Went out with a friend today for some cats somewhere between the dam and Erie on the Grand River. We had an epic day, alternating net duties, until a certain someone who will remain un-named messed up the MOJO and caught a fish out of turn.... The numbers: over the course of four hours we boated 12 cats ranging from 5 - 15 pounds. The most caught were 7 pounds (ish). The bonus catch was a snapping turtle, that was deep hooked and wanted nothing to do with our rescue efforts. So rather than sacrificing a finger we cut the line. I hope he'll be OK. He was deep hooked so hook removal would have been impossible. No pics so, it didn't happen. *Or did it???*

Oh, I agree, 1700 would be plenty of power with that engine. That is a gas engine, 2800 is roughly 60% of red line, on a diesel that is 50% of redline. *percentages made up on the spot and may not reflect an accurate rendering of the facts.

That is the case, they mated a gas tranny to the diesel so it revs ~2500 - 2800 rpm at highway speeds. With the torque it produces, 1500 - 1800 rpm would be well within the engines abilities to maintain highway speeds in my opinion. One thing I am considering is to put taller tires on it to reduce the amount the wheels turn to maintain the same speed.

I have one of those as well, in black, my favorite daily driver so far.

That is impressive, I did a round trip from Hamilton to Kingston, and hand calculated 10.1 in my 07 Grand cherokee CRD. The same trip in my Jetta wagon would be about half of that though.
