  1. # 1 I do not need to worry about this client going any where. He understands that it was not my fault the the structure blew over. # 2 As to a building permit, no this was a farm structure. # 3 I know I am not imune to mistakes, and when I mess up I admit it. I did not mess up in this case,I built what was agreed upon. # 4 I suggested that he make an insurance claim, but he did not want to. # 5 the winds that knoked it down were hurricane force, across an open field. 60 - 70 mph # 6 The client already has aknowleded the fact that he is on the hook for this, however I am trying to decide if I use a # 0 or a # 10 bait holder. ( see, it always comes down to fishing!)
  2. How about a very strong power washer?
  3. Is there not a catch and release record as well?
  4. Two and a half tears ago I built a structure for a client who gives me a least one major project per year. Over the winter in a fierce windstorm the footings gave way and the structure was flattened much to my embarassment. In my defence the structure has already withstood many other strong windstorms, IMHO the construction of the original structure was adequate for the purposes intended. But.....it did blow over. I have just finished rebuilding the structure in a much over-engineered manner. The client supplied all materials I just have to bill for the labour. It has cost me a week. The question is, "Do I bill full pop or do I give him a 50% reduced rate due to the fact that I could have done a better job when I first built it?" The debate begins.......
  5. If I did pay for the lesson it was worth it as i learned some things I had not known prior to my visit there. You may have a different opinion of the staff there than I do, however ones' experience with a client or saleperson is usually 30% their attitude 70% your attitude. As a tradesman your experience is probably the same as mine, the clients who give you coffee, or snacks get more care put into the work done at thier home than the (&*^*(* person who demands this and that and then the next thing. As to the extra cost of supporting a fellow independant business, yes it is worth it, as the independant guy needs you more than the large corporations. You are his/her customer base, not some faceless demographic study. Will the corp say, "hey hop in the boat", when they see at the dock still fishing??? If you need me book now, it is heating up!
  6. MAil order might be good for some, however nothing beats a parking lot lesson in how to use your new tackle as happened to me at Fishing World in Hamilton.
  7. When I am stumped and the valves are going to be scrapped......I take out my sawzall and cut the darn things off at the top of the sink. Be careful you don't damage the sink. Probably a retaining nut at the base of the valve, use a basin wrench to undo it. OH do NOT forget to turn off your water supply!!!!!
  8. A blonde went to her doctor and complained that she had a strange sickness................"I hurt all over, every time I touch my self it hurts!" With that she showed the doctor by touching her leg, OW!, her arm, OW! her face OW!. and so on. The doctor said to her, Dear, nothing serious is wrong with you, however your finger is broken.
