol'ed
  20. can't see SlowPoke's post....but this is sounding pretty exciting, Rizzo...I unfortunately do not have any presonal experience on this one. I worked at a lodge on Nipissing, and the owner said that the same massive musky showed up in the same spot every year, and would not hit a bait. It was distinctive because it would jump in the evenings, same time every year. Sounded like someone doing a belly flop! This was pre-musky fever for me, so I never took a crack at it.
  21. yup -- definitely a BIG bass...nicely done! Now go get a measuring tape and put it in your tackle-box!!!
  22. another fantastic report -- super cool seal pics too! The ones of your girls are priceless though...in the fort as well as the boat
  23. That post made my day Thanks for sharing!
  24. Link worked for me -- YES you should get one of these! For $40, you will be very happy with it...gives you so much more flexibility, easier to carry, less hassle. I went to one of these years ago, and haven't looked back.
  25. nice report -- love the technical recap As for the topwater thing...lately I've been finding that with extremely calm and clear water, a subtle bait, like a tiny torpedo with one prop on the back, or a jiterbug retrieved slowly so you only get a faint "plip-plop" has really been working well.
